What kind of people listen to ambient music ? Do such people even exist ? I don't get the appeal
Do you listen to ambient ? Is it a side activity (while driving, studying) or do you fully focus on it ? Maybe it's a meditative kinda thing ?
Genuinely trying to understand
Ambient """music"""
Never heard the OP album, there’s two ambient albums I come back to occasionally that I like but one of them has lyrics and elements from more traditional songwriting
Both I just use to relax myself when needed by focusing on it and slowing my breathing, I don’t know if there’s any explicit meditative benefits to come out of ambient
i listen mostly to eno (and related dudes) but yeah just because i feel nothing but inner pain all the time and it helps me to dive into some escape while laying on bed in night
Ambient music has no bassline and progression.
hosianna mantra isn't ambient
I love ambient. I can't really explain why I like it or how it developed. I listen to it both as a side activity and actively. Ambient is a broad spectrum, too. You've never listened to SAW II or any Boards of Canada? There is liberation in ambient, drifting without any concrete structure or vocal performance. In fact some of the most moving pieces of music for me are simple ambient pieces that me on a level the typical stuff like Joy Division or Have A Nice Life can't reach.

I listen to a lot of music in the evening and at night so I gravitate towards it. I still listen to other genres but I couldn't fathom listening to harsh genres like Metal outside of Black Sabbath anymore.
ambientbro give me some recs, that krill.minima sounds very nice
stupid post
Actually I've listened to some Boards of Canada, especially liked Everything You Do is a Balloon. Wouldn't have thought that could be associated with ambient though.
In fact I'm more into intense music genres like death metal, speedcore, techno, hardcore etc so I might have a lot to enjoy in ambient, I just thought it was more less the same as field recordings
and that's a good thing
it's entirely incorrect though

Popol Vuh is so fucking good bros, how did they do it ?
it's alright
My brain is retarded and demands complete silence when working/studying. Except for ambient, the only music that isn't intrusive enough to interrupt my thinking.
You're decent
it sounds nice
simple as
this is you though
this, and the faith keeps on draining

Bliss. If you don't feel the bliss you're obviously emotionally immature.
ambient is solely study music for me to block out the other noise.
I listen to ambient when I want to delve into my autistic thoughts, or just compliment the mood. I had a beautiful drive a couple days ago listening to Rhubarb during sunset.
I listen to Brian Eno while sitting in bed playing with my cat after a long day. It's good.
>pic unrelated
First three tracks on here is one of best ambient runs of the last five years
based
classical music too distracting. ambient music soft and soothing on my ears
Makes good background music to my audiobooks. Nothing I would actively listen to though
how about low-fi hip hop ? Pretty comfy too
Have you tried meditation? There's no inner pain, its just your brain thinking, creating stories.
Ambience is the biggest copout in music.
>play a couple notes
>drown it in reverb and delay
Cheap as fuck. I skip all ambient intros over a few seconds and don't listen to full ambient albums
I have used it as an insomnia aid for many years but at this point it's a natural and essential part of my life. Beats and melodies demand more of my attention (and as a musician, analytical mind) and are fatiguing to have always on. I enjoy the mental images, visuals, spiritual feelings, deep dark spaces.
Unlike most other man-made bullshit, ambient doesn't insist itself upon you with messages and ideas. It enables you to think freely at the same time and invites your mind to mend with the soundspace. It is also more connected to my direct experience of life to hear forlorn harmonies enveloped in reverb, like vanishing memories, than listening to some idiot singing about heartbreak.
I really love this image a lot
