Justice League Dark Apokalips War

So the movie follows Jon Constantine and Raven and a depowered superman, but for a large part of the movie what they're doing isn't really important because the plot is being told in flashbacks.

This movie sucked, but more than that it made me disgusted. I've never liked the Nu52 animated movies, I've always thought they were pretty terribly written and overly "edgy," but I didn't think I'd see a movie where a homicidal Superman would demand the Justice League mount a preemptive military strike on Apokolips, everyone would agree, and then multiple prolonged cuts of DC heroes and heroines being graphically eviscerated, eaten, and quartered. It's like the panel of Ultimate Blob eating Ultimate Wasp but 20 or so times.

After some really dumb shit with Trigon becoming good and agreeing to trap himself forever for no raisin, everyone (including robo scorpion zombie Mera and body horror Starfire) sits in front of the destroyed Titans Tower while Batman basically says the earth is fucked no matter what they do now. They all star into the middle distance and contemplate group suicide when Constantine finally convinces Flash to just smash the reset button and make all of this completely fucking pointless.

There's other shit to harp on: overuse of bad CG, some extremely questionable explosion effects in a very important scene, the fucking hilariously stupid look of the ParaDoom army, but really I'd kinda made up my mind at seeing Mera's head get ripped open and Batgirl get Resident Evil'd.

>Batgirl get Resident Evil'd.
>Superman mentions how close Batman came to snapping out of it after he learned about Dick's death, so much so that five minutes with Damien broke him free
>Dude watches Batgirl get torn apart on screen
>Doesn't even seem to notice.

Ice fucking cold.

Introducing the next Justice League film
Justice League: Suicide Pact

What happened to Dick? Why's he on a straitjacket?

He got murdered alongside the rest of the Teen Titans (you can clearly see an eviscerated Starfire with her entrails hanging out in the foreground! So cool and not at all fucking weird!) and Damian tried to revive him in the pits

Looking back at that kill I thought they'd kept it completely hidden aside from blood spatter but no - they animated her fucking severed arm flying away as they eat her.

Attached: BatgirlDisArmed.png (1920x1080, 1.27M)

Of fucking course Damian wins in the end.
Of fucking course.

He gets to kiss her once after fucking dying and then time resets. Also all the other Titans are super fucking dead.

Not exactly what I'd call a win.

Would you get off his case already

Wow, really? They really went this far?

my god. look what they did to best boy dick. I'm glad this shit universe has been wiped away

This is not even scratching the surface of the amount of shit that went down.

No

Batgirl's death is one of the tamer ones.
Here's Mera getting her fucking head ripped apart in closeup.

I've noticed that a lot of the people praising this shit are also zack snyder fanboys

I am not surprised in the least

I'm the biggest Snyder fan I know and those people do not represent us. Any idiot can see that this is edgy tripe. Snyder at his worst wouldn't have beloved characters being violently murdered for shock value.

I just realized that you can't see Batman's bright red bat symbol on his chest.

He's literally pouting at a wall in the corner holy shit.

man I hope so, because a lot of people were saying that this lines up with what he wanted to do with his justice league movies

What sites is it up on?
I'm too lazy to wait for it to download.

Jesus, all of this is kind of just... excessive? It feels tonally off from what I would have expected.

For instance, you have Injustice which finds itself established as a hard PG-13/soft R-version of the DCU, but even then it's fairly restrained in presentation. Characters certainly die, but nothing that felt gratuitous or out of fashion with the rest of the setting (i.e., Aquaman killing Grodd through a chest stab).

I don't recall the previous films being at this level of violence. It would be like having a 'Legend of Korra' direct-to-video sequel where the airbender recruits get violently and graphically impaled by earthbender stones.

Did any of these deaths have any impact? No heroic sacrifices or fatal mistakes, but just Ultimatum-tier gorefest? I refuse to fucking believe this.

babs is fucking ripped apart and that is the last we see or hear about her.

Things that were really funny but were definitely not supposed to be funny:
-All the robo zombie justice leaguers just kinda going "ok now let's find our friends!" when they're horrifying undead abominations that have been forced to do unspeakable evil for two years (I guess the writers forgot?)
-Harley Quinn somehow being in charge of all the surviving villains who are all together because ??? including Giganta and Bane and Black Manta
-This stock live-action explosion effect completely fucking ruining Lois' big sacrifice moment and making me burst out laughing

mega nz/file/WSI2xKTY#II31c2481cTrPuQxnRXnNGXa8kTjcgR7kpk3SLoi7Z4

The previous films got a little excessive at times but absolutely nothing like this. This is a snuff film.

The deaths are almost entirely filler. Lois' plays into the aggressively stupid climax but any emotion it has it ruined by the special effect seen here. This is what they put as the explosion on the other end of the screen where Lois is.

why have the quality of the dc animated movies just been fucking going down so much

>Why the fuck does Superman lead a suicide mission of murder?
>How is Superman able to live with Kryptonite in his blood and skin?
>The beginning was rushed way to much and the flashbacks just took a piss out of any impact.
>Does the movie accomplish anything with the ending?

Kinda bummed I was hoping the films were getting better but this was a huge step backwards in my opinion.

i wounder if starfire new robot body is fully functional

>any impact
No, because in the end we just got another flashpoint

>Make Young Justice adapt this universe's shitty animation style
>promptly end the universe
Kek, Weisman just can't stop losing

>Trigon becoming good and agreeing to trap himself forever
thats bullshit
trigon only wants to be free. there is literaly no reason for him to betray then again after he is indeed free'd

They were always bad, but this is a new low.
This is from the first movie they made for this DC animated universe

Attached: JLDoom.png (1191x759, 84.32K)

>I don't recall the previous films being at this level of violence.
Then you missed Flashpoint, or Suicide Squad:Hell To Pay, or Doomsday being comically brutally murderously violent in Death of Superman.

>It would be like having a 'Legend of Korra' direct-to-video sequel where the airbender recruits get violently and graphically impaled by earthbender stones.
Either this started off with Flashpoint, which showed Reverse Flash's gaping hole in his head after Batman shot him, or Justice League:War, which did not mind blowing out eyeballs.

Honestly this is more like if Predator suddenly became a Saw film. Yeah, there was always over the top violence, traps and people getting eviscerated or limbs blown off, but at some point they cranked it up too high.

>Flash just runs back in time again and makes the entire story pointless
>imagine if Hamlet just went back in time at the end of the play and said YOLO. THIS IS IT!

Why do they do this shit?

Darkseid saw fit to give her robot high heeled platform feet for some reason.

$$$

This is why you should keep Barry on mission control, if you managed to fuck up big time make him fuck the timelines to prevent it your bigger fuck up.

>>Why the fuck does Superman lead a suicide mission of murder?
cause they hadd 1 week before the planet explodes
>>How is Superman able to live with Kryptonite in his blood and skin?
they did a kryptonite tatoo, it didnt touch his skin
>>The beginning was rushed way to much and the flashbacks just took a piss out of any impact.
agreed
>Does the movie accomplish anything with the ending?
oficialy made raven best girl and had trigon pushing darkside shit inside
that was pretty fun

This is bizarre to me. New52 Batgirl didn't even get featured in a movie as far as I know. She was introduced in her Burnside costume at the end of some other movie. But that's all. And her next appearance is being killed?

darkside is a well cultured man that knows what is best in life

Attached: file.png (383x280, 94.23K)

Those movies were violent in short bursts, yes. Even gratuitously so. And as each movie came and went they got more and more graphically violent.

But this is still a complete new level of fucked up.
Look at Look at this.
It's fucking grotesque.

Attached: SomeNiceTamaranianHaggis.png (1920x1080, 1.79M)

>, it didnt touch his skin
i meant blood

Horey shit, I didn't notice it

man damien death was fucking brutal

Babs, no, but at least the Mera one is a part of the whole situation going to shit so it does have impact just because its a horrible version of how the heroic charge can go wrong with non-parody characters, its like a Rick and Morty sketch only its not the creator whining about superhero tropes, its just another creator who thinks this is impressive when its just kinda there since we know its gonna reboot.

>Wonder Woman just has her lasso and it instantly fixed her. Darkseid just LETS HER HAVE THE FUCKING LASSO.
>Cheetah gets mowed down and nobody even seems to notice, they're quipping while standing over her gored out body.
>They can one-shot Lady Shiva from across the room but nobody will shoot at Harley while she's directly charging them.
>The Paradooms are both so powerful they can rip Wonder Woman apart but also so weak that King Shark can rip them apart with his bare hands. They didn't even make him bite them with his kryptonite teeth for that one, he just popped the arm off and hit another one with it.
>Constantine has every single power except removing Kryptonite from a body
>Trigon goes from "I will kill everything" to "I'll save you all now!" in one fucking scene.
>Wonder Woman doesn't use the lasso on her friends, she just beats the shit out of them until Cyborg turns them off.
>She also doesn't give them the lasso to use on Bruce even though she knows that's where they're going

Shiva's death left a bad taste in my mouth

>they had a week before the planet explodes
No, he means the original mission at the start of the movie. The one where they turn the Justice League into an army because Superman is REALLY mad and he'll throw a tantrum if they don't.

well he did just come back from the death thanks to darkside

council of gordons, get in here. even worse, joker got an off screen death without being raped, a direct violation of the Gordon Multiverse code 49475

>Constaintine took shark dick in the arse

>Those movies were violent in short bursts, yes. Even gratuitously so. And as each movie came and went they got more and more graphically violent.
Exactly, like I said with the Predator movies. It would be like if they made a new movie called Predator(Because after Halloween its all they fucking do) but in this one the Predator paused to skullfuck his prey.

You would go in there knowing that there had been some graphic violence and knowing that they weren't afraid to show skinned heads or skulls, but then you see it and you just are not prepared for that level of shit.

I really hope that whatever happens after this reboot, everyone involved in the current administration of DC animated gets replaced completely. This film isn't a love song to an era of stories, it's a product of stagnation and unfulfilled ambition. Murder porn should never be a replacement for storytelling.

A lot of the death scenes made me feel dirty. It made me feel like someone somewhere in the production was getting off.

Yeah, just unceremoniously capped between the eyes.
At least she didn't get fucking torn apart or eaten.

it's these levels of violence that make me think
why? literally why? what's the point?
it's like it was just made by a kid that just discovered that they have the power to kill off characters

So in terms of gore, it's about on the same level as the MK Scorpion movie?

do I need to watch the wonder woman movie to get this one? it felt like skipped a lot in the beggining

The MK Scorpion movie gore is a tad excessive, but it's also cheesy and tongue-in-cheek.
This is so much worse.

I would honestly just love to get an idea of the thought process behind this film. I'm not upset or clutching any proverbial pearls, but rather just interested in how the producers settled on such a tone and was then given a go-ahead by WB.

Mind you I am well-aware WB has a famously clusterfuck-filled chain of command full of backstabbing and people failing upwards, but this film still makes me wonder.
