Dumb ESL

While a fun exercise, even within Barks alone there's several other panels that contradict this.

Barks didn't really care about strict continuity much, seeing the characters as classic fantasy ones. I love well done continuity, but I gotta say I also adore Barks' looser approach that still regales us with literal hundreds of kino stories.

LOT3C Daisy and DT Daisy failed at the exact same thing, she's a motivation for Donald and the story doesn't have the time to focus on her as a character independently.
No matter how well intentioned DT is, they introduced Daisy way too late. She just secured a happy end for Donald in the inevitable season finale epilogue.

Daisy's arc is going through their usual breakup and fighting herself over how much she loves him. Daisy comes running when her nieces vouch for him, she spends her date with Dapper thinking of Donald and ends the night alone, her feelings are hurt when Donald fools her in their second date, and apologizes for her actions in the spa. Not Shakespeare, but her goal was Donald and a lot of her actions were motivated by a desire for him.

What's hard about comparing the two is how different they are in relationship. In LOT3C they are in it for a long time and the action takes place during a sudden block in the road during that. DT they just met as the plot point so of course she is in love with him a bit, and we don't know how Daisy will act to him when they are established and Donald acts like he usually does. So really they are used in two different circumstances that are hard to compare because they very well could act similar to the other version if in their shoes
Also I find it hilarious the Reddit ducktales fans are suddenly interested in keeping Donald safe when previously they thought him going mad on a island for a month then Dewey telling him he ruined his life via keeping him safe was "amazing writing"

This is my main issue with the Quack Pack episode. Despite the message Goofy says about letting kids be and all that, Donald's coming from a valid spot. Dewey almost died on his trip with mom in the doomsday vault, Louie nearly killed everyone in Timephoon, Huey's developed into a psychotic mess who almost fell into lava. Why should Donald be ok with that and at most be a passive entity or constantly run damage control?

The Gizmoduck connection makes sense, but Gyro's the one who's carrying the plot going by the description. Though I can sort of see the logic considering Huey is like Gyro in that he's smart, but flies off the handle very easily.
I'm more concerned what the rest of the family will be doing while Huey's in Donald's old paratrooper dropzone.

That episode alone for what they did to Donald, built up the season to a non-threat and ruined something as simple as Donald and Della's reunion which should have been the peak of the series as it was emotionally building up to that over several years

Hah, such an out of nowhere appearance too. It's jarring too. Just a sole nephew who immediately disappears for the rest of the story; you'd think the kids would know better than leaving their accident prone Unca in charge of fixing the TV. Don could have recalled the TV was busted on his own and it'd have rolled exactly the same.

That said, I'm intrigued if there were any Kinney Fethry stores where the nephews play a meaningful role. There's a charm to Don and Fethry just playing off each other, a different dynamic than you usually get from Donald stories, and precisely because of that different ambiance I wonder what the nephews would add to the table.

If all Very Few Exceptions are like this though it's clear Kinney didn't much want them in this series

For all the virtues their interpretation of Donald might have, showcasing how proactive he usually is in pretty much every other media is something they often fail at.

Had a hearty chuckle with this. Damnit. I do think DT's worth keeping afloat, but by all accounts so is Cabs, damnit. Hopefully both shows get new seasons.

Pretty solid? Outside of Glomgold saying he's got a shark guy it's a waste of time and don't get me started on the main plot.

It's funny though. Angones talked about the stuff they initially planned for that episode and pretty much everything interesting got excised, leaving the episode a mess. But THEN they used that discarded material on Louie's Eleven and that episode hit a homerun.

Infernal Internship died so Louie's Eleven could live is what I'm saying.

As much as I liked their interactions in the episode, yeah, this. The staff claimed they wanted her to feel like her own character but with everyone fighting for screentime and this being potentially the very last season, they're not gonna have time to properly explore her with anyone who isn't Donald.

Fethry user here. I just checked Inducks and there are a few Kinney stories with both Fethry and HDL. There's a lot of Uncle Scrooge stories in there though, so probably no classic Fethry shenanigans. Exceptions seem to be these two:

It's weird, because Kinney has written multiple stories with HDL. His stories with Scrooge and Belle Duck (might storytime a few of those stories some other time) always featured HDL in bigger roles, so it feels like a missed opportunity to not have some more Fethry + HDL stories by him. Their roles might have been too similar to Tabby I guess. The recent Danish stories did have some stories with Fethry and the triplets, but unfortunately nothing with Fethry, Donald and HDL all together

Maybe in the DT universe the USD is just a really weak currency.

This panel here basically sums up the entire Kinney Fethry series on its own. I love it.

I feel like the worst part of the Woodchuck episode was the B-Plot.
It was really uninteresting in its entirety, made the family look like assholes who couldn't give a shit about Huey, and it took away time they could have used to improve the A-Plot.
I do think the A-Plot was solid, just a bit undercooked.
