A lot of "first world" countries have many sections with third world conditions, and vice versa, which is part of why I think the "three worlds" concept overgeneralizes.

"first world" = capitalists
"second world" = socialists
"third world" = places we capitalists can rob before the Soviets inspire them to rise up against us

Much of the Third World were former colonies that had grievances against capitalism and imperialism, they would have aligned against the West naturally. The First World worried this would give the Soviets a resource advantage and so had the CIA perform coups across South America and Africa to try and stop the inevitable march of socialism.

Well, economically speaking Sweden, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Malta, Cyprus (even if still occupied by British bases + Roaches invading the North) have always been capitalist and pretty much integrated in the western sphere. Yet they have never been Nato members. Plus Spicland joined Nato in the early '80s, almost at the same time as they joined the EEC - now EU - but they've had Burger bases since at least the 50s, IIRC.

Economy seems pretty tough right now. A major problem is crime. Business suffers because of extortion, violence, and lack of trust. You only work with people you know and you don't trust them either. An acquaintance of mine just did a contract job for someone and at the last minute they tried to screw her out of her payment. Happens all the time.

Govt is shit. Incompetent and corrupt. People thought the last president, Peña-Nieto, was going to solve the crime problem by cutting a deal with the mafia but it didn't happen or didn't work. People get robbed in broad daylight on busy streets. Safe cities have turned violent. It's not even connected with cartels, it's just a total breakdown of law and order. No one trusts the police and everyone who has filed a report knows that the courts are fucking useless and never do anything. Most people I know have been robbed within the past year, and we live in the capital.

Many people like the new president, AMLO, but the older people I know have said he's just as corrupt as everyone else and nothing will change. "In six years it will be the same, remember what I said."

They should just legalize major gangs and make them keep their crim to a certain limit. And make sure they enforce that limit or they are stripped of their new legal power. So only so many thefts per year and if the new theives guild goes over it becomes illegal again. This way each criminal can get a crime license and breaking the rules will result in a punishment from the gang, not the goverment. You would be much less likely to overdo your crime spree if you would get hunted by the powerful crime lords instead of the imcompetent goverment.

Pretty bad, thankfully middle-class people had a few savings in real estate,but thats devalued to hell and back. The tourism industry is the only reasonwhy this country hasn't gone into complete meltdown.

One of the things I noticed is the size of the reserve army of labor as a consequence of the primitive accumulation. Basically, as a consequence of the dissolution of old communal life, there exists a great migration from country to city in search of jobs. But there are very few jobs to go around, so it creates a class of slum proletarians. In many cities it isn't uncommon to find a mass of shantytowns in the outskirts of the cities (though because of gentrification these populations tend to get dispersed).

Is there anyone from India here? I wanna know the situtation of ongoing Maoist revolution in India right now, I don't trust what media says.
