If Marvel or DC used a hero ranking system similar to One-Punch Man, what ranks would different heroes be in? Who would be S-Rank? Who would be C-Rank?
If Marvel or DC used a hero ranking system similar to One-Punch Man, what ranks would different heroes be in...
>S-Rank would be reserved for the most powerful heroes like Superman, Shazam, Thor, or Hulk.
>A-Rank for powerful heroes but not that powerful like Aquaman or Cyclops
>B-Rank for weaker but still effective heroes like Black Canary or Daredevil and for non-powered heroes who still hold their own like Batman or Hawkeye.
>C-Rank for noobs and characters with powers that aren't that useful for combat like Jinny Hex or Eye-Boy.
Batman would easily be S rank, cause this kid is also S rank and he has no powers his gimmick is he is a super inventor and builds shit like Hiro Toyman
>If Marvel or DC used a hero ranking system similar to One-Punch Man
Marvel did one in the 80s to measure up Spidey to the rest
Mutants have their omega level characters. Those are the ones that can single-handedly cause global destruction and millions of deaths if they wanted.
>Batman would easily be S rank
People who don't play along with the association get crappy ranks so it's entirely possible batman would have a terrible rank or even be unranked.
What about a MHA ranking system where it’s basically a public popularity contest?
Bats would be a well respected A or B rank, most likely. Child Emperor's toys are an order of magnitude more powerful than the stuff Bruce carries around on a daily basis. You can be lower rank and still respected, the way that even some S class respect Licenseless Rider despite the fact that all he has going for him is determination.
You guys know public perception plays a factor, not just power?
All mutants are unranked because fuck muties
That's stupid because then you get stuff like . Power should be judged by what the character can do. It shouldn't be a popularity contest. And if that's how it works in OPM that's stupid and would explain why it just now regained its lost popularity. Which is why OP made this thread.
>what ranks would different heroes be in?
the more popular the higher rank they get, that's how OPMs ranking goes, not by any merit or their power but how well they do on the public.
The Hero Association Rankings in OPM and MHA aren't an omniscient power level indicator, they're stats are tested, then their rank is based on popularity and cooperation with the association.
Western Capes are also constantly fluctuating in popularity and power wildly based on the run or demographic of the comic.
Not only that but people have to willingly be tested and sign up to be professional heroes while western capes are almost entirely vigilantes or already working for/with the government.
And the rankings don't really matter since we usually know the general consensus on most heroes within different ages and eras.
powerlevel fags are worse that /mlp/
OPM is based on a mix of performance and minor popularity. Ranking is government regulated, and public opinion is a factor when advancing but not the deciding
Also what happened with OPM? What killed the hype?
That plays into the themes of the story,
The Hero ranking system is just an autistic (which makes it very Japanese) over complication of the tiers that are are already clearly present in comics. There are heroes that routinely fight cosmic threats despite having no powers or "just" mundane super strength and endurance when they're out of water. Then you get the streetlevel heroes who get called up when shit's hit the fan and finally the C-listers who are lucky to get a spotlight in a big comic or who are locked in their own book or niche because seeing the Punisher fight Galactus or Ghost Rider is stupid.
It's the same joke every show, that can only go so far.
Don't worry, OPM is popular again. For now. Mainly because of Genos and giant evil naked lady tits.
But the appeal is more about the world and people around Saitama, not him punching the threats away.
I should probably start reading it. Does Fubuki have a crush on Saitama yet?
>That's stupid because
That's the fucking point.
>But the appeal is more about the world and people around Saitama, not him punching the threats away.
Not really. Another take on super heroes by the Japanese? Kind of boring. The original concept of this guy being so overpowered he was just bored and more concerned about mundane stuff was a fun concept. Then that got thrown out the window so we can focus on power levels, and now they just keep putting it out because it pays the bills.
It’s more a mixture of both. People growing and changing around Saitama, with him and his power playing a major factor like with Amai Mask
I think Batman would deserve a high rating, but would artificially deflate it to keep his villains's egos in check.
Power levels and BUT MUH INFINITE CANON UNIVERSE have ruined comics. Every hero has to one up every hero, and that's been going on for longer than anyone in this thread has been alive. Which has lead to a process of slowly making everything in to ridiculous feats 4 year olds fight about in their games of pretend.
And you can't have interesting one off storylines that are just there to be interesting or fun or a good read. Literally everything must be fit in to the canon. Even if it requires the galaxy sized autism that is a multiverse AND multiple timeline setting.
Well in that case Superman is SSS tier in terms of power and your silly popularity contest rules.
Cool for him I guess. Blast is Number 1 and he’s supposed to be like Superman
It's a shame blast stopped giving a fuck about hero business and fucked off completely, to the point where it seems like he's just a made up legend. I wonder how he will be introduced into the series though, so much world threatening events happen and he's no where to be seen, and recently in the web comic, a kid that claims to be the son of blast showed up, which at least confirms he's not saitama being misidentified during his early days.
Keyword being claims.
>Also what happened with OPM? What killed the hype?
People who only cared about the pretty animation got filtered hard by the second season's lowered production quality.
The people who were enjoying OPM before the anime are still doing so.
Public perception only matters for ranks A to C. S-Rank completely bypasses the whole system, if the Hero Association notices that you are very strong, you get promoted to S-Rank immediately without having to go through the usual hassle. This was done because most of the current S-Rank heroes were like Saitama right now, they just did cool shit without going out of their way to get attention.
Ranking in OPM is not government-regulated. The Heroes Association is a private institution that is funded by donors.
BNHA is the one that's government regulated.
I could see him having a high A ranking, but high A ranks include people like Blizzard of Hell and Sweet Mask, who is an S class slumming to A class as a gatekeeper to keep people from advancing.
That explains how King made it to S-Rank.
Saitama is written out of the story so jobbers can job. His replacement is an anti hero who Is just edgy edge man. Also everyone has dumb names like that. Fucking just pick up a random thing in your room, slap man on the end of it, you now have every new character introduced. It's just boring shallow shit.
The first season of the anime was only good because of the animation and now that is dead and gone.
My theory is that Blast is like Gotham Girl or current Franklin Richards. He has a limited energy reserve left, and if he uses his powers too much he will either die or lose all his powers. So he'll only do something against God-Level threats because otherwise he'd be wasting what little power he has left.
how would that system work with American comic books that has multiple dimensions?
I don't think there is any real appeal in the copy and paste mha approach to heroes or any of the new hero characters. It's literally pointless filler when Satima is op god. Maybe it's bit of a satire, but again same joke every show.
