INFINITY WAR / ENDGAME Production Info from The Russos & Markus/McFeely

>IW originally opened with Thanos fucking up Xandar to get the Power Stone, which would set up Richard Rider becoming Nova, but they felt there were too many new characters and Nova wasn't as necessary as the others.

>They briefly considered revealing that Captain America was the Soul Stone in IW.

>The Guardians of the Galaxy would originally only have a brief cameo in IW.

>Scarlet Witch would originally survive in IW, but they felt her EG arc was just "spinning heels" and that it was more impactful to kill her.

>James Gunn was informed about Gamora's death early on and helped write the scene.

>That line about oceanic earthquakes from EG was indeed a Namor reference/setup.

>Original plan for the Time Heist was Tony going to Asgard with Thor to get the Reality Stone and the Space Stone. Tony would be wearing an invisible stealth suit, but Heimdall would be able to see him and they would fight, while fat Thor would fight fit Thor. They scrapped the whole sequence in favor of a more personal scene with Thor and his mom and gave Cap the "fighting your past self" scene.

>Back when Tony was Thor's Time Heist buddy, Rocket was paired with Wanda on a road trip from New York to Washington, D.C. to steal the Mind Stone from the Triskelion.

>Nebula and War Machine's mission originally involved fighting a sea monster in an underwater temple where the Power Stone was hidden.

>They originally planned to show Smart Hulk's Soul World vision, which was a conversation between Banner and Savage Hulk, but there was no time.

>Smart Hulk is not just Banner with Hulk's strength, it's a fusion of their two personalities, which is why he's a bit more cocky than normal Banner.

>Nebula originally used the Infinity Gauntlet and sacrificed herself to wound Thanos, but they axed it because they felt it undermined Tony using it later.

>They considered making Bucky the new Cap, but Falcon made more sense because Cap is all about idealism and Bucky isn't that kind of character.

Big if true.

This really was never going to be a good movie.

As a rule of thumb anything that has time travel but is not explicitly about time travel is most likely shit

Over all I think these are pretty good ending after the last 10 years. My biggest complaints are how they just wave away the butterfly effect of time travel and that Thor left Valkyrie as the new ruler of Asgard rather than just leave her in charge while he is away. The 2nd part the most because Thor's entire character arch has been learning to be a good king when he rules Asgard like his father, but just giving it up to someone else feels like a betrayal of all the character he has been building up for almost 10 years. Also has to do with the fact that I do not like Valkyrie.

>Actually showed the impact of The Snap, and at the end didn't even undo as much of it as the original Infinity Gauntlet story did.
>Phased out characters in a way comics with a sliding timescale have never done, forcing future writers to advance supporting characters arcs and to create new, dynamic stories.

It may have been a bloated, three hour masturbation session that plays like a "Best of the MCU" album, but it did its job satisfyingly enough. Honestly, I was more interested in where the MCU was going at the end of Endgame than I had been since the end of the first Avengers film. And that was a bloated, empty mess that did set up future promise too, so maybe I'm just being stupidly optimistic.

Thor never wanted to be king, though. He avoided it as much as he could until he was literally the only one left in the line of succession.

>>They originally planned to show Smart Hulk's Soul World vision, which was a conversation between Banner and Savage Hulk, but there was no time.
YES THERE FUCKING WAS
YES THERE FUCKING WAS TIME
FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK

UMMM.. so just admit you are a racist dipshit???

How does it advance the plot, though?

Exactly. It would've been nice, but it is an expendable scene.

>>They originally planned to show Smart Hulk's Soul World vision, which was a conversation between Banner and Savage Hulk, but there was no time.
>but there was no time.
bro I'm gonna be honest with you you're really pissing everybody off with talk like that

How did the asgards make it to earth? I thought they all got killed before the movie started.

It could lead to a more fitting send off to the character than what we got

Too many scenes involving the Soul world, it would bloat the movie and also waste more money and time on VFX

>Phased out characters in a way comics with a sliding timescale have never done, forcing future writers to advance supporting characters arcs and to create new, dynamic stories.
y..you really believe that don't you? how stupid will you feel when they revive iron man and de age cap for new movies with new actors to continue making money?

Not until they lose money and interest. So give sometime before 2030.

>>Nebula originally used the Infinity Gauntlet and sacrificed herself to wound Thanos,

Jesus, Thanos could tank a snap?
That would have been really dumb to have her do that, fail, and then Iron Man snapped him to work that time.

Valkyrie's a slaver who showed no remorse when dragging her kin to the fighting pits.

Anger
>That line about oceanic earthquakes from EG was indeed a Namor reference/setup.
What?

>Original plan for the Time Heist was Tony going to Asgard with Thor to get the Reality Stone and the Space Stone. Tony would be wearing an invisible stealth suit, but Heimdall would be able to see him and they would fight, while fat Thor would fight fit Thor. They scrapped the whole sequence in favor of a more personal scene with Thor and his mom and gave Cap the "fighting your past self" scene.
>we didn’t get that
Lame

She wouldn't manage to snap because the gauntlet's power would consume her first. She would just manage to blast Thanos like he blasted Thor in Wakanda.

>What?

During the Avengers' holo-conference in Endgame Black Widow brings up reports of strange oceanic earthquakes, and Okoye tells her it's probably nothing and she should stop trying to find new threats that don't exist just to keep the Avengers together.

Are you new here? newfags for fuck sake

It's bait. Valkyrie's the worst character in the MCU.

>Captain America was the Soul Stone in IW.

um...BASED???

I WANT EMILY BLUNT IN THE MCU

better to die a hero I guess

namor is going to show up in the eternals right

>>They briefly considered revealing that Captain America was the Soul Stone in IW.

How would that work?

really only mad about the nova bit
>cap is a stone
think fuck they didnt go through with this

>They considered making Bucky the new Cap, but Falcon made more sense because Cap is all about idealism and Bucky isn't that kind of character.
Or they knew that making Bucky Cap would've just made people on Twitter screech about racism had they not gone with the black friend instead.

What better sign that our universe is fundamentally fucked-up than that happy endings feel unrealistic?

>Soivengers
No one cares.

nova bit is actually kino in a future film

you can have a lot of time pass then show xandar getting sacked and it'll be a great oh shi- moment for the audience to introduce him
