>steal your riff
Didn’t happen. They stole lyrics
Wrong, they stole the music from Jake Holmes' song Dazed and Confused
Their best album doesn't have any stolen music though
Every fucking music act that does 4/4 rock/pop has stole off another artist at some point.
holy cope
all this led zepp and dad rock hate is pretty funny
i mean its always been kinda funny but people have been slamming it hard lately
You sure about that?

So this is how zepheads are coping now
I like Dear Mr. Fantasy better too.
I don’t know what they were thinking with their first album. Maybe they were nervous doing something totally original.
I get why some people would have problem with that but I personally couldn’t care less
If they were stealing they did it brilliantly and the final product was superior to the original also a lot of the stuff they did was undoubtedly original
Even if they stole everything at the end of the day Robert Plant is still one of the greatest singers of all time, John Bonham one of the greatest drummers of all time and Jimmy Page one of the greatest guitarists of all time
I care more about stuff sounding good than it being innovative or original
I wish they stole the lyrics to Sweet Home Alabama
Don't worry Trump donated $500 billion to the Black community as reparation.
I don’t particularly care as long as it’s different enough like:
which could be a coincidence... if they hadn’t lifted other shit and make you question.
Their most memorable rifts and lyrics are still ones that seem to be entirely original, which the vast majority of it is.
>Their most memorable rifts and lyrics are still ones that seem to be entirely original
not Dazed ad Confused, or Whole Lotta Love, or Stairway to Heaven, or Since I've Been Loving You
>Even if they stole everything at the end of the day Robert Plant is still one of the greatest singers of all time, John Bonham one of the greatest drummers of all time and Jimmy Page one of the greatest guitarists of all time
No love for JPJ? He's arguably the most talented of the four, as an instrumentalist anyway
Don't think it's a coincidence. The structure and cadence of the verses seem to be lifted beat for beat. The only difference is the chorus melody.
Jimmathon Page is most definitely a rip-off artist in addition to being a sexual deviant. For shame!
You white boys are so funny
>Stairway to Heaven
Not stolen
People who have a big problem with this stuff never understood the appeal of the band, I think. It’s all very trivial things. The Stairway to Heaven complaint is emblematic of this.
Daze and Confused, Page got from James Holmes, that’s for sure. But it’s a totally different song too. There’s much more going on in the Zeppelin version.
Whole Lotta Love is just some of the lyrics. The guitar riff is original, which is what’s memorable about it.
Since I’ve Been Loving You is another one with “quoted” lyrics. I don’t think that’s particularly memorable for its lyrics either though.
To really understand what I’m getting at here, look at Stairway. Stairway to Heaven is trivially similar to that Spirit song, Taurus. Stairway is definitely significantly different enough even if that one riff came from Taurus. Taurus is like 2 minutes long and is a little folk ditty. It’s nothing like Stairway. The riff isn’t as good either.
It’s like really trivial shit, and they built up totally different music around these bare-bone ideas.
Should they have done it? No. But it’s not what makes the music anyway. It’s like one simple idea among many other original ideas.
They seemed to have stopped doing this after the early albums too.
The only significant similarity for me is some of the rhythm, I guess, and the “love” lyric sounds similar. But it’s difficult to say exactly what musical similarities they share.
But it’s still like one trivial thing, and the songs are totally different.
Because every artist has blatantly made the exact same song with the exact same title as someone else's without even giving credit
But they never did THAT though, that’s why people fight about this.
When you hear all their music in its context, it feels like nothing, especially if you’ve listened to their entire discography.
They do more complex things musically than the shit they lifted from. Not that that’s an excuse, but it shows that they had original ideas and used them to expand on the bits they “sampled.”
Some people who aren’t fans or even don’t listen to it, think the idea that was lifted is central to the song... and it never is. None of the ideas are even that important.
The Stairway riff might be just because it’s so memorable, but their riff is better than the Spirit one. It’s different enough (and used differently too).
>Daze and Confused, Page got from James Holmes, that’s for sure. But it’s a totally different song too. There’s much more going on in the Zeppelin version.
Yeah but Page never even gave him a credit until 2010, when he was forced to because of a lawsuit. Not only that, but when some journalist in the 90's asked Page about it, he straight up lied and said he didn't know anything about Jake Holmes
Based Page. Holmes BTFO.
Considering Holmes now has the credit and a bunch of money and royalties to boot, i'd say it's the other way around
>Whole Lotta Love is just some of the lyrics.
Which Willie Dixon sued them for and won
Based Zeppelin. Made money, did drugs, fucked sluts, and dorks are still seething to this day.
>steals your song and pockets all the royalties for 40 years
stay mad Jake
