The Real Reason Social Media Makes Hollywood So Nervous

Hollywood’s focus on the petty inconveniences and corporate greed of social media misses the big picture. The truth about how social media is changing the world is a lot more interesting.

Maybe because he would become a competition to the established financial order? Maybe?
Nah its just because hes a dictator

It never gets old seeing Trump continually whine about government spending while at the same time racking up huge bills at his own properties. It really shows where his priorities lie.

That makes him the 44th Republican planning to leave the House. Democrats need to pick up only 24 seats to take it.

Eternal burger strikes again
Hopefully this becomes EU wide law soon. Fuck those things.
FAIR claims social media allows people to publicize state violence against marginalized groups on a large scale without going through the traditional media gate keepers. Well FAIR should realize that this is a transitory stage due to cuckbook and others not wanting to spends the resources to censor their own platforms. Now that the bourgeois state has turned it's attention to social media we can expect them to become gate keepers and content filters as well. Ironic that the profit motive created social media's lack of regulation and other bourgeoisie had to use their state apparatus to control their competition. Capitalists really do sell us the rope that we will hang them with.

Trump’s Role in Midterm Elections Roils Republicans

In other news, Trump is still living in 2016.

Happened late yesterday apparently. Still relevant today though. Pretty funny how he was apparently receiving almost all of his funds from billionaires rather than profits from his own enterprise. Really makes you wonder just how much of this grift is subsidized by fascist porkies.

The GOP are expecting to get ass raped in Midterms. Most them coasted in during the Obama years, so they're unequipped to fight an election this competitive.

Good. These things have a negative effect on the morals of the youth.

The funniest part is all the gamer angst against this decision. I guess some people enjoy getting raped by porky. Of course I guess it could be astroturfed. I've only ever seen people arguing against this online.

Unfortunately the majority of gamers have more money than they do brains.

Loot boxes have all the mental triggers of gambling, but I doubt most think of it that way because they can "earn" the boxes through "skill." "lel n00b u dnt hav 2 by dem XDD" etc

It's an observable phenomenon.

...

Just fuck our shit up, Apparantly fucking with russia and china isn't enough. godspeed america.

Seems like the last time gaming "culture" actually existed was when it was confined mostly to the arcades. Now it's almost completely manufactured and sterile consumerist shit.

Attached: arcade 80s4235.jpg (640x450, 61.2K)

It's really sad, actually. "Nerd culture" used to have a strong core of do-it-yourself-ism that is just barely kept alive. It's largely been replaced with buy-it-yourself-ism and to be frank it's disgusting.

Those were the days.

Attached: Seanbaby on G4.mp4 (480x320, 2.12M)

What are you talking about? Most people fucking hate lootboxes if not for the gambling shit then because it nickles and dimes people after they paid for a fucking game.

A lot of it has become like the fashion industry. People show off the brands and products they bought. The culture is about who has the best shit (console wars) and who can afford the most shit (seriously look at all those faggots making videos with a massive wall of video games as the backdrop).

Any excuse to post this photo

The liberal twittersphere is saying this proves Russia is planning to "fix" the Midterms.

I just took it as more evidence of Trump's arrogant stupidity.

This.

Love it.

This is now my go to article to bash the Dems with.

Regardless Trump has a strong hand because he'll come down on China about a month before the election, at the same time Mueller exonerates him while blaming Obama (and Democrats) for being weak on Russia. The 1-2 punch of economy + national security will spook Americans into voting Republican.

Additionally midterms lean GOP anyway because of the lower turnout and higher voter age. Despite all the crying over immigration and guns it won't get teenagers out to the polls like it will older people.

This assumes that the stock market doesn't fucking implode at October as it usually when a recession hits. Look at the stock market now, and then look at the stock market in the dotcom bubble and the great recession. Who the fuck knows what will happen then.

As if that matters to Trump's base, at this point things are so fucked outside of the urban states they'll vote Republican if only to share the pain with urban liberals. Misery loves company. If anything the economy blowing up will hurt liberals put into the impossible situation of having to defend Wall Street while also being against it while Republicans will just blame China and Russia for everything. Democrats also have t pull double duty on tech, which their base wants them to regulate but their donors in the tech industry obviously do not want touched.

It's a ridiculous situation but one which Trump will emerge the victor from. For as much of a moron he is, he knows which was the wind is blowing and is not fighting it like neoliberals and (the remaining) neocons are.

mate were you not on the internet when Staewars Battlefront came out? Literally all these "gamer" were rolling on the floor in their own shit, shouting "LOOTBOXES ARE LITERALLY GAMBLING!!! WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN???". These faggots did this to themselves, nobody would have had this idea if it wasn't so god damn popular.

This article is pretty fucking terrible. Instead of giving examples as to how social media changes the status quo it gives examples to how it reinforces it. It's main argument, that gun control is somehow only happening because of some spic bitch in Florida, is completely retarded and ignorant of recent history. It's basis thesis is sort of right though, in that social media is the way people now do cultural socialization. But the idea that it's inherently going to help people by breaking down the old system is wrong on both points. Social media doesn't inherently help people (the first half of the article more or less justfies that) and it's not going to break down the old system, it's keeping it on life support.

Seriously though, the entire point of "focusing on the dangers of social media" exists because dangers with the old media have not been fixed. It's like this person isn't old enough to remember Operation Iraq Freedom or Saddam's nonexistent WMDs, facts that the press did not communicate because they didn't believe in reporting the truth. And social media is no different, except now it's with a million different retards instead of one sellout journalist.

really the points on gun control are the stupidest shit I've read in a while, ffs do people not remember Columbine or the DC Sniper? The recent shootings are no different except they follow a trend of being popular online for a few months then being forgotten about, exactly what happened with the #metoo, BLM and OWS movements.

AH HAAAAAA

You don't get out much, do you?

...

I wanted them gone, but not this soon, because these things forced devs to make actual games instead of cinematic experiences and if the latter is destroyed the AA/indie market will be able to make sp games for every niche around (except for movie gamers because fuck those guys).
