What can I read to develop a Christian view on and what are your thoughts on the modern state of Israel? Not concerned with them being the chosen people or not, just what they do and how it should be viewed from a Christian perspective.

The main thing you would want to be informed about are:
1. The way they treat their Christian population
2. The way they use evangelical zionists in the US to subvert American policies, and their ties to Christian groups and preachers in the US (and perhaps elsewhere) in general (e.g. Hagee)
3. Their plans to possibly rebuild the Temple
4. Their support and financing of radical Islamists in Syria (who then persecute Middle Eastern Christians)
5. The way they treat Christian refugees from Africa
6. The way they treat Christian missionaries from abroad
I guess those are some of the main things that would be relevant to you as a Christian. I'm not someone who is particularly informed about the details of those things, myself, just saying that's what you would want to look into if you are interested in further research.
