New Single out (cheap as fuck)
>Scottish 3 piece indie band
>Used to post on Zig Forums like 8 years ago under Flying Batteries
>Focused on atmosphere and textures, everything recorded live and nothing sequenced
>Influenced by The Cure, Joy Divison, Editors, Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, etc
>Sorely missing gigging like you wouldn't believe brother
Album coming out soon©
Piano stuff I really like, but put your voice at the forefront son, it's good
New mix is miles better and I've only listened to track 1, original mix sounded like you forgot to EQ/compress
NEW SONG in new collaborative project with my friend Arbol from Colombia
>hypnagogic pop, twee, neo-psychedelia
>twee, bedroom pop

>inspired by artists such as John Prine and the poetry of Rabbie Burns
Great stuff, well worth a listen.
Went to buy your album the other day for a sweet sweet car listen but then I learned that my bank blocks Bandcamp if I buy more than 5 things from it in a single day. The fuck, right?
Anyways it's going on in the car tomorrow, keep that shit up.
Had your EP on the other day, really nice folk stuff bud, the acoustic guitar sounds so clean and your voice is just folksy enough without becoming a parody of the genre, good shit
Cheers man, most glad you enjoyed it

New mix is getting there but your stuff still sounds woefully undermixed. What's your mastering chain? Somethings off about it, sounds like the compressor is hitting the kick and bass separately so they sound out of time, weird as fuck. Multiband compressor settings off or something?
Mentioned it before and I think you replied but can't remember so I'll say it again, that master is briiiight and the bass (although tight and punchu) is lacking thump. Change that up and it will be so much better.
I really like your stuff (Waifu album), it's clearly mixed and produced, but it gets a little busy in places. Do you use ducking on your compression chain? It gets a little hard to listen to when instuments start fighting for attention.
Not much to comment on when it comes to the mixing, it's very clean, clear, and pretty ideal for the genre. Touch more of the reverb mix might give it a little special sparkle, but otherwise you do you man this is cool.

i actually do very little post-production mixing and mastering. i record onto tape using a 4-track and just digitally bounce it at a mix that sounds good sometimes doing slight eq-ing and leveling on a computer. i dont actually even know what ducking means. got any suggestions or resources i should look into to make my stuff clearer?
aww thanks :) . yea thats weird one time my card got flagged when i was buying stuff on bc too. idk why must be something about bandcamp sales that look suspicious to card companies
Ducking (or side chaining) means that when it's time for one instrument to shine, for example a specific synth in the chorus, the volume of anything will be compressed slightly to accommodate the new instruments line. An aggressive version of it is used in dance music to make the bass drum cut through the low end, I'd recommend it for music like yours man, especially if you're not EQing much. Whichever DAW you use (I use either Protools or Reaper) there will be tutorials on YouTube.
fuck it i give up there is no godamn way to make anything better than this.
>the volume of anything
*Anything linked to it
It's late in my country and explaining side chaining is confusing :|

Great sound design, great vocals, I agree with the other user, voice should be on the front but keeping them somewhat behind is obviously a valid choice too.

Did this album 7 years ago as a practice in mixing/electronic music production, it took me 3 days from writing to mastering. I'd like to return to the style at some point.

How much you making off Bandcamp? We're all anonymous here so be honest.
Nothing
I made the princely sum of £10 off this over the last day or two I’m just flattered anyone thought it was good enough to pay for desu, the amount doesn’t matter.
I'm £35 on the single/discography offer so far, although I'm confident the album will do better.
Yeah I need to change that line in the thing, it's been there since I started posting. Aiming for late January if we can get our promotion stuff sorted out. Have a unique idea for releasing it that plays in to Bandcamp's strengths.
That's sweet man, I'm sure plenty more is coming. I bought it the other day, it's great.

Started it in July and made 81 dollars so far. I expected zero so that is very cool.
£5 every few weeks. It's a really pleasant surprise when I get that PayPal notification, makes me happy for the rest of the day
