I grew up on a farm in East Europe. Not a massive industrialized farm, but a subsistance farm my great grandmother owned, it brought in enough food to feed her family and that's about it. The work day for fifteen year old me was twelve to sixteen hours and consists of more intense labor than sitting in a cubicle. I had parts of skin just rub off on my palms, I got plantar fasciitis in both feet multiple times, the body just begins to break down because you're frantically working to bring the harvest in by the deadline – if the crop dies on the field you die. In terms of money, nothing grown was traded for money, her only source of income was her husbands military pension from the war, equivalent to about $100 a month. The money box even had some silver German coins from the 1600s, that's how rarely it got used.
These retards probably made the absurd claim that since a farmer doesn't sell his crops, he's not working. Or even dumber - a farmer "does not work" except to sow and reap - and then averaged the days he "didn't work".
Farmers do work between harvests, especially subsistence farmers. Sunday was the only day we did not work, this wasn't because of some religious bullshit, it was because we needed at least one day to heal before next weeks work. Priests just took that rest day for religious purposes. The only time we generally did not "work" the field was during winter, but even then just surviving took work. If you wanted a hot meal you had to get up at four in the morning, get dressed, go off in the nearby forest, cut off a few branches, tie them to the sled, bring them back, hack them into smaller pieces, and put them on the fire. By that time it's almost eight oclock, and if someone wants to tell me four hours backbreaking labor in freezing cold isn't equivalent to eight hours of a car salesman filling out forms… they can get fucked.
About the only good thing about living on a farm is the girls, and that's only because sex was the only form of entertainment.

Medieval villages would have communal farms, with every family working. It wasn't one family to a farm, like you were doing, where one kids has to run around and do everything as his grandmother sits around in the house.

And yes, of course peasants had to work less. They lived on commons and grew their own food. They didn't have to convert their labour back into currency then see what it was worth. A large chunk of their labour went directly into food production for their own consumption, so none of its value was taken by a jew middle man.
It should be obvious that modern workers will have to put in more hours to survive, because they're not only working for their own food but to feed the boss, and the HR department (makework jobs given to women as stealthy wealth redistribution), and the share holders.
