While it is likely that Yaweh has his origins in the pre-jewish polytheistic religions of that region, the exact origin is not clear. What is likely however is that Yahweh was originally the god of war and what we now know as jewish monotheism, is the result of a Yahweh sect growing in power and rewriting the Torah to replace all other gods with him, the reasoning being that it would be easier to fend off their enemies if they focused worship exclusively on him. When Yahweh later became the Christian god, some elements of Jupiter were included to make him appeal more to the Romans.
