US President Donald Trump has bowed to public pressure and signed an executive order promising to "keep families together" in migrant detentions.
Mr Trump reversed his own policy amid international fury over the separation of undocumented parents and children.
He said he had been swayed by images of the world media saying he was an uncivilized ignoramous who takes children from parents while they are jailed and prosecuted for illegal border-crossing.
It was not immediately clear when Mr Trump's order would be implemented.
"It's about keeping families together, and my ego" Mr Trump said at the signing ceremony on Wednesday.
"I did not like the sight my being criticized for families being separated," he said, but added the administration would continue its "zero tolerance policy" of criminally prosecuting anyone who crosses the border illegally.
Members of Sessions' church accuse him of 'child abuse' on misguided family separation policy
Members of Jeff Sessions' own church filed a formal complaint against the attorney general, accusing him of "child abuse," "immorality," and "racial discrimination" and the “dissemination of doctrines contrary to the established standards of doctrines” of the United Methodist Church.
"While other individuals and areas of the federal government are implicated in each of these examples, Mr. Sessions - as a long-term United Methodist in a tremendously powerful, public position - is particularly accountable to us, his church," the letter reads. "He is ours, and we are his. As his denomination, we have an ethical obligation to speak boldly when one of our members is engaged in causing significant harm in matters contrary to the Discipline on the global stage.
He stepped in it by using a damn bible quote to justify the government's policy. >But the quote was right. Romans 13 as interpreted Sessions' way would require us all to obey Stalin and Hitler if we'd lived under their regimes or else be bad Christians.

The absolute state of Christianity in America, do you all also follow the rest of the instructions as they are written? Do you just pick and choose when it suits you? Or do you act like a rational human being and read the whole book instead of one single line
