Where can I read credible information about modern China?

Where can I read credible information about modern China?
Everyone writing about China seems to push an agenda, I really don't know what to believe.

Not reading, but look up the YouTube channels Laowhy86, SerpentZA, and ADVChina, which is a collab of both channels. These guys have lived in China for years, with SerpentZA having lived there for over a decade. They've explored China fully, they've lived the "real China" experience, and they lay it out like it is. If there's anyone who can tell you about what China is really like, it's these guys.

yes, theres no such thing as "objetcive" news reporting, congrats on achieving this milestone

WhT r u lookin g4?

Go read the official press releases and reports of the Chinese state. Keep Marx, Lenin, etc in mind as you read and keep asking if the Chinese policies benefit or harm the building of socialism in China or worldwide.

No shit, but I live in the west so it's much easier to read between the lines. Doesn't help that I'm reading westerners on China anyway.

Thanks

As far as that goes, I would say that China hasn't been Communist for a long time. The government of China can say what they like, but the establishment of Shenzhen as a Special Economic Zone in 1979 pretty much signaled the death of Communism in China, and now it's one of the greatest Capitalist powers in the world. The only thing separating it from American ideas of free market Capitalism is that, in China, the state takes a hands-on approach to the economy.

Maoism is a bit different than Marxism

It's a normal country with racism, worker abuse, phone/internet surveillance and preferential treatment towards natonial bourgouise

Watching the vids now, it's fun and all, but I get the feeling their understanding of politics is rather plebeian.

Check out Stalins Moustache a blog from an Australian Communist that went to China and now lives there (I think).

Or just read the Deng Xiaoping and Xi Jinping works and make up your mind about their thoughts on how to develop China to an advanced socialist country

Dengist Leninhat, ahev you read Losurdo (the famous Marxist that sadly died a few days ago) on China?
His analysis are really interesting and really influential among Communist parties in Europe ,lots of the have now a friend relation with the CPC after been influence by Losurdo (for example in the case of the PCE or PCP)

Lol no. Those are genuine libfags.

Guy commuted and walked hours trough a giant city to make a video whining about muh dogs muh everyone is eating dogs and thats a bad thing and talking out of his ass only to point at a single shabby restaurant he found serving dog meat as "proof" in some poor corner of the city

I'll look into it! Thank you (I don't consider myself a Dengist since "Dengism" doesn't really exist. Deng Xiaoping theory exist. "Dengism" is just a term to slander Socialists who defend the PRC)

If OP wants to know if they should support modern China the best way would be to look into the Theory that led to it's modern state and wich direction it wants to go in the future, wouldn't it?

no wonder you're an anarkiddie.

Your comments makes a good point, but you are an honest idiot if you think that bureaucrats are good source for that It's same as saying
'read trump, and don't complain about capitalism'

I am not-sectarian, I call myself that way for personal reasons.

Read Chinese state media:
globaltimes.cn/
xinhuanet.com/english/
It gives you an idea of what their party line is, what their diplomatic line is, what kind of developments are occurring, etc. However, the English version may be different from the Chinese version (to make it more Westerner-friendly, like TeleSur English), does anyone know if it is different?
In particular, the Opinion sections and Editorials on Global Times can often be really good, and gives a realistic Geopolitical analysis:
globaltimes.cn/video/HuSays/
globaltimes.cn/opinion/observer/
globaltimes.cn/opinion/
etc

I'm (not him) halfway through Xi's book and it's extremely light on theory. It's mostly just a bunch of speeches explaining what needs to be done with very little theoretical justification. I think the actual theoretical debates in China aren't really translated that much.

I decided to check, and… kinda looks like it lol.

If you want to understand modern China you should read the ones who laid the theoretic foundation for it. Simple as that

Also is this everything he wrote to it? Or am I missing something here because that is not very much. Can you name me a book or an essay or something? Thank you!

You can’t. All information about anything older than 2 years has been PUT under ‘cryopsleep’ of you could call it that. The bourgeoisie has itss hands in everything and alters every info that comes out anywhere around the world.

Politicians lie.
If you want understand china you should rather listen to people who life there, and people who have to to deal it, like Siberians, central Asians or Africans.

I watch them and it's very entertaining but they're stupid as fuck.

It's important to me that they are just laymen though, it's an interesting perspective.
