a bit too fast for me
Watched the netflix documentary back in september and went on a rush binge for the better part of the fall. Every time I'd go for a long jog I'd play an album or 2. I had always been a big fan of the more mainstream stuff, but really enjoyed going through everything a few times. I didn't find any new personal favorites at the end of it all. I appreciate their synth phase stuff a little bit more now but nothing will top the stretch between hemispheres through signals for me.
i alternate between finding some of their songs absolutely incredible, and finding them irritating and wondering why i've got them in my audio library at all
I'm having trouble remembering what any particular Rush album sounds like. While I'm listening to any of their albums I'm like "holy shit dude this sounds sick" but after that the distinct sound of the album becomes rather vague in my memory.
They lost me after Permanent Waves, but everything prior is GOAT
Everyone likes to pretend they were some sort of obscure underdog prog rock band but they are actually super famous and used to fill stadiums. They might be overrated but they do have a couple of very good albums. Clockwork Angels is better than most of their 70's stuff.
Obviously, best anglosphere Prog band for me.

Clockwork Angels is shit compared to their ‘70s stuff, don’t kid yourself.
they're alright
>veryone likes to pretend they were some sort of obscure underdog prog rock band
who? i always see them lumped in with classic rock radio dadrock bands
You mean Roll The Bo Nes. That's how it's written on the album cover
The band's documentary plays like that.
jack, relax
For a three piece these guys were fucking insane
I like Rush a lot but I wouldn't say I'm their biggest fan. However;
No rock band has ever had a higher level of musicianship through the group.
2112-Signals (2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals) is an S-Tier run of 6 albums that maybe 4-5 other groups can match.
It's also pretty crazy / heartwarming that two guys can become best friends in junior high school and form a band, become great players, play the music they want to play, get rich, have the respect of their peers and still stay best friends after 50+ years.
probably the most talented band ever, i quite enjoy most of their music, subdivisions being my favorite
They fell off after Power Windows, Counterparts was great, then it was shit again until Clockwork Angels (shit album title though)
is a much better band.
yes.
>Everyone likes to pretend they were some sort of obscure underdog prog rock band
literally no one does that
I don't like the cheesy castrated singer but I can overlook it on some songs. They're not as wanky as yes at least. Still not really my thing though. Their songs don't tend to resonate with me much emotionally.
