my take: political videos are inherently more useful to fascists because the video format is all about aesthetics over content. information density is atrocious, a 30 minute video containing less information than a 5 minute article, but in terms of aestheticising politics the video is second only to the in-person rally. the power of a video is entirely in the ability to make you feel, while the power of text is to make you think.

now that doesn't mean that videos are inherently fascist, Adam Curtis documentaries show a liberal-left-but-the-good-sort-of-demsoc-socdem-kind of using the medium, and that tendency towards emotion, in a desirable, socially beneficial and entertaining way. Doing things with images and sound that genuinely couldn't be done with text, justifying the density and helping to crystallise things. But such use is few and far between.

Because the left is inherently radical and needs to combat all the assumed notions people have and the institutions that we live under. The right just needs to exist and complain now and again over inconsequential things.

The right merely has to reaffirm people’s already existing beliefs while whining about whatever the latest thing to come out of the outrage mill is.

Most of the conventional lefty youtubers aren't really made for more experienced lefties, but are good introduction content to the leftist attitudes on topics without needing a reading list to convey the message itself to it's audience. It's specifically made to mostly appeal to liberals and shift them more towards socialist attitudes, which is a good thing overall.

I know Zig Forums likes to act like they popped out of the womb clutching Das Kapital but everyone has their humble beginnings when it comes to unlearning everything that was taught to you throughout society.

Anyways, Zero Books occasionally has some interesting stuff, but it is hit and miss. Cuck Philosophy is good, and if you are in to gun stuff you should check out Forgotten Weapons because the guy who runs the channel is a leftist and well-versed on guns. Bak'to has enough meme videos to last a century and you can listen to GETchan all day. Oh, and if you want some cultural stuff, both current and historic, there is Overly Sarcastic Productions which has some top notch production quality.

On one hand I get why people on here are accusing entertainers like HBomberguy, Contra and Shaun of producing material of very little political significance, on the other hand I don't think that debunking rightist propaganda isn't something worth doing for its own sake.

Truth of the matter is, the right controls the narrative and if we want to get ours out there people need to stop believing theirs. It doesn't matter that folks like Shaun and Contra can't offer a coherent ideological alternative, they are entertainers, they don't need to. As long as they can wake up young people to the fact that the right is lying to them they're making a positive contribution. To poke holes into the rightist narrative might prove more valuable than educating people on socialist ideology as long as the right has such a monopoly on the public opinion.

Plus, they mostly promote positive morals and that's something we need more of.
