If nothing else, Knock's got a proper Frummagem business sense.

She should charge him in creamstick.

A proper marketing specialist. From what we've seen, I say he should take her up on it.

Captain Sava here is ASTOUNDINGLY unable to notice flirting, sadly.

goat farming doesn't equip a boy well for dealing with women

He's lamenting about his ex-wife keeping him from ever seeing his daughter again. That's pretty distracting.

He should take Knock up on her offer and have the bitch murdered.

He's probably passing most of it off as drunk rambling

>'cause you'' be Emil E-
>Emil Sava
>right, Emil Sava, that's totally what I was going to say

Attached: unsoun_no_mercy_traitors.png (172x146, 55.06K)

last panel looks like she be sucking some mean dick
also why do they get a nice tent together while the guards have to keep watch out in the pouring rain

Perhaps the guards have parasols.

Knock that is not how you cheer someone up.

in shartesane it is

She's not trying to cheer him up, she's trying to ply her services. The Frummagems basically have the same motto as Glengarry Glen Ross: "Always be closing."

Look at that face in the panel immediately before. She's definitely sad for him and trying to help. She just doesn't know how to help any other way.

these three are great together. I hope they stay a permanent arrangement.

If they actually fix her Ana can come too I guess

You're right, she's definitely popping those trousers open with her teeth

Are they great together? The Crescians are ignoring her dumb white ass

She's probably close enough to have just leaned, but the distance Elka closed between panels 5 and 6 looked great enough for me to briefly imagine her flopping over to him like a seal.

as they should. white people should know their place

they're about to die

funny how a commie matriarchy has the same divorce expectations as modern day huh

Nah. Toma's going to become a hero and get his daughter back and stick it to his bitch ex-wife and walk away in Elka's strong, masculine arms.

It probably reeks to high heaven in there, I'd rather be out in the rain.

Can I just say I appreciate a female author admitting that sometimes women can be bitches in a divorce, and setting up a man as the sympathetic character in one? And all this without piling on the wife, either?

It's just nice, is all I'm saying

I don't even see any commentary in this, Emil is a peasant who rose through the ranks as an acknowledged hero, got picked out by a powerful noblewoman to be her trophy husband, and now is getting dumped. It's not really any agenda to it.

Yeah, that's why I like it. There's no agenda but it's a scenario you don't see a lot in fiction and I appreciate it.

it's a matriarchy. this can't really be considered commenttary because it's unrelated to any real life context and is only coincidentally similar.

It’s really hard to concentrate on the exposition knowing half his ulna is just sitting there festering and scarring

Seems more egalitarian, at least as far as gender roles go.

>monarchs are exclusively women
>husbands take their wives' surnames
It's literally the definition of a matriarchy

>>husbands take their wives' surnames
only because Emil is a peasant

Cresce actually seems far more stratified than Alderode, they just don't discriminate based on gender. Alderode has a nominally representative government, it's just got very strict gender roles.

Proof?

Alderode is literally rocking a caste system. You can't get more stratified than that.

The caste system is imposed by the Khert, and they developed a system of government that's actually pretty fair considering the reality of the dammakhert. If you only live to be 30, for example, you probably won't make it far in politics. Alexander the Great not withstanding.

Of course all monarchs should be women. Men are too emotional to be put in charge. As for surnames, that's all but meaningless. Gotta use someone's last name.

Isn't the dammakhert of their own creation?

>L12

It's like poultry.

Yes it's artificial sorta? It's like if you made it so everyone born in America loved burgers and if you had a kid there they will automatically love burgers so in a way it's like the added a fundamental rule of natures it's like if you could add a new rule of physics but only for one area

Oh now I feel dumb, I thought Knock was offering to put Emil out of his misery.

Knock is a good girl with a bad upbringing.

Nope, it's the norm. In Crescian culture women keep their family names and men adopt the woman's name. Although if a nobleman wanted to marry a peasant woman who became a noble hero I assume in that case they might make exceptions. Sharteshanian and Aldish culture has the traditional male lineage we're used to as far as family names go.

Depending on HOW matriarchal Cresce is a male noble might not have much choice in who they marry and be expected to go off and accept an arranged political marriage for the good of the family.

so their caste system is so hardcore they'll alter your fucking biology to enforce it.

that's pretty fucked user. Alderode is some stratified authoritarian nightmare world. I wouldn't doubt it if that guy ranting about the higher castes eating their lessers was 100% right

They're good friends having a moment over some personal tragedy. There also happens to be a complete stranger in the room as this happens. I'm sure once things get less dire, Knock will have a welcome place as the team mascot, probably after an act of heroism that makes Elka and Sava say "You alright white girl." Can you even imagine Knock and Elka not getting along? Besides being a cop and a murderglar. Maybe this is how Knock goes straight?

that Emil had the option to refuse a noblewoman suggests men have some degree of choice

>they'll alter your fucking biology to enforce it.
More like your own genes will do the altering no need to post hoc penis cutting off so to speak

Well yeah. The peasantry get to choose who they marry

Excellent bait

>peasants
>ever saying no to nobility

I mean, not really. There's a reason no one responded.

He married into nobility. It wouldn't make sense for the noble to take the commoner's name unless it was like serious love that led to the union.

>user doesn't understand sarcasm

Doesn't read like sarcasm. The post it responded to read like sarcasm.

... that's what I'm saying, user. "Excellent bait" was the sarcastic bit.

>Isn't the dammakhert of their own creation
We don't know, and given some still fairly obscure implications given by people in the know, it feels very much like it was either some kind of weird punishment or something even more insidious in intent and purpose than is obvious. We're going to Alderode once the pain nuke monster is dealt with, so it'll probably be the big narrative mystery in the next section of the story for awhile. Everything we've seen of Alderode so far is meant to only be a teaser to the shit show we'll be getting into eventually.

Of course not, because of the implication.

Attached: And then I was like, why don't you invite the zombie in too, bitch.jpg (158x174, 14.87K)

I suppose I forgot the most important bit, which is that apparently Alderode doesn't actually know where the dammakhert came from. There seems to be history predating it, but it's exact origins and nature seem unclear. This is all out of story information, though, so it's not exactly relevant to the story now. The most significant information we have is is that the whole "shorter lived castes, better pymary sensitivity, longer lived castes, less pymary sensitivity" is completely intentional for reasons as yet unilluminated. The dammakhert is probably meant to be some sort of crazy super soldier program type thing or something.

Considering the fact that Elka's high off her ass on pain killers, that's probably the prudent move.

I'm still half expecting a kussen farm not to be a place that's farmed by kussen, but a place that farms kussen to power the Dammakhert with their souls. That or them being a human equivalent of plods, but that's less of an existential horror.

lots of women will just demand a man to be good with kids.

100% my dude I have been thinking the same thing. With what (admittedly little) we know about them and with how dodgy Ashley is about them, I feel like there is a good chance the kussen are basically batteries for the Dammakhert

Crescians ITT resorting to crazy conspiracy theories out of sheer jealousy because Alderode:
>has the most experienced statesmen (copper)
>has the most based individuals (Jets)
>has the most average (bronze)
>has the original inventors of pymary, inheritors of ancient Tain (gold)
>has the hottest women (Silvers)
>has the best wights (plats)
And yet somehow this caste system is supposed to be a bad thing?

Attached: unsounded_dead_gods.jpg (400x387, 123.19K)

Given that it's patently obvious (to us) that Gefendur narrative is completely bogus, the whole "CASTES FROM THE GODS!" line is also similarly bogus. But then, it's been around for what, like 2,000 years? Literally as long as Alderode has. It might as well be a natural phenomenon at this point, given that the Alds as a whole have no idea how it works and no idea where it came from (for all intents and purposes).

In any event, it's obvious that while Alderode is a dystopian hellhole, it's not that un-understandable of one. There's pretty glaring fundamental differences in people (however unfair it is that it occurs, Coppers do just live longer than everyone else; Plats are essentially magic, to people who understand magic), and the system takes that into account. It's not really all that different from real life, they've just cranked everything up to 11. They're a republic, based on a democratic electoral system, with two religions that have hashed out a rough compromise along ethno-nationalist lines. They treat their lessers like shit, but democratic politics allow Affirmative Action, wherein the Coppers pit everyone else against each other.

Cresce is an actual weird place, that isn't just a Real Life analog but ZANIER and WHACKIER because MAGIC. They've managed to get rid of a lot of unpleasantness and pain via technology, but remember that Emil here had to marry hereditary nobility to get out of being assigned a goat farmer for life by the state, the same state which bulldozed a town for being slightly unprofitable without giving a shit about what the inhabitants thought. Say what you will about Alderode (it deserves it), but Duane, and many others, have advanced their station, even slightly, by simply being good enough to do so.

>had to marry hereditary nobility to get out of being assigned a goat farmer for life

No, he was already some sort of soldier, if not a peaceguard when he got famous for saving royalty from bandits with a broken leg. THEN he got snapped up by the thirsty bitch.

The dhammakert is artificially maintained, if the Crescians invaded successfully and demolished all the khert towers, there'd be no dhammakhert no more

You can't be in the military forever, or rather someone as low as him wouldnt he'd eventually have to go home to the goats had he not married up

That's like saying the Dutch are artificially maintained and if the Germans demolished all their dikes there'd be no dutch anymore

Im not sure if it was intentional or not but Ashley has set up Cresce and Alderode the same as a tale of two cities with Alderode as England and Cresce as France.

On the surface England was a crime ridden hellhole with a rigid class structure and draconian legal system while France was a pastoral garden ruled by an enlightened sun king. In reality France/Cresce was built on the back of serf/lizard slave labour, waiting for a revolution to sweep the old order away. England/Alderode however was actually capable of the compromises and change necessary to avoid that. Alderrode may be taking a while to get there but It's easy to forget that there is a 600 year gap between the Magna Carta and universal manhood suffrage.

I'm also interested if it was intentional to make the nation populated by blacks communists. It tends to get ignored by the history books but during the cold war blacks in the US and elsewhere were the only ethnic group not fundamentally hostile to communism. Largely due to being the only group that had nothing to lose under such a system.

wait, she isn't? that was my understanding as well

God I love Knock so fucking much.

Ana’s not getting fixed. Not in a comic wit this tone, anyways.

No she's getting fixed like a log so time for her vag to go where she tossed her tits

>the most we can hope for, is to get you buried in secrecy, so your grave don't get violated!

Attached: heavy_metal_buried_in_secrecy_rip.png (370x262, 98.31K)

I meant dog not log but im a retard I was trying to make a bitch joke

When's she going to tittyfuck his creamsicle?

That chibi art in the bottom left is actually really cute.

I love the black birds circling cutter's head

You mean Mr. Delicious.

One can hope.

>Quigley and Toma is tricky for me to imagine. Toma is soooo straight. Quigley has more wiggle room. Even Duane has a tiny bit of wiggle room
>Even Duane has a tiny bit of wiggle room

Jon probably would've liked to have known that.
