It's not a US creation in the sense that daesh is exactly what the CIA wanted (America had spent years fighting their predecessors in Iraq and all) which remains a dumb conspiracy theory.

It is a US creation in the sense that they wanted regime change in Syria badly enough they armed whoever was willing to fight without asking too many questions, including explicitly Islamist groups, many of whom later defected to Daesh. (Also some of those arms are outright stolen AFAIK - the US-supplied Iraqi regime got routed more than once.)

Nothing so far is conclusive proof that the US intentionally backed ISIS after 2014, since those weapons could have wound up in their hands by being traded for/taken from the Iraqi army or other rebels. I have no doubt that the US was supporting ISIS before they attacked Iraq in 2014 (either intentionally or by proxy), but it seems pretty clear that they bit the hand that fed them. Saudi Arabia and Turkey are another story though. The whole story about them using ISIS to justify an alliance with the Syrian Kurds and subsequent intervention is debunked by the fact that the Kurds are likely going to get a negotiated settlement with the Syrian Government which will in all probability force the US out. Not to mention the fact that by the time the US actually intervened against them in Syria, they were at the height of their power, and had the best chance of actually winning. Stopping one, strong proxy from winning a decisive battle like at Kobane just so you can get a much smaller, weaker proxy like the Kurds doesn’t make any sense to me.

I've watched him extensively for about three years. I honestly think he is strategically better this way. He serves as a massive stepping stone for many people, or even just a way to turn American conservatives and other right-wing liberals into socdems, which is better than being what they were before.

Nonetheless I will give you three points to know about him I have observed if you want to try moving him left somehow.

And as said, the US sadly never directly funded daesh, in fact they almost wiped them out in 2009. Turkey and the Gulf States indirectly supplied and supported them. the SAA used them during the East Idlib campaign but that's about it.

The jihadists they refer to are those in the last days of the battle of Aleppo, so HTS/Nusra, al-Zenki, the Turkestan Islamic Front, and a million splinter groups. It's well known that ""moderate"" vetted groups either sold their CIA weapons to those jihadists, joined themselves, or were captured in inter-rebel fighting.
