You're not becoming a metalhead, you're born as a metalhead.

what else am i supposed to build my personality around then

Start with Babymetal for an easier transition.

if you cant listen to necrophagist then get out

Don't, metalfags are just as insufferable as Kpoopers, if not worse.

Do all late zoomers go through a kpop phase now?

listen to glam metal like iron maiden first, you'll enjoy it then when you get into more metal you will realise glam metal is shit, also stairway to heaven by led zeppelin is a gateway song

i hate to say it but yea thats true for kpop zoomers
yes
also true but metalheads are more level-headed

I really like babymetal!! I havent heard ur last two recs ill watch them now

Have some more

Can't force it user, has to come naturally. I started my metal phase with slipknot in 2017 (i know, a bit late). Anyway I heard them from a meme, so I started going even heavier, later finding bands in death metal, still there, just also branching out to stuff like grindcore.

>mfw I went from nu metal to grindcore

Why metal? Why not emo, free jazz, whatever?

becoming glambro seems to be the most coherent thing for you

The stronger the contrast the better? I think ive always wanted to get into it but im not familiar with the genre yet
I think 2017 is when i got into kpop..

Get into it, but don't become le metalhead.

Listen to some djent & slamming brutal deathcore, both are very rhythmically focused like a lot of popular music - just in different ways. It'll give you a good taste of what sonic texture in heavier genres are like - from those two move on to subgenres that are actually good.

That's a nice stack to go through user. Some great live performances.

Their live-versions are always much better than the studio-versions. Check out Live at Wembley/Tokyo Dome, Legend S and Legend Metal Galaxy for full shows.

So we know kpop is the absolute rock bottom, treachery-tier level of hell. Then it goes kpop -> metal. What's next on the 12-step program? Is there a chart for this?

Some people might roll their eyes, but without a doubt the best metal band for newcomers is Gojira. The biggest hurdle for most people is the distorted vocals, they mix melody and pitched 'screams' well plus they're groovy as hell. Start recent and move further backwards to hear heavier stuff.

Leprous are also fun.

Honestly, the one thing I'd recommend anyone getting into metal is not to listen to metal-elitists. Not saying they are always wrong but most of them are perpetually miserable, insufferable hipsters.

Metal heads also not very humble about their community, they're always talking about how welcoming and open they are, but the amount of gatekeeping is ridiculous.

The notion that can gatekeep any community nowadays, when you have the internet, is hilarious. Metalfags like to puff themselves up and pride themselves on their gatekeeping and how they keep posers out, yet every major metal-site is full of limpwristed Redditdorks who talk about how problematic a band's album-cover is. Metalfags who don't spent all day having virtual slapfights about which one of the Big 4 sucks the most are generally really nice and welcoming people, it's just that the online community that's kinda insufferable.

First you find and listen to something you kinda like but also still think is too heavy like Slipknot or some shit. Then you listen to a couple songs of the heaviest shit (like Infant Annihilor) you can find so you apprreciate Slipknot or whatever you listened to before way more.

Thats it. Eventually you will understand the different aspects of metal like the kino guitar riffs and get more into it.

Good one to start. Distortion is fucking based

just stop listening to kpop basically every genre is better, doesn't need to be metal. Even hip hop is better.

that's true start with the heaviest so then everything will be better

>Basing your entire personality on the fact that you listen to music

This is a Woman Moment if I've ever seen one

Step 1: listen to metal
