Not trying to shill defeatism but bear with me

Not trying to shill defeatism but bear with me.

It just hit me right now that we have NO influential figures at the moment, NO actual organization in the left that isn't co-opted by cops/secret services. Like the 20th century was filled with crazy potential but it all seems dead now.

What with climate change, socialist countries turning revisionist or being destroyed, American imperialism going unchallenged and a general acceptance of morbid, quasi-fascist shit - I have to ask; is this it? Have we lost?

Are we in the worst possible timeline? I don't think "humanity" as we know it can survive for another century. The proles will probably be liquidated in some form or another, or they'd be completely hollow and devoid of any revolutionary potential.

This thread was inspired by me watching some Malcolm X videos on youtube, and ruminating on climate change being inevitable. Two different things I know but it leads me into the same cynicism.

I'm not worried about climate change. Just pray these people don't colonize other planets.

I think it's a matter of an influential person not so much being here at the right time so much as it is some person off the street being at the right place at the right time. The "great man" won't be someone who's practiced speeches or mingled with the working class, but some angry random with a megaphone that will be there right when the powder keg explodes.

Climate change is why socialism is inevitable. It's like posadism but literally unavoidable under capitalism.

The next major crisis of capital is around the corner. Given how many economic bubbles there are right now compared to 2008 (alongside a bunch of other shit), l can say with some level of confidence that the next crisis will be a big one. It is in these unpredictable situations where the most moves can be made in the shortest amount of time.

I just fear that some perverse fascist nightmare would be more probable than any revolution (in the first world). I feel like the liberals have intentionally trained this reserve army of fascists through subtle messaging. I mean look at the democrats in America; class collaboration and being pro-war, denouncing the fucking REPUBLICANS as being communist. It's nuts.

It's not only that our timeline is that of tragedy, it's becoming a fucking twisted hellscape, like some sick joke.

Why aren't you worried about climate change?

The problem with climate change denial is that those too stubborn to believe it only will when the effects are IMMEDIATELY apparent. So basically when they're fucking dying.

Those too stubborn not to believe it*

True, but how are we supposed to seize on that chance without organization? If the working class does not know who the enemy is, reactionary forces (who have control over almost everything) will just blame the Jews or some shit. Then we will fucking destroy ourselves in WW3 or some dumb shit. It is EXACTLY like Marx said.
We are seeing that "common ruin" right before our eyes, and it seems impossible to stop. Unless we undergo some massive organizational efforts and achieve massive popularity somehow; we are all fucking doomed.

This. We need a revised Posadism. At the time of Posadism's founding, nuclear catastrophe seemed more likely but it appears our species will suffer widespread catastrophe at the hand of capitalistic environmental destruction. Posadism + climate change alarmism + third-worldism is the way to go.

Because the sun is going to engulf our planet in a nuclear holocaust eventually so I don't feel too bad for using it up. I just hope we can minimize the damage to one planet.

Phillip K Dick was right. The future is right wing.

Unironically read Revelations. Things will get extremely bad in the first world before they even hint at getting better.

...

because it's going to happen and there's nothing you can do to stop it other than prepare/adapt
even if there was a global communist revolution tonight, at best you can only slow down the process

Seems like the dead will be the lucky ones in the coming years.

They are just as out of touch as the Tsar and Bourbons were. Conditions are always unbearable for the working class but they're becoming unbearable for the elites as well.

Why do these threads continue to prop up? What purpose do they serve? I get that you're a depressed sack of shit, but take it to some chatroom somewhere or something.

Because climate models are wildly inaccurate and if you have been politically active for more than 10 years you would know that. No one alive today will ever pay the price for climate change.

Millions are already paying the price for climate change you imbecile. Look up desertification.

Never claimed otherwise, I just said these are obvious effects we see RIGHT NOW at a much faster pace than ever before.
Again, I only referred to your insane claim that no one alive today would pay the price for climate change.

Desertification is the least of our problems with regards to climate change, you imbecile. Indeed, desertification is not unique to industrial capitalist societies. You may want to look the phenomenon up yourself before namedropping it like an insipid lemming.
We will not see complete destruction of the planet from climate change until 100 years from now. What I am saying is that humans can continue to pollute the ocean with plastic and chemicals for another century before the effects become pronounced. That's what user asked about, why you are not concerned with the change, and this is my answer. As effects become more pronounced, it will be up to the future generations to deal with it. Anything that is not an immediate threat to humans is never taken seriously. When has mankind ever thought long-term?

Derp.
Nope, so what? You think global warming only affects industrial societies?

You will be long dead before the effects set in. You will "pay" with wildfires, floods, poor air quality and poison in the water. After we are gone, then the price will really be paid. Vast swaths of the Earth completely uninhabitable. The collapse of the global financial system and international infrastructure. This is the price, and neither the hero of your Lenin hat flag that you disrespect so much with your inane sophistry nor you will pay for it.

No, just that desertification isn't. You are a pathetic and sad person.

Someone had a bad day today.

hahaha nice joke

Oh yeah that definitely is no price at all. If things can be worse then nothing is bad. And you call me a sophist.
And why did you even bring that up then? Nowhere did I imply that it was.

...

likely before that, arguably it's already started
30 years from now is going to be the point of full blown resource wars over what's left

What else do you call someone rabidly strawmanning you in response to a post that was in response to another user entirely?

Please read:
Moron.

Poor baby. This is the mindset of a liberal capitalist boomer. Muh taxes and wage stagnation are such a problem for me while I live in the most affluent neighborhoods in NY.
You brought up desertification, mongoloid.

The largest mass migration in history will occur because the subject nations have been so brutally exploited by imperialist powers that there is no reason to stay there, not because of global warming. Global warming will compound this effect in 100, not 30 years. There are people that have wrote about this in the 80s with the same 30 year timeline you propose.

America is going to get far more right wing as it gets actual geopolitical competition from BRICS. If India goes Maoist or Brazil and South Africa go full independent reactionary US rule will further entrench itself
