A man found guilty of assaulting the organizer of the deadly Aug. 2017 alt-right Unite the Right rally was fined $1 for the crime, according to local media reports.
Jeffrey Winder was accused of punching organizer Jason Kessler in the back of the head during a press conference, local NBC affiliate WVIR-TV reports. He was found guilty in February, but Winder appealed.
He was again found guilty of misdemeanor assault and battery Tuesday by a jury and given a $1 fine with no jail time, The Daily Progress reports. Some jurors were tearful as the verdict was delivered.
Winder could have faced up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,500, The Washington Post reports.
Widner is one of several people who were charged with assault after a crowd surrounded Kessler, overrunning a press conference held after the rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“I was attacked in front of the whole world, and then people made fun of me for it,” Kessler said, according to The Daily Progress.

The problem is that the solutions he presented might never actually work. It's easier to analyse what is wrong with a society than to provide practical solutions. Capitalism is not sustainable. However no one has been able to get socialism right yet because you need leadership that isn't corrupt. And to provide incentives for employers to hire people outside of the metropolitan areas. 80+% of new jobs in Ontario all go to the Greater Toronto Area. So if you want to move 2 hours away from Toronto to save on housing, you can do so but it's a lot harder to get a job in the boonies.

The whole point of Marxism is not to say that everyone should live the NEET lifestyle. Obviously society requires labour to some extent. The point of Marxism is that no one who is able-bodied should be able to live the NEET lifestyle. Everyone should make a contribution to society. The employment rate in the United States is less than 60% of all adults 18-64. The unemployment statistics are fudged. How can unemployment be under 5% with the employment rate being under 60%? With all the people in society not working, you could easily shorten the work week at full employment.
There are tons of people in society who want to work but can't get a job because no one wants to hire them. The reason why lots of Americans are out of work is because labour utilisation today is so much more efficient than it was in the 1950s-1970s. So corporations need to cut labour costs. There are two things corporations can choose to do to accomplish this: 1) Shorten the work week or 2) Lay people off. Laying people off is the most efficient way to accomplish this. Shortening the work week would be a more expensive solution because the more people you have on the payroll (even if they are working only 25 hours/week), the higher your expenses. Have you ever stepped inside a payroll office? There are cabinets full of employee files. Lots of paperwork. It's more economical for a corporation to have five employees working 40 hours/week than eight employees working 25 hours/week. Unemployment is a feature of capitalism, not a bug.

We would need to re-industrialize first before we could do such a thing, because we rely too much on other countries for commodities, utilities and supplies. Their real mandate is to serve the corporate donors who cut their cheques. When you have direct control over the monetary supply: You can stimulate the economy during a recession or depression. Or cool the economy when it is over-heated. You can't do this so easily with gold and silver-backing. Because you need to have enough deposits in the vault to back all those dollars and the value of gold and silver swings wildly.
I don't necessarily believe we need a gold or silver standard. Gold and silver are commodities with use outside of money. But commodities are volatile assets. Demand for gold and silver yo-yos over time. Kind of like bitcoin.
If a Benjamin ($100 bill) is redeemable for $100 worth of gold (which is how it used to be in the old days) but the international price of gold drops, the US dollar then has less backing in the US government's gold vault. They have to deposit more gold in their vault to cover all the US Dollars they issued. But you can't just create gold out of thin air. You have to mine it and there is a finite amount of gold in the earth. Because if you deposit $100 worth of gold in the vault in 2018 and then you now want to redeem $100 worth of gold in 2019 and the value of gold in 2019 is lower, you are now entitled to receiving more gold in 2019 for your Benjamin than you deposited in 2018….
A Gold/Silver standard would definitely insure that the US government can't run deficits without limits. Because if the US government wants to run a deficit (which would lead to the creation of more dollars), they would need to deposit more gold and silver in the vault to cover that deposit. Because those extra dollars have to be backed by something of value.

I was actually a fan of Bernie Sanders in 2015-2016. But he is basically a cuckold. Hillary fucked him and he endorsed her anyways. And Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lack any sort of common sense when it comes to the immigration issue or things like free college. I fail to see how free college is going to lift millennials out of poverty. Many millennials are already college educated and they can't get jobs in their field of study. Things like a moratorium on immigration, affordable housing initiatives (building commieblock-style apartments that low-income people can afford), temporary rent control, telecommuting initiatives and job creation initiatives outside of the metropolitan areas are ways to practically deal with poverty.
They say rent control is bad because landlords will be less incentivized to rent out their property. I'd be willing to call their bluff. People are not going to just sit idle on their unused property. They're either going to continue to rent out their property or sell it. Selling pressure will cool the housing market. Which is what needs to happen. The boomers who just want the value of their homes to go up while all the renters and millennials living at home get fucked can go fuck themselves. A house is not supposed to be your bank account or your 401k. It's supposed to be a good. The housing market needs to cool off. Particularly here in Canada because we never had a housing bubble pop in 2007-2008 like the US did.
