Why do people fucking see socialism as anything but a meme?
It has killed more people than facism, Hell I can think of Peronism as a time when facism worked, can't think of when Communism worked.

Both need to be lefted in the 20th century industrial e-bin

My best guess is that it's people who have completely failed at the game of Capitalism being pissed off and trying to change the game because they suck at it so hard.
I seriously don't get it, all I have is a high school diploma but I have a job at a hospital that I can stay at forever, even during the corona shitfest, and it pays me more then enough to rent out a place and have plenty to not only save up but even do degenerate shit like weed.
This isn't fucking hard, and I wouldn't even consider myself a full on proper adult. If a manchild can do it these people have absolutely no fucking reason why they can't either.

It is a cancerous outlet for wannabe tyrant college grads who majored in bullshit studies and are mad that they didn't get a job because they're too midwit to realize most bullshit degrees are supposed to be stepping stones for grad school or law school or med school and not meant to be serious bachelor's in their own right.

The most important thing to realize about socialism is that it was originally supposed to be "the 20% of the population that are factory workers will overthrow the 1% who are factory owners and become the new dominant class of society". It's not necessarily meant to be moral, more that the socialists viewed themselves as doing to the capitalists what the capitalists did to the mercantilists and the mercantilists did to the feudalists in a never-ending chain of society having a new economic elite overthrowing the old as conditions changed.

What happened, ultimately, was that the capitalists allowed "democratic socialism" to exist and effectively stop the revolution by giving into worker demands. Marx and other socialists of the year 1850 never thought this would happened- they thought it would end up like Marie Antoinette- "let them eat cake" and then the bastille and overthrow of the Ancien Regime by the workers who would become the ruling Dictatorship of the Proletarians.

They also assumed this would occur in industrially advanced nations, just as the liberal revolution had occurred in economically advanced nations like France. When it happened to be Russia and China- backward shitholes with little industry- that spearheaded the revolution, as workers instead chose to throw in their lot with fascists, this completely derailed socialist thought.

In addition capitalist critiques of socialist dictatorships lead to reworking of all socialism as egalitarian and including baristas as workers.

In the modern era it appeals to losers, not workers and is so far removed from Marx as to be unrecognizable. It's a zombie system.

- you think buying weed is expensive
- you think your highschool diploma and being born in the US isn't a leg up in the "game"

If you had to provide for children or if you were born in a less affluent country you'd see more clearly why a social safety net is necessary for a functional society. Even if you made $1000 a day every day of your life you still wouldn't be a billionaire, and there are people who make that much money and don't pay any taxes. The system rigged for the rich, and that causes instability and death. If we fix the system, not through communism or dictatorship but just fix the monetary system so that 65% of wealth doesn't go to existing capital but instead that the majority of wealth go to labor, the world will be a much more stable, safe, healthy place. This is empirically true, you can see that countries with huge wealth inequality are unstable and dangerous, while more equal countries are more stable and safe.

Sure but that doesn't mean you deflect from the problems in society.

We went from most people being able to possibly own a house and afford a family to houses and families being unaffordable to most and it's not like companies don't do things that encouraged this downwards trends.

Unchecked business have fucked the west, encouraged mass immigration, outsourcing of jobs and countless other things with the ability to lobby for what they want.
