That honestly just kind of adds to the reasons why I dislike Future Steven so much, or really how Pink is portrayed in Future and the movie to an extent
Before he had a complicated viewpoint of her before finally recognizing that she was as flawed as anyone else, then Future just decides to paint her as an abusive monster and Steven just straight up despises her. As much as I love Spinel it makes me wish we had just ended at Change Your Mind and any loose plot threads being resolved via comics

I've always wanted this scenario where Steven enters his gem either via coma or near death or whatever (not physically like mentally), and in it he ends up encountering his previous forms, first beginning with Pink, then Rose, and then finally himself. Naturally he's being a complicated twat about it at first but over time as he journeys throughout his inner machinations, learning more about Pink/Rose, he ends up learning to genuinely accept himself and his heritage as both a human and a gem hybrid, and becoming more sound of mind again
I dunno I like the idea of forms never truly being gone and each one having a differing personality and history to them, sort of akin to what we saw with Pearl in A Single Pale Rose (not sure if that's how it works since I haven't seen that episode in a good while which is why I say akin)

It feels like such a slap in the face to have the ONE Diamond that actually tried to redeem herself have all out sudden all of these stories where they were such an abusive monster or whatever, and the other Diamonds, the ones who ensalved their people and decimated who-knows how many planets, get redeemed no questions asked.

The visual metaphor foreshadowed it after the Pink reveal. Amethyst ordering the pizza that’s overloaded with toppings since she deals with her feelings as they happen, Steven just packing up his slice and shoving it aside so he could focus on Ruby.
