Dec. 5 (UPI) – A statue created by the Chicago-area Satanic Temple joined the Illinois Capitol's holiday displays this year after the organization sought equal freedom of expression.
The display features the arm of a woman holding an apple as a snake coils around her forearm. It's a reference to the biblical story of the snake enticing Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge, sparking what Christians call original sin.
Illinois Family Action, an organization that says it supports "pro-family issues and candidates" in the state, condemned the statue.
"Satanic Temple monument was added to the #Illinois Capitol rotunda displays. They fail to realize that the little baby in the manger has CRUSHED Satan's head and the gates of hell will NOT prevail," the group said in a tweet.
The Illinois secretary of state's office said the holiday displays are open to all groups and they're not paid for with taxpayer dollars. It's about freedom of speech.

If it's accelerated to uncontrollable levels: the Bilderberg Group will have to deal with a situation like filling a pot with too much water before boiling it and having it spill on their hands. Satanism is just silly. In the pagan tradition (i.e., polytheism) there is no “Devil.” The concept of a supernatural being who personifies all that is not-good is a creation of monotheism. In the Jewish, and later Christian and Islamic traditions, Satan was invented to explain the inexplicable paradox of the existence of evil in a universe supposedly dominated by a single “all-good” deity. It furnishes neither an adequate theodetic explanation, nor one that corresponds to any recognizable reality.
The archetype of the Satan myth is the Hebrew entity Sheitan. In southern Palestine there was a bituminous lake of burning pitch called Sheol. This is oil that naturally came to the earth’s surface and was kindled by a lightning strike. To superstitious primitives the sulphurous stink and the flames seemed the entrance to a mythical underworld, and in due time they created Sheitan, which means “keeper of Sheol.”
Funny that in Christian mythology the hero is the sadistic son of a bitch who ancient primitives imagined personally created this world of pain and loss and death, old I-Am-Who-Am with His narcissistic personality disorder and unresolved anger issues. In spite of being immortal and omnipotent, the poor old duck is so insecure that He demands absolute adoration and obedience from His pitiful and very poorly designed mortal creations. And He’s so bemused that one day He decided to make Himself into His own son so He could kill Himself to please Himself. And His church has ever since made sure to praise the goodness of blind faith and condemn the sinfulness of reason, while keeping people docile and obedient to tyrants with false promises of the valuable gifts and prizes they will receive after they are dead.
The Devil’s greatest trick is not to convince people that he doesn’t exist, but rather to make them believe that he is the benevolent creator god who loves them, and that the one who brought enlightenment, in the form of the awareness of good and evil, to our first parents in the garden of Eden, is humanity’s adversary, rather than himself.

Honestly i fail to see the problem here, they have a solid argument. If you have christian symbols in public buildings why not of other "religions"? And fuck off about muh judeo christian principles, this isn't about that, it's about what the law says, as far as that is concerned the US is a secular state without official religion.
You should, yes. If some LARPing Asatru temple or whatever they have wants a display in this public building they have the same legal right to do so as any other religion. If a law prevents this, it's a law concerning establishment of religion, which the first amendment explicitly prohibits. Either you let everybody have a display on public property or you let nobody have one.

the problem with satanists is their "religion" and wishes to put up statues along side other religions (ok let's be serious, they only care about christianity) is that they don't do it because they love and believe in their faith, they just like to antagonize christians. Probably Abrahamic religions, mainly cause they've been around longer, still, havent looked at any numbers for this so its a guess.
I do think satanism is silly, however, IIRC its more of a joke religion in most cases, and the people don't believe in a satan, but LARP it to piss off christians. I do think there are some versions of satanism that are religious, but pretty sure the ones that have done the statue stuff aren't technically religious.
They care about christianity because think most of them are in the US where christianity is the one putting up signs. Also, 'believing in faith', is that meta-belief in a bad excuse for belief?
The bibles cannon is so unclear you can make it say whatever the fuck you want. If you cant, maybe you could be inspired by god to make a reboot like mohamed or joseph smith and just ignore the contradictions with the old story. The bible didn't have really good editors and wasn't written together, so its like trying to assemble a bunch of fanfics with crossovers from other franchises together into a cohesive cannon without contradictions, you can't do it.
