Anti-U.S. souvenirs disappear from tourist shops in North Korea: sources

Well thank you, sources. Say, where were you last year?

Remember when every one under NYT/BBC umbrella was convinced north korea was a fake country? The subway only had one station, it was claimed, and the train just ran in a loop. There was one farm, and the grain in it was plastic. Every skyscraper was hollow on the inside. Real, ordinary Atlanticists would go there and insist every single person in the country was an actor, faking their human lives in a giant Truman show for rubbernecking white people.

I remember arguing with people about it here, even. Tourists would take video of them harassing random people, hear someone cough or sneeze and interpret it as a "signal" to other actors to make a move.

It was demented– probably the most demented thing I've seen anyone do in the last 10 years, and EVERYONE believed it. It was pure, terrifying mass delusion that could well have led to the deaths of a million or more people.

It's hard to stomach.

1st worldism is a disease user. Don't let it bother you. They have chosen to align with demons and will be punished for it long after you have moved on.

North Korea couldn't survive in isolation forever. Global capitalism would eventually come knocking either through a violent war or by selling out.

I don't know what I expected when I saw your post but some how you still managed to disappoint me.

Nice strawman shitposting spurdo

BITCH, I WANT TO GO TO NORTH KOREA TO BUY ALL THAT anti-capitalist SHIT, IF I LIKED AMERICA, WHY WOULD I GO TO VACATION IN NORTH KOREA

Thats like saying East Germany cucked out because it stopped being openly hostile with the BRD in the 70s

You're defending capitalism as I expected a mutualist would but you defended the worst type.
The American type.

NK can give less of a shit about tourism, they don't want shitty Americans they just want their money.

Without active hostility things eventually de-escalate into capitalism. Kim fucking cucked out.

Considering this is in preparation for a reunified Korean peninsula, I think it's safe to say he's "cucked out."

I WILL GIVE THEM MY FUCKING MONEY, PLEASE, SHIT ON AMERICA RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, THATS WHY I WOULD FUCKING GO THERE

God I hope not, I hope Kim at least stops at reunification and becomes like Southern Asia where everything is capitalist but still somewhat less shitty. Unifying with "Plastic Faggots the Clarinet Players: The Country: The Music Video" would be the worst outcome for them

I wasn't defending capitalism but merely stating how it expands by any means necessary. Now improve your English reading comprehension

Nice try.

Is liberalizing the economy and "thawing" DPRK preferable to a war with ROK/USA? Imperialist media lies about DPRK all the time, so this may not even be true. Nonetheless it's preferable to rayjeem change. And if you think neither regime change nor liberalizing could be avoided indefinitely, you're deluded!

Ok but what does Proudhon have to do with anything.

proudhoun is the mutalist, i'd hope that poster reads this.

Proudhon wasn't mutualist

Re-Unification does not necessarily mean the end of Socialism in Korea
WPK has a huge support base to work with in the south and once Full time propaganda stops it will be able to campaign in the South as well
If the WPK united with the SocDem's and Liberals of South Korea it could easily form a goverment

wow fuck this fascism is taking over the fucking planet

Hell yeah, capitalism is decaying over the fucking planet, and the Socialist strongholds are moving out

Andrei Lankov, an expert in Korean studies and a professor of Kookmin University in Seoul has a very interesting blog on Livejournal (Russian language only, sorry tttkkk.livejournal.com), where he posts random titbits about South Korean politics and the situation in North Korea. He has numerous contacts in the North and frequently meets with defectors and businessmen operating in the country.
According to Lankov, small scale private enterprises have become incredibly widespread in the DPRK since the economic collapse and the resulting famine of the 1990s - he labels the process of their appearance "the de-Stalinization from below". They range from kiosks and street vendors to small transport companies and manufacturing workshops. North Korean businessmen operate thanks to the corruption among the local officials and a general lack of oversight from the government. The late Kim Jong-il tried to suppress their activities, but he failed.
The general standards of living in North Korea have long ago surpassed the catastrophic conditions of the 90s and have more or less reached pre-collapse levels. More and more people can afford things that couldn't be acquired easily before, like television sets and refrigerators. Enough food is produced in the country to avoid starvation (as Lankov put it, the less well-off people have to eat boiled corn every day, but unlike in the 1990s, there's enough corn for everyone), plus the North Korean government often presents false harvest data to the UN in order to receive some extra food aid. Cell phone networks operate in the country, built by an Egyptian company Orascom Telecom, and many ordinary North Koreans have cell phones if they can afford them. However, North Korea is still very poor comparing to neighbouring countries. The rise of private enterprise also created a constantly widening gap between the rich business-owners and the poor people. The rich people live in privately-owned houses or apartments furnished with Japanese appliances and electronics and dine in expensive restaurants, while the poor have to work for about a dollar per day.

FACE IT COMMIES YOUR FUCKING SYSTEM SUCKS AND WILL NEVER WORK NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU FUCKING TRY

NK has Already stated it wants a One country two systems model to prevent another East German situation Arising

How does think Debunk communism epic style?
also
Literally any other country in NKs place would have suffered the same fate regardless of economic model

And so here we are.
The pressure of international capitalism is sure to overwhelm and destroy all those who oppose it. The anti-communists say that socialism failed because it didn't last, but this is not true. What history has actually proven is that socialism is wildly successful even in the face of overwhelming opposition.
Basically, for a first try, humanity's attempts at socialism only proved what we already knew, that the greatest enemy to socialism is capitalism.

At least a few of their buildings are empty though. Their largest skyscrapers was empty till relatively recently, for instance. It might have been being rennovated though, not sure. Still, China has entire ghost cities because of capitalism that no one talks about.

I agree, North Korea should totally risk geopolitical escalation and avoid peace including tanking new rounds of sanctions leading to misery for the population because of a few original trinkets for tourists.

I have read Prodhoun and I still don't get what this has to do with North Korea. I would like for Eternal Juche Gang to last forever but it seems that Kim rather sell out than to face a devastating war

Anti yankee video games are the only ones not worth pirating.

Does Andrei Lankov have anything about how housing works there? Do you have to make regular payments for renting? Is energy for heating etc. paid in proportion to usage or is there a free but limited amount or a combination of gratis with extra charge for going above a limit? When there is a change who lives in a place, are the people leaving in any way involved in making a decision who is going to live there instead of them? Is there a payment from those who come to those who go? Is it negotiated between these two parties or set by a third party?

why would they listen to NK, much less some old piece of paper nobody's heard of?
if the intention is to force NK into the global market, it'll happen whether it wants it or not.

fucking roasted

? seems like furrbots tryna think here

marx was german dipshit

t. Proudhon

East Germany cucked out because it stopped being Marxist, just like North Korea is going to be.

Wut?
Like sure after the fall of ulbricht it bought the "Consumer communism" meme with Honecker but it still mostly remained the same economically

What the fuck is your point? I quoted Marx at the foreword, maybe check the link yourself first, retard.
