There's already a lot of interest among space companies in figuring out ways to mine asteroids; once we manage that, the influx of resources will buy us more than enough time to develop effective colonization techniques, and either ftl or some sort of human preservation technology for spreading outside our solar system.

The big overarching problem is what we do when we run out of resources to exploit in the universe, but that's so incomprehensibly far off that there's no telling what means we'll have developed by then to circumvent those restrictions.

How do you overpopulate a universe? It's literally infinite.

The Universe is finite. the time the universe has existed is finite and known. The amount of energy the universe contains is finite and known. The amount of matter the universe contains is finite and known. The amount of space the universe contains is finite and known.

They're always the world-wide minority. They're always "dying out." The pressure from always facing extinction forces them to be great. Compare this to niggers growing up in one of the most resource rich continents in the world, where food and shelter can be so naturally plentiful that living is super easy as long as you don't believe in concepts like "quality of life."

The long-term successful society, in a world with many different societies, will be the one that grows when it can and fights when it runs out of resources. It is useless to live an ecologically sustainable existence in the “Garden of Eden” unless the neighbors do so as well. Only one nonconservationist society in an entire region can begin a process of conflict and expansion by the “grasshoppers” at the expense of the Eden-dwelling “ants.” This smacks of a Darwinian competition “survival of the fittest” between societies. Note that the “fittest” of our two groups was not the more ecological, it was the one that grew faster. The problem I have with the film (I was forced to watch it yesterday because it was my dad's birthday) is that half of the people in severely underpopulated places like Wakanda were killed off while half of the people in very overpopulated places were killed off as well without it really making any difference though.

Also, it was random killing, as opposed to say killing the most degenerate and weak.

If I was in charge I'd kill huge portions of very overpopulated populations and leave other places pretty much alone, and the portion killed would be the weakest and most degenerate.
