You know what? Yeah. I have absolutely zero problems with this relationship being a thing other than the suddenness or it all. If they were going to do it, then I want to watch them fall in love. Instead, they just had it be a last minute thing
They stole the journey, and rushed the destination. And the worst part is that I could genuinely see how a love plot between the two of them could have been set up, but they were too cowardly to show it to us. There are so many episodes that could have been made to build this up, but we got none of them. I love for character development! You can’t just have love develop offscreen

There was some very deliberate teasing but said teasing always had an out. Its not until the very last episode that iron clad yes they are dating thing happened. Its not even clear if they were already dating when the kiss happened or if this is when tbey decided to start.

That is fair. I still prefer the trickster mentor/big sis-turned-rival dynamic and find it a lot more compelling than two jaded immortals who mess around and blow up every couple decades or so. Retconning PB's age and impact on the setting were probably some of worst things to happen to her character.

That was in part due to the showrunners didn't know they were getting a third season, so they pushed to wrap everything up and end on a high note. Everything surrounding the Lich was outlined in the series pitch.
