This "We're totally going to make a successor to X" shit never works and never sticks. Stark HAD a successor, several, one of them even black. The same one had tons of experience and success in this exact field and no one would have thought twice about her taking Iron Man's mantle. No one would have complained. We couldn't have that, because Benis had to have his personal OC character.

This boggles my mind. Riri is such a narcissist that she wants to live a world where she is treated like less of a person just so she can come out on top and prove a point. The people who came before her overcame hardship and hatred out of necessity, and they fought to allow the next generations to be free to pursue their interests and goals without fear, judgement, or restriction. Yet, the message here is that Riri would rather be oppressed, perhaps even at the expense of other people’s freedoms, so she can feel like a hero. That’s a terrible example to set.
