US inmates stage nationwide prison labor strike over 'modern slavery'

The first part of the prisons likely to be hit will be the kitchens, where stoves will remain unlit, ready-meals unheated and thousands of breakfasts uncooked.

From there the impact will fan out. The laundry will be left unwashed, prison corridors un-mopped, and the lawns on the external grounds ring-fenced with barbed wire will go uncut.

On Tuesday, America’s vast army of incarcerated men and women – at 2.3m of them they form by far the largest imprisoned population in the world – will brace itself for what has the potential to be the largest prison strike in US history.

Nineteen days of peaceful protest are planned across the nation, organised largely by prisoners themselves.

One of the most passionately held demands is an immediate end to imposed labor in return for paltry wages, a widespread practice in US prisons that the strike organisers call a modern form of slavery. More than 800,000 prisoners are daily put to work, in some states compulsorily, in roles such as cleaning, cooking and lawn mowing.

The remuneration can be as woeful in states such as Louisiana as 4 cents an hour.

The idea that such lowly-paid work in a $2bn industry is equivalent to slavery is leant weight by the 13th amendment of the US constitution. It banned slavery and involuntary servitude, with one vital exception: “as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted”.

Prisoners, in other words, have no constitutional rights and can be blatantly exploited.

Inmates who join the action know that they face potentially serious consequences. Participants face being placed individually into isolation cells, while past prison strikes have been met with lockdowns of entire institutions.

Communications too are certain to be blocked, leading potentially to a blackout of news on the protest.

According to prison reform activists engaged in planning the strike, retaliatory measures have already started. Karen Smith, who runs the Gainesville, Florida chapter of the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee that is backing the strike, said that prison authorities have moved most of the local strike organisers into solitary confinement wings where they will be unable to communicate with others.

“Other inmates have been warned that if they continue to contact advocacy groups they will be moved to the most brutal camps.”

Can anyone elaborate, “Other inmates have been warned that if they continue to contact advocacy groups they will be moved to the most brutal camps.”

"The most brutal camps."

What do they mean by that exactly? Solitary confinement? Torture?

The prison staff are not going to be held responsible if, say, someone is killed or assaulted by another prisoner, so I'd imagine they'll just put them in a cell with the dumbest, most violent apes they can find and turn the cameras off. Or maybe just kill them themselves and say they we're mysteriously shanked or something.

Amazing that people are demanding more Socialism while this shit is going on…. We're one step away from being a total Nazi/Communist hell hole…. The same faction that Socialized america in the 1930's also put the Japanese constitutionally protected natural born in work camps…. and they didn't give them back their properties.

This is a planted strike by Jewish entities to draw the light off the absurd prison sentences, which would link them to the copyright lobby and would expose a Jewish crime ring inside the US justice system. Rather than that let the "numbers discarded from society" have their strike which will make them happy, pay them a couple of cents more to make the prison system seem fair and righteous to the common folk and enjoy your uncontested crime syndicate for the next decades. Also don't be surprised to see the same system implemented in Europe in the near future (but shhh…you don't hear that from me)

Having been to prison before, I can tell you that certain 'camps' (prisons) are much more dangerous than others. Corrections Departments begin each prisoner's stay with a 'grid', a diagnostic evaluation to determine their status regarding violent history, education, rehabilitation likelihood, etc.

Afterwards, they are shipped out to an appropriate prison. These days, the thing that makes certain prisons more dangerous is the amount of 90s Babies, as they are called. These younger inmates are uneducated, have absolutely no respect for themselves or anybody else, no integrity, and are extremely prone to violence for no reason whatsoever.

The '90s Babies' will literally stab and kill you for absolutely no reason. They are so stupid that it's mind-boggling, and to them it's important to prove they don't care if they spend the rest of their life in prison on a murder charge, when they were originally incarcerated a drug charge and could have been paroled 2 years later.

Even in safer prisons, there are always one or two dorms with dangerous reputations, called Thunder Dorms, where anything could happen, and usually does.

Put a camera in there and we have pay per view for decades.

it's amusing to watch a wimpy, inexperienced, sedentary, uneducated sissy like you struggle to apply your low self-esteem template of 'jew this, Jew that' to every subject that crosses your boring path.

The fact is: while you are so desperate to try and be perceived as being some kind of 'badass', you are an out-of-shape computer geek who sits trapped in your room sitting in front of your monitor all day long, and the average 14 year old kid in a juvenile detention center would beat the ever-living shit out of you…

You wouldn't last one day in a County Jail, let alone 5 minutes in a state prison…

You're so boring……

Seriously…. I'm not taking sides on the Jewish Nazi bullshit… Nobody really cares about that nonsense… I'm talking about YOU as a person…..

your personality…. Or to be more precise, lack thereof…..

You're such a boring piece of shit

You're so fucking predictable and repetitive…. You're too stupid to develop something interesting to use as a 'trigger' soapbox, and completely oblivious to the fact that nobody gives a fuck about your 'hot topic'….

Girls in particular don't give a fuck about what you think

That's why you don't have a girlfriend. That's why girls overlook you and ignore you all the time….

Girls think you're a fucking joke

And they're right…. You ARE….

You're angry and bitter and resentful because of your own inadequacies, and you're a coward so you're not big enough to admit that you created all of your own problems, and your shortcomings are all a product of your own fear, which has kept you from accomplishing anything…

You're just like a little girl who's always complaining and wants to point a finger at somebody else to blame them for your own poopy diapers….

When I was in the Georgia Department of Corrections, I actually spent 6 months on a 'thunder dorm'…..

Prison is not the way you imagine.

The shit you see on TV and in the movies is dramatized nonsense.

I saw some really brutal shit on the thunder dorm, but those situations generally only occur if somebody is being an idiot.

As long as you mind your own business and keep your mouth shut things for generally go by pretty smoothly

Honestly?

The worst shit I ever saw while in prison was over a debt.

90¢ to be exact

a Jumbo Iced Honey Bun

one inmate went to the 'store man' (another inmate who will advance you a snack item for two in return the next week) and had one honey bun 'fronted' to him. The following Wednesday when he didn't have two honey buns to repay the debt, he was brutally attacked by 40 or 50 inmates.

(and they weren't playing games)

They knocked his teeth out, broke his jaw and the orbit of his eye, broke ribs and broke one of his arms, they were holding him down and kicking him in the face and they picked him up and slammed his face into a metal pole, and as he screamed and begged and tried to get away everybody else kept taking turns on him….

I laid there on my bunk watching the entire event transpire, and although I was thinking to myself 'these fucking people are animals' of course I didn't say anything because if I did, they would have done the same shit to me.

NINETY CENTS

It's me, Johnny…take a chill pill with the shit-posting and wait until I've finished Drinky Crow.

Sorry was meant to respond to

THE CORRECT ANSWER WAS:

Of course from the outside looking in, you're not going to have the perspective required to realize what's actually happening behind those walls, but…..

THESE PRISONERS ARE RIGHT

it IS slavery…….
Those prisons are run by private companies, and they are making millions and millions and millions of dollars every year. They actually charge the state money every day, for every inmate, generally making anywhere between $80 and $200 a day, per inmate, for 'taking care' of them.

But the prisons only spend about $0.45 on each inmate per day, including the cost of food.

Most prisons own farms, where they grow their own food so they don't have to buy it, including the slaughtering of animals.

The farmers who tend to these crops and animals are actually inmates, being forced to work for free.

The other 'details' the inmates get 'assigned to' are landscaping and other various menial backbreaking jobs, like cleaning up huge messes for local jurisdictions, in massive contracts between different cities and counties & the privately-run prison corporations.

They cut deals with cities for low bid contracts, where they line their pockets and forced inmates to do the work….

"But They're Convicted Of Crimes, So They Deserve It"

not necessarily….

Take it from me, you would be amazed how many people are wrongfully convicted, or serving prison sentences that don't match the crime.

Sure, most inmates are guilty, and many of them have committed very serious crimes….

But the justice department itself admits that perhaps up to 40% of convicted inmates were wrongfully convicted.

You would be amazed how many people are sitting in prison right now, and actually did not commit the offense as charged

LOL

OOOPS!!!!!

Hahaha

well, I'm convinced that my post was appropriate for somebody somewhere

...

And would the all knowing Neptune be so nice to further impart his knowledge to the overlap between prison sentences of over a hundred years, pushed ominously by the same judges, lawyers and lobbyists that are pushing the copyright scheme above and beyond the hundred year mark?

Small world, isn't it?

David Koch does that to entire nations.

This wasn't about 90¢, it was about the opportunity to get a Jumbo Iced Honey Bun when you really need one. Even if you don't have the money at the moment. That's an important service, and people who don't pay ruin it for everybody.

Well, we did had to get rid of em' by enslaving to get our hands on all those delicious diamonds, so maybe you should keep the fault question under lock down for now.

Dear Johnny,

Seems that the website 8ch.net/n/ is accessible using NordVPN services.
Could you please clarify for us, if you were using the NordVPN application or the NordVPN browser extension? Would be also great if you could tell us what exact servers were you using.

The access to the website was tested while connected to the higher number US servers also whit CyberSec feature enabled. Most likely, that particular IP addresses or subnets are blacklisted by this website. I would recommend connecting to the higher number servers, as the higher number indicates that they are newly released, therefore it will provide you the access to the website.

It might also help to clear the browser cache, alternatively, you can use the Incognito mode on the browser.

I switched to VPNhub anyway

ExpressVPN rocked, too

BAN TRADE UNIONS NOW

Yep… It was about 'Speckt (what the apes call 'respect')

by not having the two honeybuns, as promised, he had displayed a lack of respect, and therefore tried to chump off the store man.

An example was made out of him.

Tbqh, from the minute that guy asked the store man to front him the item, everybody in the dorm knew he wouldn't be able to pay it back, so pretty much instantly the word spread that next Wednesday, that guy was going to get it…

As each day passed, a certain amount of excitement built about the upcoming event.

Personally, I fucking HATED the guy, but watching them savagely beat him was disturbing. They we're slamming his face into concrete and steel. it was overkill.

not cool

Make trade unions transparent so that Communist political activists can't manipulate the unions from within.

Attached: Socrates2-900x600.jpg (900x600, 77.27K)

Oh, Shit !!!
I almost forgot the punchline to the story….

That guy was injured so severely, requiring surgery to his jaw and the orbit of his eye, not to mention his arm, that the Georgia Department of Corrections shipped him off to Augusta State Prison, which is a medical facility.

He was gone for about a month, and when he returned no, they put him right back onto the same dorm (because the guards and the administration in those prisons are sadistic motherfuckers)

And of course, he still owed the store man, who now was saying he owed him a lot more than just too honey buns for the 'interest'.

That guy 'hit the door', as they call it, literally begging to be let out of the thunder dorm, and they put him into solitary confinement

TWO*

Its incredibly depressing that this hellhole website is just a more racist than average boomer facebook group now.

I've read that prison guard is one of the top professions among sociopaths. Because they don't feel empathy, and may even enjoy mistreating people.

What era duth the hail from?

Biggers work? If they worked they won't be in jail most likey.

once you've been behind those walls, you gain a true perspective on what's really going on in there.

I honestly don't regret it.

A funny thing happens when you get out of prison: street cred

guys would never believe it, but girls actually LIKE it. for some reason, it turns them on.

when I was released, I was at a friend's house, and a hot as shit girl named Kaitlyn found out I had just been released, and she hit on me SO hard.

I ended up fucking the ever livin' shit outta Kaitlyn for months…

She kept asking me to marry her, and she was 32 years younger than me.

Go figure….

Attached: Kaitlyn Neptune.jpg (480x640, 34.72K)

…..yep

honestly, blacks are disproportionately incarcerated and targeted….

most of them are NOT murderers or rapists, and were victimized by the plea bargain process

absolutely

people tend to find jobs that appeal to their inner selves

for example, a very large percentage of EMTs are into necrophilia

Its these private prisons aiming to maximize profit through lax regulation, you make products now prisoner! and not for commissary and not as part of general population!

Not sensible shit you could expect prisoners with low iq to do like cut grass or sew mailbags, but people making parts for airplane engines at boeing and holding them to minimum standards ad people getting punished if they do it wrong, competing with chinese imports so manufacturers can slap a us made sticker on them.

When planes start falling out of the sky because tyrone iq 75 made them instead of a college educated machinist or prisoners start rioting socialism gets called out and not irresponsible ancapism. These prisons are not being run with an ounce of duty of care or respect for inmates and guards, ergo as businesses they fail in providing a decent service for taxpayer contracts.

But the drugs that come in the prison are bought in by corrupt guards for the money or they are easily bribed, the contract is fixed in advance for money in a swiss bank account with a local politician and manufacturing companies get cheap shitty parts for electronic and mechanical goods.

those buying those planes from boeing get cheated when the parts fail and that already has happened, the meth and heroin addicts are failed in going cold turkey in prison because mr businessman has good links with the cartels and everything is corrupt and the taxpayer fails because of rigged politicians and prison inc not doing anything to justify their contract in rehabilitation of criminals because it makes them more money to do otherwise.

even libertarians and anarchists can agree there needs to be a basic set of corruption and moral checks on operators of such sites, which would close many sadly.

I'll take skewed statistics for 100 Alex

Yeah they're armed roobers

*robbers

How much street cred do you get for trying to scam a dunkin donuts lol

David Koch is actually the good guy.
Wow.

Wow niggers dominate every type of crime but DUI's, and not by a small margin either.

...

The entire problem is that prisons are largely privatized. This is unironically a situation that more socialism would have prevented entirely.

A: this morning, before she left for work, Wendy made me coffee and gave me head….

does that answer your question?

My turn……

Q: how much street cred do you get from playing video games?

wow those are conviction statistics, not necessarily the actual commission of the crimes.

I'm not debating whether or not black people commit more crimes or less crimes than white people

But I would be remiss if I failed to mention that your statistical graphs and charts only reflect CONVICTIONS, 98% of which were achieved through a plea bargain process

wWOWw

3D wow ©1998 johnny neptune

Why do people take plea bargains? Because if the go in front of a jury, odds are good that they get fucked even harder. So why not take a lesser charge?

Why are you trying to make it sound like a ple bargain is racist or wrong?

And while private corporations running detention facilities figure out ways to increase their profit margin by using forced slave labor from inmates, (most of whom are black, and whose sentences don't necessarily fit the crime) white guys wearing $4,000 suits managed to literally steal $24,000,000,000,000.00, knowingly committing blatant felonies, all while receiving a pat on the back from the United States government, without ever having to worry about spending one day in jail.

You and your hate boner for games…I bet you had an Amiga but couldn't afford the floppy drive for it. All those memories of other kids playing Fate of Atlantis and Moonstone and here was little Neptune pretending to enjoy the build-in educational programs.

correction:

That's not the way it really works.

The plea bargain process is built upon unfairly piling on extra charges, or increasing the severity of charges, thereby creating falsely inflated 'maximum possible sentence range', with little to no actual regard towards whether or not the defendant actually committed the crime.

For example, people regularly end up being criminally prosecuted in civil matters, which violates the rights afforded to us by the Constitution, but the criminal justice system doesn't care, and they will still proceed with the prosecution, while the defendant should rightfully have their case heard in a civil courtroom.

Everybody knows the bulshit brainwashing red white and blue nonsense about the 'right to a fair trial', but the true mechanism of coercion behind a plea bargain offer is realized when an assistant public defender threatens the defendant, telling him that if he forces the prosecution to take their case to trial (their right) they will be punished to the maximum extent of the law…..

The defendant is told that the court will lash out at them if they have to go to trial, and the judge will throw the book at them as punishment, giving them the full maximum sentence, and showing no discretion to give a minimum or lightened sentence….

By this time, even if you were innocent of the crime, you have started to realize that the game is rigged and you don't have a chance against the system, so 98% of the time, the defendant will accept a plea bargain out of fear, whether they are guilty or not….

In America, 98% of all criminal prosecutions are settled on plea bargains…..

This means that they never have to actually do their job and give people their constitutional right to a fair trial….

It's like a McDonald's that sells 100 hamburgers, but only has to cook two of them….

Once the defendant has been effectively bullied and frightened into the realization that there's no such thing as 'truth and Justice and Liberty for all for all', and they realize the game is rigged, and they don't stand a chance, they are generally offered probation in exchange for their guilty plea.

And that's where the money making begins. Fines and fees and 'restitution money' that never goes back to the victims, etc etc

Many of these plea bargains end up with a prison sentence… And that's another huge money-making business…

I'm not saying that everybody is innocent, because obviously they're not….

But what I AM saying is there are a large number of cases where people get railroaded, where extenuating circumstances and mitigating factors never get heard, because the system is designed to steamroll over people, and deny them the right to a fair trial… This status quo procedure invariably ends up in a certain number of conviction rates which may very well be thrown out of court if it was taken to trial…

A 'fair' trial is a fair trial, not a shell game of intimidation and coercion, threatening an unfair trial if you don't plead guilty before it ever goes to trial….

lol @ being so stupid you would think a Commodore Amiga's graphic capabilities should be wasted on playing video games instead of creating 3D animation and music…..

He Threatened to kill Trump…. Why Trump out of all people? The most guarded person in the world who doesn't actually have as much impact as people think….

people make me sick to my stomach… I cannot believe how stupid the human race truly is

Why? What would your ideal life look like?

I am definitely not one of those Alex Jones idiotic conspiracy theorists… But I definitely believe that we are headed towards martial law, sooner rather than later….

That being said, it's safe to assume that prison is going to become a very important subject to a lot of people who otherwise would never even give it any thought…

The talk about secret prisons being built is actually true, and they're not building them just because they enjoy the construction business…

Things are going to change, and I believe we are headed in that direction in an expedited fashion

My family and my animals, and it's hard to say where one begins and the other one ends

My 'ideal life' would revolve around nobody involving themselves in it, while I didn't involve myself in anybody else's either…

My 'utopia' would be far far away from the rest of the human race

Well, people are just going to have to commit 6 days a week and 12 hours a day + commute to their jobs in order to have an ideal life with all of the socialist taxes.

SPEAKING OF WHICH:

A N N O U N C E M E N T :

TONIGHT I AM MAKING A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

I can't wait!

I have been a freelance illustrator my whole life, and I've only had 3 real jobs (Each of which were independent contractor status)

-I drove a limousine for a record company before I had a driver's license (and was allowed to dress and do whatever the fuck I felt like doing, because they wanted a rock and roll dead Elvis limousine driver to pick up their clients from the airport)

- strip club DJ

-ZZ Top's art director

I don't have a boss

Two days ago I found out that a girl I used to fuck the shit out of has been diagnosed with leukemia

She's undergoing a promising treatment called CAR-T therapy

If you research the treatment, it's pretty interesting… I think I'm going to give her a call and talk to her for a little while….

Everybody be well I'll see you tonight

Here she is with her douchebag Tom green looking boyfriend

Attached: 11169591_982971748410244_9184162926695605702_o.jpg (960x1280, 52.63K)

she's scared as shit….

understandably so

See ya later

Well, of course many individuals will vary from the norm. Also, I doubt you're really climbing the wealth ladder.

Our prison systems are privately owned, and our politicians get… fuck tech. terms, basically they get bought out to agree with policies that will fill prisons and create a need for them. That's why the war on drugs still exist. Easy targets, but high volume.

what's going on in this thread?

RE: war on drugs-
one of the main factors I was going to mention earlier, but forgot, because I'm flawed.

not anymore I'm not. not like I used to, that's for sure. There was a time when the economy was different and I was averaging anywhere from $4,000 to $5,000 every week or so (and I never considered illustrating or painting murals to be 'work', so I think I had the best job on Earth)

The problem was ME, and my impulsive personality, where I was spending around $6,000 a week… I would buy my girlfriend an $800 rubber dress to wear out to a $400 dinner, and I'd buy $500 worth of pot and MDMA and we'd go out to the nightclubs afterwards and I just blow money like it was going out of style….

Foolish?… sure
Regrets?… Not even one

Obviously the economy changed, and everything's different now, but I'm still making it. These days my wife and I live a very simple life, my kids are grown up, and I can honestly say I'm much happier now than I was when I lived in a luxury highrise burning through all that money.

It's just us and our animals, and everything is complete, and I feel very content with my life.

When I was living in a $3,700 a month (absolutely fucking gorgeous and breathtaking) luxury highrise overlooking Atlanta, charging out the ass for murals that would only take me a day or two to complete

(but it was important to make it seem like it took longer, because some clients would get upset spending that much money for 1 or 2 days of 'work', so I'd stretch it out for a week)

I got so good at the SALE, that I no longer even found happiness from the ART.

I was making more money than any of my friends with college degrees and really good jobs….

……. But I wasn't really necessarily happy……

Attached: jn logo.jpg (1268x1440, 146.31K)

Oops…. $3,800 not $3,700

anyway…. I was living in such wanton abandon & excess, that my 'tolerance' for everything went through the roof.

drugs, sex, food, anything…. I had become a fiend, continually needing to burn through more and more… The more money I made, the faster I spin it on crazy wild partying and I had some really great experiences that I'll never forget… But looking back on it now, I wasn't necessarily happy.

Attached: JOHNNY NEPTUNE.jpg (600x450, 17.08K)

But these days, although I do a lot of things in excess, drugs are no longer one of them, and I no longer have a desire to buy $800 rubber dresses before we go out to eat dinner, and I don't mind going to the funky little restaurants instead of the glitzy newest places to open in Buckhead

My wife and I spend our time enjoying nature as much as possible and we do a lot of work with animals, rescuing them and finding them homes…. Instead of focusing on buying fancy gadgets and $2,500 fiber optic acrylic water and bubble sculptures for my living room, I'm more concerned about always having cat and dog food with me so I can feed stray starving animals whenever I find them….

and I'm happy as shit

I really am…. Because I'm a dick head, people always want to assume that I must be miserable with my life, and I want to 'take it out on other people', but that's actually not true at all. Not even in the least. I've probably never been happier in my life….

(Because happiness really has nothing to do with how much money you are making or spending)

It's about finding your purpose

Attached: 1456624029267.png (820x461, 130.13K)

f u l l c i r c l e

….and believe it or not, strangely enough, one of the things that make me learn how to be happy was going to prison…..

That's where I learned a valuable lesson: I am able to find happiness with very little, and it has nothing to do with material bulshit or how many 'honey buns' you might buy or sell…..

….there, you really only have two choices…. You can accept reality and find happiness within, 'doing you time', or you can let your time do you…..

…. With nothing more than a 3 ft by 6 ft metal slab, a quarter inch thick mattress that's hard as a rock, in the blue-striped white inmate uniform the state supplies, you can you can still find happiness and laughter….

…. Or you can sit around feeling sorry for yourself…

I've got everything I need in my life, plus some…

The reason I'm a piece of shit is because I enjoy it…

Being an asshole is an art form, and I think I've got my own style, and I'm proud of my portfolio…

Prison should be slavery. Execute the unwashed masses.

…. Yet you will violate the law with every chance you get, to one degree or another, as long as you don't get caught, because you think you are entitled, you think you're better than other people, but you're actually a coward…

Your criteria is 'not getting caught', and has absolutely nothing to do with morals or ethics or your bullshit facade of self-righteousness….

If you had an opportunity to violate the law, and you were convinced you could get away with it without being arrested, you would be the first little weasel to show how greedy and selfish you are…..

(And you're too stupid to realize that you're already trapped in a prison of your own design)

100% TRUE:

I would much rather hang out with a nigger or a scumbag ex-con than to spend 5 minutes around YOUR creepy sheltered video game sissy ass any day of the week….

Considering the fact that everyone I know who's been to prison gets pussy, and you don't, I guess it's safe to say that 999 out of 1000 would agree that you are boring as fuck, and you don't interest them in the least…

All that bullshit your mother told you about you 'being special' was just meant to keep your spirits lately because you were so fucking lonely

(You're the farthest thing from a badass I've ever seen)
