Fascism isn't just a system, it's also a movement. Like socialism, but geared towards different class interests.
That fascism faded after WW2 is because Eurasia was devastated, creating ample new opportunity for capitalist growth and exploitation. This in turn boosted the rate of profit to pre-Great Depression levels, dampening the appeal of fascism.
In between now and then there have also been leaps in labor productivity, the downfall of the nuclear family, the emergence of planned obsolescence, and the fall of the Soviet Union; which opened up new markets to be exploited.
Now, we're returning to situation just like the one before WW1: Stagnating growth, productivity and earnings, combined with fewer territories that can be further exploited.

This doesn't make any sense, otherwise the devastation after WWI would have led to a long sustained boom like what happened after WWII. Nor was the post-war boom limited to America which came out of the war relatively unscathed.

The real economic explanation for this, in my view, is that the value of commodities was above their price of production in the run-up to WWI and afterwards. The Great Depression absolutely leveled commodity prices thus bringing them back into line with their price of production; even WWII was not as dramatic in pushing up prices (which were already high prior to tis outbreak) as WWI was.

The post-war boom occurred because commodity prices were restored to an ideal but profitable middle ground that was close to their actual price of production.

If we compare the aftermath of WWI and WWII what do we see?

WWI: brutal but short-lived post-war recession, rapid but short-lived boom (the roaring twenties really only encompassed 7 years at best) and then the greatest and most drawn out economic crisis of all time.

WWII: short post-war recession, rapid economic growth that is drawn out for decades, short and mild recessions when they occur, low-unemployment, first major economic catastrophe begins in the early 70s which is thirty years later

Both wars show large levels of capital destruction but with clearly different results. And, let's not forget about peacetime destruction of capital, the BOE admitted that the income lost from the 08 recession was equivalent to that of a world war. But we aren't living in anything that resembles Les Trentes Glorieuses or even a 20s-style boom.

The day in and day out demonization of Russia is disgusting to me in part because the Russian working class is one of the most advanced working classes in the world due to its experience in building socialism. For progressives to cooperate in targeting Russia, only undermines the things they say they want because the Russian working class is an enormous potential ally in the global struggle; likewise, this only helps solidify Putin's reign by allowing him to portray the country as being under attack. Russiagate serves the same function for the us ruling class in addition to preparation for war.

November is going to be a referendum on Trump and Trump will handily beat it like he did in 2016. If all debates come down tow stopping Russia then Republicans will win because they will more quickly play the giving up freedoms for national security card. Which is the end stage of all this, after Mueller exonorates Trump he will then demand Congress enact censorship or something similar because of a supposed foreign threat. Congress will unanimously pass it and Trump will get a whole slate of new powers overnight.

And the final stage of this is Trump not renewing New Start and instigating a global nuclear arms race. How could he extend New Start with the way Congress is acting? Everyone is going to have nukes in ten years.

People who don't write off nuclear war as a joke, obviously. Right now the default mode of action is New Start expiring and both America and Russia building new nuclear weapons, this action requires the least amount of effort to occur because it only requires Congress or Trump to simply not act. America already began a multi-trillion dollar nuke upgrade program under Obama, and Russia is starting to do the same as they look to retrofit older nuclear cruise missiles with hypersonic ramjets. In Russia's case, they also want nuclear-powered torpedos which if built would rape the environment.

Everyone under 30 has this false sense of security since they cannot remember the Cold War or any time when politicians talked about symmetrical nuclear warfare seriously. They don't even take this into account when they write off nuclear war as a sort of fantasy, and not something countries would begin doing if nuclear arms production were to increase and proliferation not punished. Which brings us too: it is very likely Russia helped North Korea obtain their nukes and it is likely China helped Pakistan obtain theirs, if Trump exposes this as a means to sanction both Russia and China both will begin just selling nukes because they wouldn't be able to loose anything more. This greatly increases the chances of nuclear weapons being use din warfare (Pakistan, Korea, Ukraine and Iraq to name a few).

Because again these people have a false sense of security. Pakistan only got nukes in 1998, and since then PK-IN relations have gone into the toilet as both begin developing bigger and more bombs, as well as countermeasures to ensure nuclear sites aren't destroyed in a first strike. The only reason they do not immediately attack each other is the fear of not having enough nukes coupled with the expected outcome of a US peacekeeping occupation in some form (see America's nearby war in Afghanistan). The former is an arms race that America and Russia would readily copy, the latter is a check America and Russia do not operate under.

Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, recently called for classified changes.
A classified report on overhauling nuclear communications for President Donald Trump will be delivered to Mattis on Friday, according to Gen. John Hyten, head of the US Strategic Command. Hyten took the rare step of offering some specific new details of top Pentagon leaders' views on nuclear weapons.
The report will detail a new method ordered by Mattis on how the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications System (NC3), which allows a US president and top military commanders to communicate with military forces in a nuclear event, will work in the future. The NC3 provides communication with bomber aircraft, intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarines, satellites, ground stations and command posts.
The key change will be that Hyten will now be the sole senior officer responsible for NC3 operations and systems.

Hyten revealed many of the nuclear changes at a speech last Friday in Kings Bay, Georgia, a key home base for Navy nuclear armed submarines.
He noted that when Mattis visited STRATCOM last year, NC3 was "the big item on his mind." Hyten told Mattis there was a "committee" of people in charge of NC3. "He did not react well. He said, 'I want somebody in charge. I want the commander in charge,' " Hyten said.
Mattis then put Hyten in charge of the NC3 program and ordered a report on how the changes will be implemented. The secretary is expected to approve the changes within the month.
This will not change the highly classified launch procedures but rather focus on ensuring the security and readiness of the connectivity of the system.
This also comes as the Trump administration continues overhauling basic military plans for the conduct of nuclear war.
For decades, the military plan for nuclear war has been known as the Single Integrated Operational Plan – focusing entirely on a nuclear campaign. STRATCOM is continuing the effort begun by the Obama administration to provide military plans that combine nuclear and conventional options, in order to be able to de-escalate a crisis, according to defense officials familiar with the effort.
The move to include conventional options as part of planning for nuclear war took on additional importance as tensions rose with North Korea, and the Pentagon leadership was looking for a wide range of military options to offer Trump, officials say.
Hyten noted that in February, Dunford and members of the Joint Staff rode on the National Airborne Operations Center in an exercise. That E-4 aircraft is used in a crisis essentially as an airborne command post. After the plane landed, "he called me, like within seconds. And I'll just say Gen. Dunford wasn't happy with the way the exercise went," Hyten said. "He said we should provide the President with more options, not fewer options."
Hyten, who has long advocated for de-escalation in a nuclear crisis, noted it's essential to "have other options for a President."
These changes are critical in the wake of months of tensions with North Korea and uncertainty about Russian intentions. Including conventional military options – such as cyber or missile defense – gives a President specific options in a crisis for de-escalation, something Hyten continues to advocate
"Because the way conflict actually happens is that if it's going really, really bad, that's when it gets to nuclear. You don't want it to get really bad, so you want to apply every conventional aspect that you have to that," he said.
