pretty tame characterization and a lot of lame jokes. Plus some episodes don't even have horror elements and are just about humans goofing off.
There are some horror elements on certain episodes that are on par with some of GF levels of creepiness, but since there's barely any story and most of the characters are forgettable it's not as impactful.

I've seen only a handful of threads about this cartoon over its entire existence. Most people say it's only interesting point is Charlene... and they are correct. Not merely because she's a witchy girl but she's actually funny. Unlike the rest of those show mostly. Though I will admit it has got a chuckle from me once or twice but it's hardly worth the return on investment.
I like some of the mythological creatures. The Mexican mythology is a bit more exotic to me than all the over done European shit— dragons, vampires, elves etc— which there’s just too much of now. I also like the setting for a similar reason. Potentially inbred Mexican bumpkins are more fresh than potentially inbred American bumpkins (Gravity Falls). But I find Victor to be too whiny and shrill, though. He can be a real chore to sit through.
