It's a legitiment question, wanna know if I can become a Christian (an honest one who follows God's teachings to the best of my ability and still enjoy my alone time). There's no point worshiping God as his faithful if I'm just picking and choosing which parts I follow. I'm already not marrying under my states current laws, so abandoning my hand for a wife ain't happening unless something shifts my cost-benefit-analysis.

I'd love kids, but only with a wife in a patriarchal nucular family where she and I both know our places. Don't know many women there are nowadays who'd accept this, especially if I wanted one with few to no previous sexual partners so we'd imprint on each other post-marriage.

To be fair, the distinction lies in that the Christian may talk to Jesus for prayer, spiritual guidance, etc. - to put it crudely, they may talk to Jesus because they recognise His divinity or supernaturality. Having a waifu, as I understand it, is more like having an imaginary friend - one might 'talk' to it, one might even ask it for advice, but unless the waifuist literally believes that their waifu has divine or supernatural power then I personally don't see where the idolatrous element lies. If waifuism leads one to sexual immorality, then it's a bad habit - but idolatry? I'm not sure. In any case it's a cruel temptation, especially for a lonely person. Contact with one's perfectly ideal romantic partner, even on the level of imagined interaction, is a powerful thing. Perhaps it even falls under 'inordinate affection' (Colossians 3:5). Lord have mercy on me, a sinner.

Don't skirt/rule-lawyer around this issue. Watching/liking anime as a hobby in itself is not a sin, but getting to obsessive over it and fapping to hentai certainly is.
By the way. Notice that some regulars of this board is not exactly welcoming of anime. Reasons being that most anime comes in two flavor: 1) Obnoxious fan-service rubbish made by otaku who does/can not look at another human being in the eye, for others otaku who does the same for maximum profit. 2) Made for the purpose of turning people into otaku so they can buy into number one (aka. gateway drug). Good animes are there now and then but among the sea of cookie cutter media spewed year to year, they are rare.
Anime by itself is not evil, but evil by its nature is a corrupting force, turning good into bad, creation and birth into destruction and death; and evil certainly got its tight grip on media overall, not just anime. Still way better than western media though. Especially slice-of-life and romance genres passionately made, the Japanese truly loves wholesome life and wholesome living despite high suicide rate and declining birth rate and their AV industry that most people see from the outside.
