I'm still not sure whether this album is an avantgarde masterpiece or just an eloborate joke.

Both
Fun album but goes on for too long. Not Zappa's finest.
Definetely not an avangarde work in terms of the music itself. Frank mocks a little some aspects of pop culture with his titty-wiewie jokes, big deal. No wonder it became so successful, it sounds mainstream-hardrock compared to other Zappa albums, yet it is pretty good. It is actually the very first album by Zappa I've listened to.
>late zappa
>avant-garde
it's one of his most accessible albums?
>Sheik Yerbouti
>late Zappa
huh?
Zappa seemed like he was the most arrogant pompous cunt ever. Remember Tom Waits saying he was intimidated by him. Made me laugh when I heard that because this arrogant fuck made nothing that was anywhere near as good as Waits’ stuff
post-mothers is late zappa
early zappa purists should all fucking hang
his synclavier stuff is more avant-garde and forward-thinking than anything he did with the mothers, and that's the last material he wrote in his life
cranky and insecure about jazz fusion weird al aren't we
weird al is based ya seethin' simpola
this is an 18+ board
only boomers give a shit about weird al
Jazz From Hell is a damn commendable record. I hate the Grammys, but even those kikes recognized how fucking good that is
>the synths towards the end of the guitar solo in Yo Mama
it's both
Daily reminder that 80s Zappa is good.

cia is my favorite genre so i enjoy all of this man's works
What exactly is the least accessible. Most avant garde Zappa record then?
It's a good album but I wouldn't really call it avant garde. It's basically a comedy rock album with good musicianship for the first 3/4ths, then right at the end it hits you with Wild Love/Yo Mama and you realise this guy who just spent the better part of an hour clowning is actually a compositional genius.
also the layered vocals sound real nice. It might be one of his best in terms of production.
Lumpy gravy
I love Zappa but couldn't care for his music
Jazz From Hell - abstract computer music
civilization phaze III - abstract computer music (but better produced) with lengthy nonsense dialog stretches
London Symphony Orchestra volumes 1 and 2 - his least accessible orchestral project, very moody compared to this other works and no wackiness at all
Weasels Ripped My Flesh - largely made up of directed improv by his first band, very abrasive but has a couple of tuneful songs towards the end
Special mention goes out to ThingFish as well for being one of his least listenable. But it's mostly made up of previously released tracks overdubbed with a cartoonish mammy voice, and the rest of it is annoying dialog from a play he was trying to get made, so it's not really unlistenable in an avant garde sense, just that it's a mess.

I’d say The Perfect Stranger outdoes all of those listed in abstraction and complexity
guess I forgot about that one but yeah that's up there too. Also the Yellow Shark has a lot of weird stuff on it but it's balanced with orchestral versions of some of his 'hits' so it's more of an entry point into his modernist work
both.
Everyone just HIDES the shillls trying to promote this spook right?
I mean you clearly don't
