played my first show this year. what an awful time to start a band. Gigs are hard to come by
>broken and battered
Vinyl sales are at a 30 year high my friend
Gone
Yeah its hard. I currently have the best band I've ever been a part of and there's nowhere to fucking play. My drummer is scared shitless of the memeflu so we haven't been able to practice or record in forever.
>drummer
>retarded
Checks out.
>"live music"
he's just waiting for the string faggots to finish tuning
look how fat this tub of guts is. look at her vienna sausage fingers and toes and her cankles
based "like the joker"-esque killerpost
I'm kind of happy I don't have to worry about gigs or rehearsals. I'm spending more time than ever practicing at home and I'm getting better every day. There's so much wasted time at band practice unless you're with top quality people. Once we're all vaccinated, I'm going to be super prepared for shows.
I miss it. Go to a bar, get buzzed, pay $5 for three hours of live music (90% rock but still), get drunk, walk downtown and stare at the river until I sober up. All gone.
My concern is that a lot of bars will be gone when the lockdowns lift, as well as the bands. I'm in a midsized Rust Belt city and there's only a couple of bars that have live music and have the stage, layout, and acoustics to host live music. If they fold, what happens, where do the bands play?
covid is white genocide
One of the best local bookers here in Austin just announced they are shutting down today. Venues have said they are drowning right now but I haven’t heard of many closures yet somehow.
Whole thing is fucked though especially if LiveNation has a monopoly on booking
suddenly, i really really want to have sex
Here's how it will play out. Let's start with the good news first.
Japan--Their industry is hanging in there better than most, due to the fact that physical media is still a thing, and paid live streams have been doing fairly well over there. Live shows are happening here and there with social distancing measures. Larger houses like Budokan are set for shows early next year with distanced seating, but all in all, they will survive with some venue's closing for good and some musicians leaving for greener pastures.
Europe--Will vary widely from country to country, and from scene to scene. Some countries will be at Japan level or close to it, others will be dystopian nightmares. There may also be political spillover from one very large variable...what happens in the US.
USA--The chatter about a possible Civil War 2.0 is not entirely out of the question...in fact it's a very real possibility. In this scenario, live music will of course be eradicated. As will many people. This will have repercussions world wide, and all bets are off on if WW3 begins somewhere. If no civil war and Biden gets in office, there will still only be pants on head retarded "drive-in" shows and the like...so basically no live shows at all. If Trump manages to keep his office, I can envision some venues starting to have events slowly but surely, although there will be a huge numbers of clubs and theaters that have gone out of business. It's no environment to be making money playing music, and won't be for some time to come, and that's best case scenario.
is this a venue on 6th st?
