I totally agree, treatment options for these people should be stressed. There's no shortage of treatment options for addicts. Housing is maybe another problem, but there are a shit ton of Oxford houses in the area.
They need treatment. But the treatment needs to be reinforced with understood responsibility on their part. I'd like to see more work or educational programs for these people too. The majority of them are white, and they need help, but the help needs to be dishes out authoritarian style.

They recommend 12 months of Linux admin experience but how do you get a job that gives you Linux admin experience if you haven't taken the course?

Do this course. My friend took it at BCIT and he said the teacher of the course was thrust into at the last minute and was so clueless he was asking my friend to teach him what he was supposed to be teaching. This is the cheapest and best way to do it.

Next comes the CompTIA CISCO networking introductory course. The intro course is CCENT

This is a tough course but definitely doable. NO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PROGRAM BUT YOU DO NEED TO BE ABLE TO TYPE COMMANDS INTO THE COMPUTER.

The money you save on courses could go towards some of your equipment like that lab or maybe building your own cheap server once you've done the A+ course that teaches you how to build your own computer (it's easy, just plug the parts in)

The microsoft one will get you a job as help desk support for Bell or Telus at around $40-$45k a year. It's a nice job too.

Kinda reminds me of the South Park episode "Night of the Homeless." Basically, the town's homeless become like zombies (as you said) and try asking people for change, and when people give them change, they become homeless too (a zombie) for losing money.

keep taking the Cisco courses and work your way up any of 10 or 11 career routes.

I know a guy who works for a health agency in BC and all he does is drive around setting up videoconferencing stuff for MDs etc and he gets around $80k a year or so. It's a clean easy job and all he does is drive around southern BC.

Is it possibly to go a route like this and get telecommute work? That is my dream to work from home/wherever. I'll learn whatever if I can get the fucking work.

I got mine almost a decade ago and it never landed me a job at all.
Even then, you'd be hooking up printers at $14/hr for lazy, fat women and/or niggers who make $30+ to gossip and create fake productivity. OR be on the phone for helping up old people hook up theirs.

That's the impression I keep getting. I make good money now but want to get something I could do from a computer. I've been look at full stack development but outside of a "hello world" script my programming languages are non existent. There's got to be a way to get a support role where I can just do work from home.
