So what are the chances that Capitalism isn't a superorganism that will eventually consume mankind?

Chances: 0

It's inevitable! Moloch will consume not only mankind, but the Earth itself to manufacture hard drives to store crypto-currency and housing complexes to be used as investments!

Old Land sucks ass, when he's sober he's just a whiny nationalist.

...

Land and all of his followers are fucking idiots. Capitalism isn't 'going to' consume mankind you brainlets, it already has. Capitalism is a superorganism composed of mankind, along with its productive apparatus. It is what it has eaten. Land and his cultists spend all their time feeling smug about how they've developed this oh-so-clever analogy of capitalism-as-superorganism. What they fail to realise is not only that Marx beat them to the punch by two fucking centuries, but that Marx also took the analysis much further than those dork enlightenment dipshits would ever dare.

So yeah, capitalism is a superorganism, and yeah, it consumed humanity (again, it couldn't have done anything else: people are the units of which the superorganism is composed). But capital is the lifeblood of the superorganism. The engine of M-C-M' is its heart. And Land's cowardice, his fundamental lack of imagination, shines through in his failure to consider the most basic feature of organisms living in nature: Death. Pic related might as well have 'telomere count' on its y-axis. Superorganisms, like organisms, die. Without intervention, there are fundamental contradictions within the mechanisms of their operation that cause them to break down and cease operation. That very same process of death provides the feedstock for the next generation of superorganism. In other words, the tendency of the rate of profit to fall inexorably trends toward a condition in which value production, wages, and profits all go to zero. Under such a condition, capitalism is unable to continue normal operations (crisis). Being unable to continue along their previous course, the superorganism's component organisms (aka mankind) are forced to reorganise (revolution). In reorganising, a new superorganism is born (communism).

There is nothing anyone can do to stop the old superorganism's death, and nothing anyone can do to prevent the new superorganism's birth. All you can do is affect the timetable. Communism is the belief that we should 'rip the band-aid off', so to speak. We believe that dragging out the old superorganism's death serves nobody, and that we should do whatever we can to hasten the process of death and rebirth.

I bet that forehead consumes a lot of space on his face

the problem with Bill Nye I mean Nick Land, is he thinks accelerationism is infinite when wtf will happen when the tires fall off or it runs out of gas? Year Zero?

exactly.

I've never read him but picked up a bit about him from seeing threads on him here, but doesn't he believe capitalism will just keep surmounting all the obstacles in front of it?
Not in the kind of way people would like, but in a blocked out sun over a blackened sky to solve climate change kind of way.

he does but that's a pretty farsighted assumption you can make the finite into the infinite.

the problem with Nick Land is the earth eventually runs out of money and resources.

Does he make any effort to prove that capitalism can get off planet for, say, asteroid mining?

...

dude nothing on earth could withstand Titan's atmosphere. how about Nick Land go up there and mine it for himself if he's so gusto?

its more likely we'll get hit by said asteroid before that happens.

that's what Dyson spheres are for.

I'm just messing around.

Imagine how dense it must be to form oil lakes on the surface.

capitalism is not an organism, because in an organism all the different organs work for mutual benefit.
crapitalism is a giant ponzi scheme and it works exactly like a fucking ponzi scheme.

moar liek that's what ur mum is 4.

you haven't read Marx

Capitalism is the appendix. It was useful once but it's a mystery why it's still around.

Does someone have a link of the previous Nick Land thread?

J-Jehu, is that you?

t. rousseauan socialist

Jehu's got a lot of good points, but his praxis is dogshit. 'just stop working you guys' is exactly as uselessly unworkable as all the other dumbass shit the Left comes up with. I've got other ideas, but I only got one lonely (You) for them in the Optimism thread so who the fuck knows whether they're any good.

Dark englightenment/NRX are not the same as right accelerationism.
Nick Land talks a lot about neoreaction, and helped bridge the gap between it and accelerationism, but he is pretty clearly not a neoreactionary himself.

No?
Accelerationists, even right accelerationsists, universally credit Marx as the first person to understand the real nature of capital.

Definitely if you are talking about guys like Moldbug, but again, people need to stop confusing dark enlightenment with accelerationism.
