What do you guys think? I'm an Ortho, and unless this is some 97d sideways othello I'm pretty disappointed

I'm sure he's not a bad guy but this is pretty gay

i hope he means we join the hitler youth not the blm antifa faggot youth

imo it doesn't seem inherently modernist, but rather naïve. I'm pretty sure that everyone participating in these marches has heard the message of Christianity, and is rejecting it of their own volition (big assumption but also big if true). The Orthodox faithful going out like that will not only reflect poorly upon us (again, imo) because we'll be participating in this march, where most of the attendees are either sodomites, apostates, or of some other spiritual disposition/delusion, and are protesting against the wrong thing and losing focus of where the core of the matter has, and always will be, Sin, but actual participation will not make much of a difference, as these people are assumedly rejecting the Faith, and they won't want to come to church.
This very well may be a bad start for this Metropolitan, but God has chosen to put him in this position. Who am I to judge what he says and does, when my own sins are numberless?

Also this:

I don't think he's a bad guy, but I can't help but think he has absolutely no idea what he's doing

He's talking about the faggot tideivors for sure

I think this is how I feel, but I also have seen nearly no details so I'm not doubling down
I think this is party right part wrong. Most have only heard a version of Christianity that those of us who are Orthodox would consider heresy, and many have only heard a version nearly all of us on here would agree is heresy. I do feel for them and would like them to hear the truth, but I can't help but feel that in these actions the bishop is distancing himself from non-Orthodox people that have heard a portion of the Christian message and held it, specifically rural conservatives, in favor of those who actively reject the portion they have heard.
I have a hard time with talking about clergy, especially as I didn't grow up Orthodox, but I can't help but feel they can't hide behind a shield of God made me do it. Any good they do is in cooperation with God and any sin is their own, and all we can do is speculate which is which

Antifa: we hate Christians and want them dead
BLM: we hate white people and want them dead
Feminists: we have patriarchy and want it dead

A white Christian patriarch: these are ok people and we should support them

Sounds like a dumbass to me, does church leadership becoming deeply concerned with meeting the apostate youth halfway ever yield fruit?

Wtf are we ChristAntifa now?

Like others pointed out, it's mostly naivety; this does not mean we should endorse this statement, but no man is without flaws (and yes, we must address the mistakes, but we must always do it in a Christian way).

Both sides are our enemies. Both sides are spawns of Socialism. Maybe the "nu Hitler youth" is less hostile to us and shares some of our values, but we are not the same as them. A Christian can wish to keep my Country for his/her own people, but we do not see all Africans and black people as niggers and sub-humans: we will gladly point out the bad ones and admonish them that they ought to change their ways and even punish them for their crimes, but we don't need to hate them for the sole reason that they are from a different ethnic group.

Please, stop repeating these Hollywood retarded fantasies

Technically, we should reject all ideologies and embrace theocratic monarchy…

I don’t want them in Europe, and I want the criminal ones to go to jail. I don’t deny the fact many if not most of them have horrible behaviours and are unlikable, but a true Christian should not hate even his worst enemy; rebuke and fight him indeed, but remember not to mix the wheat with the chaff. Same reason why I disagree with Common Filth, with the Left and other groups like Antifa when they say it’s all white peoples fault if society has turned into this limbo of horrors or when the claim that racism and sexism, islamiphobia and homophobia to be the real issues of the West.
I am right wing, there’s no need to hate other races and ethnic groups whilst wishing your Nation and family united in a land and under one God

I believe in racial differences, I believe that on average blacks are more violent and less intelligent than whites. I do believe that racial separation as a general principle is ideal. Nevertheless, I have no desire to hate all blacks or view them as scum. We don't need to believe in egalitarian falsehoods in order to love our neighbor. Every last one of us living is a sinner and most of us are heading straight to hell. Despite this God still offers his grace to all of us. Do we really have the right to be less loving than God?

something to this tune it seems, IMO I think what he wants is us to try and engage and evangelize them but the way he worded it was not the best as he makes it seem like we should back their politics (which if he were given the truth and evidence of these groups he'd likely be very appalled at)

Glad to see someone who can put my thoughts into meaningful words!

I agree. But something that makes me weary is that he says we need to find 'new ways of engaging them'. I'm 90% sure he doesn't intend to change much about the church (orthodox don't believe in change anyways) but just from that statement I feel like he needs to have an eye kept on him.

don’t think that the ortho Church is immune to such faggotry. Even metropolitan Tikhon spoke at billy Graham’s funeral saving he was certainly saved, despite mr. graham being an iconoclast and saying terrible things about the lords most pure mother and the saints. Pray that the (American) church survives the modernist attacks, and that the confused under the new calendar return home

very much related

Ameridoxy sucks, what else is new.

Take comfort in the fact that most Orthodox in the world aren't Rod Dreher.

I do not trust those media.

I have read about same thing on Vatican news portal. (link related)
I thought that Holy Father was talking about defending faith, not about march thing.

Francis is such a typical, clueless boomer.

source?

The march is about the gun thingy, right?

Well, most orthodox countries aren't exactly into gun culture, so they might be more sympathetic to methods to keep it to a lower level.

And yeah, lot of folks there are annoying liberals, but that's mostly a consequence of american politics and marxist memes, where everything is lumped into 2 groups that are direct opposites of each other, and you can't support X without associating yourself with all the weirdos from the other side.

Thats part of the issue if the bishops on up are not american they need to keep in mind things are different here and respect that or risk alienating possible converts outside the east and left coasts

Every historic Christian church in the US is now calling for gun control. Something to think on.

Nah

Know your place Zig Forumsack.

The sowrd is not to be understood literally (compare vv 49-51), but refers to the living word of God in the battle against sin (Eph 6:17, Heb 4:12) St Ambrose adds an additional meaning: that giving up one's garments and buying a sword refers to surrendering the body to the sword of martyrdom. Because the disciples were thinking of swords literally, Jesus abruptly ends the discussion with the words "It is enough," or better translated, "Enough of this!" (see Dt 3:26, Mk 14:41). - From OSB commentary.

These things don't fit into your interpretation that the sword he speaks of is the sword of the spirit.
Indeed the first time they were sent out they were armed with nothing but the sword of the spirit; the Word of God. Their needs were met by providence. Now Jesus tells them to prepare physically for hard times, taking care for their finances and protection. If you compare with Acts they follow His instruction.
As far as the account of Peter and the servant's ear, look at what Jesus says here–
Jesus chose to go to the cross, He didn't resist the shame of crucifixion. all these things were accomplished.
I don't accept your interpretation, but even if I did I wouldn't throw out the entirety of Old Testament militarism to suck at Peirs Morgans enlightened European teat.

He's not talking about whatever protests you guys have going on in America.

Why do Americans always assume that the world revolves around them?
