We already have examples of it in Cuba and the USSR. But I like to think in late socialism, people would always be in education, learning from self-study, lecture and others and gaining new skills until they die. In capitalism, the only reason they educate you is so you can a job. In fact, education for children only began in Britain because the adults were illiterate and couldn't learn to read (and were needed because they're more productive than children) whereas children could pick up reading and writing and do basic mathematics and keep records in the factories.

No tuition fees. Ban of private schools and universities. Free school uniforms. Free lunch.

Schoolbooks are lended out for the year (college textbooks as well). Books you write in are given out for free.

Focus on academic subjects. Sports, music and arts are not subjects at school but are rather offered at the Young Pioneer's Palaces that everyone under 18 may visit free of charge after school hours, where they can sing, learn instruments, play sports, perform, draw, sculpt and so on.

Lessons in social sciences would have a Marxist, post-colonial, anti-imperialist sort of view of analyzing things. Marxism and its various aspects would be taught as well in different classes.

The students can decide their own focus. STEMlords could visit mainly natural science and maths classes in HS (although History and Civics/Government Studies classes would be mandatoty for all, as well as English) etc.

Universities would merely choose out of merit. The amount of places offered in a degree would be largely in tune with what the cybernetically planned society would need to sustain itself (engineers, doctors, mathematicians but also artists, administrators, judicators and so on).

This is how I would imagine a modern socialist society to handle education.

I'd add some kind of Home Economics/Culinary/Nutrition courses & possibly Fitness (this won't always be adequately covered by the YPP proposal and exercise is tantamount to health) to the mandatory classes but overall seems promising

Every student would graduate with an old school liberal arts education (including a firm understanding of mathematics up through Calculus.) College would be reserved for STEMshit and other professions that require specialized labs and equipment for research. Liberal arts departments mostly exist under capitalism because they produce bourg propaganda and are the only way writers/philosophers/etc can actually theorize and publish without starving to death. Under socialism (and especially communism) authors, poets, and philosophers would be free to write to their hearts content since they wouldn't be living under constant threat of starvation. Thus there would be no need to have specialized university spots for them.

I'm conflicted about the social science. Marxists economics (being a science) would definitely be something that Universities would studied but some of the other areas that today are considered "social sciences" are bourg as fuck (like marketing and PR.)

Why? Its fine and all if you want everybody to be able to play music and paint pictures, but there is so much creative potential in STEM as well.

An "old school liberal arts education" usually included science in its curriculum. America of course decided to ruin it by removing the STEM subjects from it and ended up creating an army of people who think that math illiteracy just means that they are not a "math person."

Forgot to add to these, in promotion of health & wellbeing and teaching young people the practical skills for domestic affairs so they can live fulfilling lives I'd also argue that an incredibly extensive sex education course should be mandatory also, not only delving into the biology and mechanics of such but also perhaps some of the more social aspects of building relationships. After all, ones sexual health is a large part of their lives and encouraging attitudes and a positive understanding of one's own body in tandem with Nutrition & Exercise but also how to interact accordingly with others in situations as complicated as intimate ones seems incredibly important for raising healthy citizens who are aware of the responsibilities that come with their own agency.
