both are good
I think Doug Walker should be removed
Both are good if done right but hand drawn tends to look prettier.
Depends on subject and individual quality, retard.
Who gives a shit? If you enjoy watching either one then it doesn't matter.
>spongebob has tiny holes inside of his bigger holes
terrifying
I’m almost entirely a 2D purist, but if it has good aesthetics, I do not mind.
this. movies like Hotel Transylvania and Spider-Verse using 2D sensibilities and exaggeration in 3D are a great happy-medium.
Depends on how well rendered the CG. As 3D tech improves older CG can look weird and dated, which isn't something 2D has to worry about unless the art itself is bad.
The medium never matters when the concepts are SHIT. Especially annoying infantile garbage like Minions or Spongebob. And Disney also makes shit, they're the reason that western animation is infantile trash.
Don’t let Doug anywhere near SpongeBob, he wouldn’t get it!
>my mr. enter thread is removed but this is still up
Fuck the jannies
CGI is a little closer to heaven
Stylized CG has a lot of potential that I feel the industry has only scratched the surface of.
Chads appreciate both, however CGI movies typically look severely outdated every few years while 2D ages like wine.
But user... so do real sponges.
Both do things the other one cant, turning 2D to 3D is retarded though.
I'll give you the classic asshole reply: it depends.
A big issue I feel with CG is that too often it's used for realism, which kinda misses the point of animation as an artform, but it's more to do with how it's used than its potential.
It's a lot easier to get strong shapes out of a 2D drawing. While 3D models can easily be squashed and stretched, you have to make sure the CG model doesn't clip into the environment or other characters.
Nostalgia Critics video on it is alright, but he gives the impression that 2D animation is rare to see, even on TV. He never mentions that 2D animation is cheaper than 3D when it comes to TV.

Have people not learned, that fucker is DEAD, FOREVER.
So how was the actual video?
its subjective and depends 100% on the vision of the director and what the studio wants to do.
Pretty balanced, talking about the pros and cons of both.
Atleast post the link

WHERE DOES THE BLOCK COME FROM?
Seconded. There are good stylized characters here and there like The Incredibles, but I'm really burnt out on 3D movies as of late. Nothing tops the facial expressions of good 2D animation.
I'm one of the weirdos who just wants to see more stop-motion animation.
YOU AUTHORIZED PAYMENT ON THE DOUG WALKER POLICY?!
I prefer this video format over NC
How is it weird to want more of something that is sparse?
