Meanwhile im stuck in a dead end job trying to make ends meet. Just felt this huge wave of depression hit me and I've come to the realisation that everything up to this point has been a complete waste of time and I'll never amount to even a fraction of what this guy is.
Work out what he did that made him successful and do more of that. Work out what made you unsuccessful and do less of that.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking it's too late to change. It never is. Just do better each day, change one habit each week, etc.

user, I suggest you pursue something that plays to your natural talents. I’m able to have conversations and have deep technical skills so I honed my technical skills and now I’m in sales. You need to move with intent and try to plan your future. You need a 1-3-5 year plan with a mix of personal and professional goals.
