Half-assed theory: mainstream rock music acts as a gateway drug into classic rock. Now that rock music is no longer popular, zoomers have lost that link and are unlikely to explore the genre unless their parents introduce them to it (and even then they'll probably think it's lame)

Probably depends on how good specific bands have aged.
The late Beatles are still perfectly listenable and avantgarde enough to have aged only little, but for example KISS and Mötley Crue on the other hand sound like they were already a meme when Wayne's World came out 30 years ago.
Queen sucks tho. Bohemian Rhapsody is their only good song.
Queen has a very spotty discography. 2 ok/great songs top per album and the rest are shit, but since 99% of people only listen to the greatest hits album, they don't realize how bad the majority of Queen songs are.
