This is a tech update on Brighteon.com, the YouTube alternative video platform that dares to respect free speech. If you’ve been following Brighteon news, you may already know that the video platform was threatened with being de-platformed by upstream infrastructure providers in the aftermath of the New Zealand mass shooting (which was, of course, engineered to set off a global religious war against Christians as we’ve now seen with the Sri Lanka bombings, but that’s another story altogether).

Because of the extreme censorship threats against Brighteon, we were forced to delete videos that showed footage from the Christchurch shootings. Otherwise, the entire video platform was going to be annihilated and we would have lost the ability to host any videos at all. Even now, some ISPs in Australia and New Zealand have completely banned all videos from Brighteon.

Even as that was happening, we were already well into the R&D effort to rebuild our platform to make it more resistant to censorship threats. I’m happy to report that we are now approaching the completion of that effort, and the rolling out of Brighteon 2.0 is scheduled to take place in early June.

This new infrastructure is already functioning in all the ways necessary for hosting a video site:

Video uploading and transcoding into multiple bitrate renditions
Video storage that’s affordable (our new solution saves us 90% compared to our previous costs)
Video playback across multiple devices and browsers

All of this is now working internally, and it’s going to be rolled out soon as part of Brighteon 2.0.

Once this new infrastructure is rolled out, we will be able to lift restrictions on content which is currently not allowed. For example, the Christchurch shooting video footage — which is historically important for researchers to view because of all the anomalies contained in the footage — will once again be able to be posted.

We will also be lifting the current ban on video game footage, which we had previously disallowed due to the very high storage costs that were causing us to lose a considerable amount of money each month. Now, with a 90% reduction in storage costs, we will once again be able to host videos which otherwise would not have been financially feasible.

Here’s the biggest news in all this: We will be announcing Twitter-like functionality on Brighteon.com later this year, transforming the video platform into a social media platform with video capabilities.

This new feature set will allow all account owners to not only post videos, but also to post short text messages containing hyperlinks.

Users who follow specific channels will see all text messages and new videos from those channels on their own Brighteon home pages. In other words, when a user logs in, they will see their personalized “wall” of new content, populated from the channels they are following. That content will consist of new videos, and new text messages.

Importantly, there will be no shadowbanning, EVER.

Sign up now at Brighteon.com to reserve your channel name (it’s free to join). You can begin posting videos immediately, or you can just reserve your account and sit on it until we launch our social media features later this year:

I can only hope this will be some kind of p2p network where users have full control over the content they share.

Yet another youtube killer. Fool, please.

If this is not a new internet then it is not resistant to censorship. Google can squash it like a bug if it wants to and so can every government, internet hub and ISP in the world.

My first thought was "I don't want a Youtube for conservatives - I want Youtube without censorship." My second thought was "Brighteon is an ugly name." So my fear is that this will turn into a right-wing ghetto, like Gab, and never grow big enough to threaten Youtube.

But I have to give them credit for their work so far: the site is well designed and loads quickly. They're also addressing the issues that get in the way of their goal and coming up with ways to overcome them, which is something Bitchute has failed to do, for example. They also seem to not be content with making a Youtube clone, which is good.

I see they have their own store - interesting, I don't think any other videostreaming site had tried this monetisation strategy yet. Overall, I'd say this is currently one of the most promising 'alt-tech' projects.

Bitchute is another Israeli owned site, question is, are anyone other than Jews behind brighteon?

If its true p2p Google can't do a damn thing but remove the site from their search engine.

Also, how can ISPs ban true p2p? Isn't that strictly node-to-node, NO central server? How does an ISP block a p2p network when tens or hundreds of thousands of users are sharing content directly with one another from their own harddrives? Explain that please!

Hmmmm, I've seen stuff they wouldn't like on there before, exposing Zionism and Israeli war crimes. I don't know much about Jews behind it, but I've used it before and never got one ban or video blocked.

2 weeks later
"yeah guys, some things like antisemitism should not be acceptable on ANY platform, im taking this video down and banning everyone who tries to upload it"

Explain to me why the NZ government can't block other p2p platforms like Soulseek, where if you look for the recent shooting footage you can find it almost instantly….

Explain how ISPs can block users who already have p2p clients installed on their computers from sharing on those platforms. p2p isn't web based at all.

I guess the best we can do is to test it out, and see what happens. If they start blocking Zig Forums content then we know for sure its controlled opposition.

"There are a few commonsense exceptions to the free speech nature of the platform, of course, such as the fact that Brighteon is not appropriate for pornographic material, or illegal material, or snuff videos, etc."

The etc. is the part to look out for, we'll have to fill in those blanks later after we test it out.

user you differentiate between Google and Government as if they're two different things.

Just watched a brighteon vid and Adams was going on about Jewish prisoners being shot by 'nazis' and how that's allowed to be shown. Looks like brighteon is another establishment platform. Meh.

Good point but that doesn't really answer the question. For example how can governments shut down true p2p networks when they're not even centralized? Everything here for example is stored on a centralized server. But on p2p its many harddrives interconnecting together so users can share each others' files.

I have a feeling this platform might not be p2p, what they claim to be "censorship resistant" I really don't know honestly. But if its not p2p then censorship can and likely will happen.

Not sure but they managed to do just that when they did the Web 2.0 didn't they? I mean for all intents and purposes that's what they did. They did away with computers requesting information from each other and changed to to computers requesting information from ONE centralized system, so they can control what you see and what you don't see.
What you're talking about was how it was when the internet was first launched, and it was glorious. But someone else already made the point that unless we make a new internet - which I don't see how they'd ever allow that either - we're not going to have true freedom of speech or anonymity.

I'm the guy who posted this earlier:

After spending some more time on their website, I've found a couple of things that I think are worth discussing:

1. They require your full name to register (or rather, to request an invitation). This seems a bit odd for a platform whose typical user would probably be concerned about his privacy.

2. They have several 'tiers' for users, and to each tier corresponds a maximum number of videos you can upload. A new user can only upload 10 videos max. To move to the next tier, you need a certain number of views (500 to move from tier 1 to tier 2). The problem with this is that there are so few people on the site at the moment, it's hard to make that many views. I was browsing through their "editor's picks" section, and I took a look at a nice channel with a SHTF-theme. It's a month old and they have uploaded 10 videos, but they have less than 200 views in total. Because of Brighteon's rules, they'll have to wait at least another month before they can upload anything else. This rule makes it really hard to grow a community around a channel, and severely discriminates against small channels.

See #1, Killcen? This is why you're a retard.

google is not the internet, kid. I understand you're probably under 30 and don't understand what the internet actually is, so get educated, tehn you can come here and make an intelligent post.

I never register a damn thing, maybe under a fake name and disposable email? Like always.

Are you not able to find the Christchurch shooting video on the web anywhere?

Why does it need to be on YouTube in order for us to have free speech? Is it unacceptable for a site administrator to have content standards?

You can’t find hustler in a Christian bookstore but if you go a couple blocks to a bodega they probably have it there.

Did you not make the thread?

Youtube is increasingly a platform for children, and frankly there should be a version of youtube for Real people - not just npcs.

How about FOR EVERYONE?????

I rip all my favorite video youtube videos, create numerous fake aliases and disposable email addresses for "registration" and mirror the ripped videos to all the alternatives.

That would be ideal but remember, that would ONLY work on a truly decentralized p2p streaming network. If it is centralized, it can and will be controlled by someone. And all users will have to trust the centralized source too. Thats why I say p2p needs to be further developed and explored because there is no one controlling decentralized networks when it relies solely on the users hosting their own media to share with others.

It's catch 22

The more popular a site becomes, the more the copyright take downs occur

Youtube in 2005 had some good stuff

Not a lot of pop tarts shaking booty then

I tried Tribler Dribbler

Not enuff users to make it worth while

They own the infrastructure such as the fiber and cell towers. Rule 0 is if you have physical access to hardware it is considered hacked/unsecured at that point. Your CPU whether Intel or AMD (or god forbid some chink_x64) has been shown to have built-in exploits. The hardware that (usually) handles encryption (and pretty much sees/handles everything else for the most part too). You bought your router/switch from someone and it likely isn't open source. Even if do put another firmware on it like DD-WRT that doesn't mean there isn't another piece of hardware on it unaffected still running malicious code. Didn't even wrap your own cables. Malicious code is small and you could potentially put it anywhere even on the tip of on ethernet cable just get it to interact with the firmware of the closed source NIC then it can tell the CPU it's in on it too. The majority of people still run Windows which is closed source and of course they're working with whoever. Not like many have the mind the audit millions of lines of code and find something malicious in it though. Then you likely have a smartphone (tracker) giving them wireless access to you. Your GPS state, your camera, your texts, your calls: who handles all that data and pinky promises your data is safe and they/you believe it? Good luck starting your meshnet (or whatever harebrained scheme) with THEIR hardware makes total sense.

Why the fuck would you trust any of these companies/groups/peoples to do the right thing even if they could? It has been shown and proven that it's all out there now. The hardware and software is ALL compromised. They were listening this whole time and continue to. There is no going back on this. It's fucked.

All these morons that try to make YouTube alternatives just don’t get it.

All they have to do is make a site with a cool name and the exact same page/channel layout/structure YouTube had before it’s google+ and related new Jew ownership pozzing but these fuckers always try to be edgy and different which results in a shitty confusing and difficult to use website and on top of that self defeating buffoonery most of these alternatives are headed up by conservative Christfags and you all know what that means.

It means any claim they make about no censorship is a lie as you will be shitcanned the very moment you make a video about their imaginary friend Rabbi Yeshua not actually existing much less being any sort of deity figure white Europeans should even concern ourselves with.

Mike Adams is a pretty funny guy, but pffft cmon like a boomer fag like him is going to spearhead the real solution.

It needs to be based on actual decentralized p2p tech in which it is literally impossible to remove a vid without shutting down every single node in existence.

Peer to Peer Internet Service.
Yup. Want it.
Got any?
Nope.
ISP shut down my internet service. No P2P either now. Why? I thought I knew how P2P worked! Guess I forgot about my connection to the internet, eh?
You don't realize how controlled everything really is. You think you can escape the ISPs? Think again.

How are you here, phoneposter?

In a surveillance state, you encrypt a 30 gigapixel image of your dick behind a password protected .zip file titled “Whitehouse destruction plan”, and then post it on facebook and leave your webcam up when I play with my cock.

Someone read the thread on stenography.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs

Gabai was a rabbis helper, Brighteon may be some kind of masonic reference.

check the digits, bitch! also, I saw that mistake but left it in there because I thought it would be funny if somebody starts pointing out spelling mistakes. also, check my digits bitch!

triple-double = undeniable

ISPs don't shut down p2p users, and if they did you can obviously use a VPN like most of us do. And I KEEP and BACKUP what I have offline, so if they ever cut me off, fuck 'em. I'll switch a service or just not pay their stupid fucking bills anymore.

The ISPs have threatened to shut down people who use Bit Torrent. You know what people started doing? They started spoofing their IP addresses, using things like Tor and/or a private VPN service. ISPs now don't know what the hell those users are doing anymore, maybe the government does perhaps, but not the ISPs.

I agree, but Mike just wants them to be able to create their shitty videos, he doesn't really want to prohibit them. Their traffic just took up too much bandwidth and money to run, wasn't sustainable and he had to block those videos for a while. Gamers were pissed, but whatever, they were on the way to killing the finances of that site.

Its already on Bit Torrent and p2p being shared, its out there for those that really want it, or need to investigate that false flag (?) for themselves.

Why do I even try?
What do you consider "web based"?
Do you have no problems sharing materials online with other people, using P2P clients without actually being "online"? Can you do it without an "internet connection"?
Then
STFU ABOUT P2P!
Your ISP is in absolute control. Unless you run wires to your friends' houses or plant fucking 5G towers in your front lawns
you won't be sharing a god damn thing via P2P without da interwebz, nigger!
Sage, because Fuck You, that's why.

Just saying the ISPs typically don't cut users connections off, and if they do threaten it just use a VPN for Gods sake. THAT SIMPLE.

Bumping for REAL NEWS, asshole.

Fuck the ISPs, VPNs and Tor will encrypt your traffic, all they can see is you connected to an encrypted proxy and the ISP doesn't know anything else.

NOT SCARED. I pirate shit all the time, and never once get bugged about it. They can eat my shit.

Seriously, give thought to how "centralized" using a VPN actually is.
I'm writing an article right now on the necessary balance between centralization and decentralization that society should be striving to achieve. Of course I won't be wasting my time posting it here on this dumb-ass site right now, for reasons. Why you still waste your time here is beyond me. Must be an addiction you can't seem to break. Insidious. Like alcohol addiction. Sickening. For everyone. Society included.
Sage because you need to look honestly at your attachment to these threads and, as Jesus, it is my job to gently guide you to the Truth, then bash your head in with it if you refuse to get the picture. I have always chosen to be an asshole, as that is my crazy wisdom, the technique that just "works". No need to crucify me again for it! But you can't help yourself, can you? Crucifying Jesus over and over is just what Christians do.
Protip: Jesus was not a Christian. Know Why?

It actually is, you are correct about that. Thats why I use several of them. Yes, I use one for this connection. And a couple others for other activities and other computers, to isolate each activity so all my activity can't easily all be traced back to ONE person.

Don't get hard feelings from my rants. I tend to be "edgy" at times, notice that yet?

Wow! Will I get an inb4?
Sage because sage shouldn't bother him. It's just not a bump. But he'll still only be able to see a downgoat. I feel like the nigger scapegoat, but I've always been willing to make the sacrifice – for him.

No inb4 for Jesus :(

Don't mean to shill p2p so much, but I really believe that the web should be more decentralized and anything someone is doing to counter censorship excites me. I hate those major media services like Facebook and Twitter and Snatchat and all that other crap, they are centralized garbage. So is this site, but at least it allows creeps such as myself.

wellllllllll…..
Have a little bump for Jesus!
And tell Him all about your troubles,
He'll hear our famous cry
And He will answer by and by!
Feel a little bump wheel a-turning
You know, a little bump is a-burning
Let's have a little bump with Jesus
Gonna make it right!!!

Alternative to the internet.
Go outside.

I do, from time to time. I did that yesterday in fact, wasn't even on here so you anons had all day to shitpost while I did yard work all day and planted more veggies in the garden.

I hope you find a way to watch Brighteon videos without running 3rd Party Scripts, my man! Without uMatrix I would have had no idea how they had set up their site. I'll keep an eye on 'em.

Honestly sites like that I just use an updated Tor browser to view those, and then flush the sqlite cache/logs with manually-configured Bleachbit after use. I don't actually view sites that have too many scripts on my regular browser. As far as uploading videos I'll give you another hint: NEVER use your real name or real email account, always have an alias like "Fred Sanford" and a disposable email account (such as cock.li) to register an account. Therefore even if your account gets hacked, they have no real name or email connected to you, and with a private VPN they'd have a damn hard time tracing it back to the user once they did hack the account. And also use very long passwords with a random code at the end (or beginning) of your pass phrase, something like "yomammaissouglyshecantturnherselfon1165876" …. its much harder to brute force the passwords that way too.

Bleachbit is truly a chainsaw. Vaccuum? Forget about it!
Easier to set things up to not collect shit to negin with than to clean shit without subtly fucking up your browser.
On an unrelated note, setting up BleachBit to do it's thing on Brave Browser on Linux can be fun! You may learn how to program Bleachbit to do precisely what you want. It's open-source, and not hard. There are guides. Still, I rarely use it anymore. I just don't leave crumbs.

Its good as long as you manually set those sqlite files to be deleted, and do double check those sqlite files are wiped out. Don't worry, as long as you know which of them to target it won't mess up your browser, because they come back as empty files once you re-open the browser. And you just keep on wiping them out after every single browser session. And whenever you open it up, they'll come back null. Its like purging all history over and over and over again. Your browser settings will stay the same. Yah, its bad ass and I'm sure Big Tech ain't very thrilled with users like myself, especially when I have Noscript manually configured to block ALL global scripts.

The goyotron isn't working anymore!
They're getting loose, starting to think by and for themselves!
Quick look at the new media alternatives goyim you need to look at the news!

They are going shut his video hosting site down.

So i check the website its fill with conspiracy theories and vaccine cause autism god good idea turn bad pretty fast

Pro Tip: Learn to speak english before posting to an english speaking website you pajeet fuckface.

legit true news

Looking forward to this.

I am too, but I'm hoping its connected to some kind of Bit Torrent protocol or has some kind of p2p integrated with it to share videos. ONLY then will it truly be censorship resistant.

inb4 the ISP will cut off your connection goyim!

Nah, use Tor and/or a private VPN and the ISP won't know what your actually doing.

Simple little trick, and it works. When you purchase a private VPN service and enable it, all the ISP can see is that YOU are connecting to the VPN IP…. Similar to Tor, all the ISP will know is that YOU connected to a Tor node, and everything else is then encrypted and obfuscated. So all the ISP knows is that you are connecting to encrypted proxies, they don't know what you actually accessed or shared while using those proxies.

The biggest threat is NOT the ISP at the moment….. the biggest threat would be you becoming a target of NSA-style surveillance, which they utilize enough resources to decrypt your communications and track everything you do over time. Even a lot of people that are being tracked like that don't end up in jail, most of the time its over some suspicion of terror-linked activities they are passively monitoring.

I am Ironclad status. So if you were to contact me personally you might end up on a similar list yourself. And I know they know that activities traced to /killcen/ were actually many different anons at that period of time when active, it wasn't just one person. I was just the news archiver, I already made the IC aware of that, encase they still care about a kook like myself.
