Azu at some point eats a baby and powers up. They travel through time ala chrono trigger. Toss an idea and i might put it in. I had a whole character drawn up already. The idea was that he was going to be Tad's childhood hero, and Tad was going to try and pull him out of retirement. The issue was that it had nothing to do with the central gimmick of the story, ie. combination. I felt that the manipod had to be core to the story, otherwise the premise would be lost. There was actually many more parodies planned where Tad would just fill in as a pilot of other characters non-combining mechas. Some examples >Tad fills in on a Darling and the Franx parody. He straps handle bars on his ass and fills in for the girl with a very uncomfortable dude. One of the gags was tad shoving a cup holder in his ass crack for the dudes drink. >Big O parody, where the mecha looked like Notorious B.I.G. and one of the gags was the mecha telling tad "Cast in the name of god... you aight" >Evangelion parody, where Tads job was just to convince the Shinji knockoff to get in the robot, before discovering that the Gendo knockoff turned his mom into the mecha as part of a sexual kink and thoroughly freaking everyone out.
All these, and the Kamen Rider parody, had to be stripped out to streamline the story and make combination the core theme of the story.

Some art of Bubonic from years ago, he was originally apart of a different cape project. I just plucked him out of the pile of artwork I had and propped him into the Cosmo Lass setting.
Me and some writer friends of mine write superhero stuff in our downtime from other projects. We made a character named Cosmo Lass for the setting, kinda based her off an earlier Carol Danvers. Mostly in the aspect that she has immense powers but no one seems to give a damn about whatever she does. She's mostly in the superheroics for clout and fame but has a rough time getting it.
In all honesty I wrote short scripts for her to get myself out of writing flunks in the past few months. People actually enjoyed them so I got a new team together (artist, inker, colorist and letterer) and started adapting the stuff I wrote.
It's pic related and the best source on classical magic I've ever read. It's got a lot of primary source documentation. I promise you that you won't regret looking at it.

The idea I'm going with is that the mecha is distinctly Gao Gai Gar, while the pilot has the debonair batman flair of Big O. She is the one who has a mecha made out of like 10 parts and pilots it solo. She constantly coughs up blood due to the effects of the engines.
I had some great gags for the Eva parody. Including RMILFs, and masturbation jokes, etc. However it just wasn't sound with the narrative. A lot of the parodies just kinda stuck out like a sore thumb, and they were too short. I had always intended to do parodies, some, like Warhammer, transformers, Gao H Gai Gar, and Voltron took a life of their own and became full narratives. The others, never got past a few jokes. The Gurren Lagaan parody is teetering on that now. Its very short and would be filler, I could cut it wothout fear. Only reason I hesitate is because the Mecha design I have is badass and the jokes are funny. The combination aspect also makes it relevant to the story. I think part of the distinct humor I want to go for is this tight enmeshed world where everything is important and called back numerous times, until the whole thing becomes this meta joke that constantly flows into itself. So if a concept doesnt mesh into that, it gets cut.

The rider idea could still work even with the whole combination mecha theme going on. Some of the super hero taisen movies feature rider tech combining with the sentai mechs. Like the Gobuster mech used some of Kamen rider Fourze's switch weapons to power up in the movie. But yeah it would have to fit within the story somehow for it to work I guess.

That's the nagging part of my brain that said "don't do it". Aside from the "fear" part of me saying "you'll cause an unnecessary shit storm", there's another part that says "are you sure this is a good idea even if they weren't coming after you?" The nagging part that told me that I didn't like that shit when SJWs do that to everyone. I guess part of me was so annoyed by them that I wanted to annoy them back.
Although in my case, I'm trying to break it down to the basics of why they are hated, rather than just go "these are SJWs, fuck them". That way, it's not about their beliefs, but their behavior. I chose "superheroes" because most of these types think their heroes in their own little worlds.

The presence of superhumans led to Russia staying with the Axis and prevented the Spanish Civil War. The ungovernable individualism represented by wild talents drove the Axis closer together. One thing smacky has made me realize is when drawing what you love and making chracters and story, Dont be ashamed of your inspirations. Know what you love, and why you love it. And you can tap into that same energy. When i was 14 i created an animated cartoon called zan and eddie. I was young and i loved Saturday morning cartoons and the robots in megaman, a big inspiration was cowboy bebop but i didn't want to admit it. Anime was all over the place and i started to hate it cuz im a kid and dumb. Last year i re-watched cowboy bebop and fell in love with it all over again..the spaceships, music, style..storytelling. this is what teenage me wanted my series to be. I spent more energy trying to make it "my own thing" then just admitting my inspirations. I love the scrooge mcduck comics, I love Batman and the comics (and i miss adam west ), so i created Nightmoose. I loved the 1986 transformers movie, and i wanted to tap into that same energy. I love time skips, i love the late 70's. So i made Admiral pizza issue 3. I love metal gear soild. And i am deeply concerned about plastic in our oceans. I like giant turtles, frogs, and squids. So i made Admiral pizza issue 4. Venture brothers was always a huge inspiration, the same guys working on that worked on the tick. That show inspired me in my youth. I love star wars. And have been fascinated with the Civil war. My next story will be the Admirals origin story mixed with starwars but in the american civil war. Know what you love!! Write it down! Same, some pages take longer then others. It used to take me 8 hours to do a page, but i stopped handwriting all the text bubbles and made my own font, cuts down on time alot. I can on average do a page in 6 hours. For my next story i might experiment with techniques and new stylings to save time.
