Now that the dust has settled, were they based or cringe?
Based, it was the bands they signed that did all the fuckin.
they were completely aware. they built a culture of toxic cis men. who raped and groomed teen girls. the back room of their venue was literally nicknamed "the rape room" by the burger records staff.
Wait hold on a second... white man indie musicians in Los Angeles were having sex with... women? How was this not exposed earlier?! This is unacceptable!
>they were all aware
no, that literally never happened. Nice to see the cancerous cancel culture is still alive and well.
everyone knew they were raping teen girls. it was just socially accepted but we finally reached a cultural breaking point it was no longer accepted.
it was pretty much a running joke in the music scene that burger records and shit like that were full of toxic rapist dudebros. no one gave a shit until it got too much media attention
im critical of cancel culture. but this record label was seriously fucked up literally almost every band associated with them was full of rapists. they created a culture and scene that tolerated it. marketed to tween girls precisely so 30 year old band dudes could groom and rape them
Can you explain what you think rape is, I have a feeling based on these posts it's not what everyone else thinks it is
so what you're saying is....
the record label is fine it's just the bands they signed that were a little creepy. OK good to know.
you realize capitol records owns them right? Why aren't you boycotting them?
i dont listen to anything that is from any kind of mainstream record label dumbass. i hardly listen to any contemporary music
but its nice to see toxic rape bro clubs getting taken down
There was no rape user.
literally 1000s of people came out saying dudes from this label raped them
How many people were charged and sentenced? Their names and convictions will be in the public record.
how much of a bootlicker are you? fuck cops and the prison industrial complex. its incredibly hard to get a rape conviction cause the justice system is full of rapist who protect themselves and its difficult to prove
not to mention we dont believe in the fucking prison industrial complex and wouldnt go to cops or court for anything
how much of a retard are you yo see literally 1000s of girls come out saying they were raped by dudes in these badns as well as many people in bands admitting to it and still being like "well theres no legal convictions so it never happened"
You just contradicted yourself about 4 times in one sentence. So let's get this straight
>cops and the prison industrial complex are bad
>but nobody gets convicted for rape
So you want MORE policing and MORE people in prison if someone claims something happened on twitter?
>So you want MORE policing and MORE people in prison if someone claims something happened on twitter?
where are you getting that idea? i want no cops and no prisons. i want communities holding people accountable and thats what cancelling labels like this does. it calls upon communities to stop problems within themselves through reaching out and alerting eachother without involving armed pawns of the capitalist state and for profit prisons. it stops harm and abuse and leads to uplifting communities rather than a system based on carceral punishment
And what should these communities do to these thousands of Burger Records rapists if there were no cops or prisons? Form a mob and hang them?
all of this seems like the little indie scene wanted it's own metoo moment
stinks to high heaven of bullshit
especially since it came from the trendiest bits of california
soooooo none?
not who you're replying to but I live in orange county. Of two of the two dudes who ran it, one got away pretty clean and the other, lee rickard, was canceled like the artists for being a dirty coomer who gave underage girls drugs on the daily, aside from the more emphatic assaulters.
More than just burger artists were canceled btw, it's a problem in la as well. It's just that they by far had the lion's share of shadiness.
where do you get that impression? we want them removed from their positions of power they were using to abuse girls.
this is about harm prevention and stopping problems not punishment
COMMUNITY OF THIS THREAD THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION
This poster - Is calling for the abolition of police and prisons. You know what kind of people don't want police and prisons? RAPISTS. If this post gets 3 (you)s, the community finds this user guilty of rape.
I get what you're going for but it's 2020 user, their names and convictions are on the public record of the internet. Go ahead and be dense in the reply by acting like that information isn't easy as fuck to find on insta, twitter, etc because it's not the same "public record" gifted to you by the government.
disingenuous, he said there were thousands of victims not rapist-artists, read before posting user
yeah i agree. It should be easy to find. That's why i'm finding NO CONVICTIONS. Not even an arrest. If you find one link it but i doubt you will.
how deluded by the prison industriawl complex are you? do you really need the US government to tell you somebody did something bad?
most of it was statutory rape. the girls might have given consent but they were still minors. thats what happens when high school girls who hate their parents are the primary demographic.
1000s?
more credible than some fragile safe spacer on the internet with no source links to back up their claims that wasn't even there in the first place.
my gf "dated" a drummer from one of these bands for a bit when she was 16 and he was was 27 or something. this is abuse of a minor and he could be charged with statutory rape. my gf consented at the time to the relationship but looking back realizes that everything about it was really fucked up. the reason why she never called him out is because it's actually a lot of work and stress to go through something like that, especially for someone like her whose parents still think shes a virgin because theyre insane catholics who would disown her if any of it got out.
as a sidenote most of the dudes from these bands were emotionally stunted junkies who slept with high schoolers mainly because they weren't mature enough to go for people their age.
Ok let's make the formula. Every burger in store show had around 100-200 attendees. Let's say 4 bands played, minimum 3 members each (not counting the garden because they are genuinely good guys, if weird as fuck), once every weekend since say...2010. One rapist each band. How many victims were created over the course of ten years?
The point is... even if you don't believe any of this you have to concede it's no coincidence how burger and their artists painted themselves into a corner that they would eventually have to account for. I piss on kim fowley's grave anyway, only good thing he ever did was that rogues song that rips off hey joe.
idk. im exagerating but there were several hundreds probably. idk if you were one twitter or insta at the time following it. but there were definitely 100s of allegations
>no source links to back up their claims t
several people had screenshots and texts etc to back things up. many were coroborated with others who were there etc. idk how much of rapist misogynist dirtbag you must be to see literally 100s of people come out about how rapey these dudes were and still not believe it. even people in bands and stuff were saying it was true about their bandmates too and many of the abusers literally admitted to shit. if you dont believe shit happened cause there were no legal convictions you are a serious misogynist bootlicker who is likely a rapist themself
yea this plus it can be triggering to bring up past trauma and then you also have to take into account how people like the chuds on this site will say it never happened or that they deserved it or wanted it
do you realize how much time it would take to rape several hundred people user? How would they write records? They'd clearly be way too busy raping HUNDREDS of people.
That's assuming they raped at every show. If someone told you they had sex with 100 people you'd at least be skeptical right? But you're completely willing to believe that HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS of people were full on raped with no legal repercussions?
>do you realize how much time it would take to rape several hundred people user?
what? im talking about a label with 100 bands with 4+ members each. among them there were many rapists
im not saying one person raped hundreds of people
you realize the owners of the label had no accusations right? Also, no arrests.
vulture.com
billboard.com
theres way more but you can literally just google burger records allegations and browse
bruh most of the cases were by 16 year olds that got drunk with the band and fangirled to suck their cock and didn't fully process what these gross 20 somethings were doing.
they weren't necessarily forced but just because a 6 year old lets a 30 year old fuck their ass that doesn't make it not rape.
that's what rape is. even if the child "consents"
we have laws for this
>allegations
There are allegations in this thread that you are a rapist, should we believe them?
