Probably because Rogue was jealous over her, and that Rogue had decent chemistry with Scott while Jean was largely just an overachieving Stacy in comparison. People love an underdog, and while Jean was snippy at times it's easy to blow those out of proportion with jade colored glasses.

You don't want to know. Let it be enough this page is probably the best drawn in the whole series by miles. The rest looks like it was outsourced to 14 years old fans who just discovered anime.
