Is this worth reading?
Is this worth reading?
the theories of Superman punching Manhattan to death were far more worth reading
>Dude what if we just explicitly say everything in DC revolves around Superman and just masturbate all over the page thinking about Superman and how just him existing makes everything all better
There, that's it
>story where multiversal being has a huge hard on for batman and chases him through out time
>story that tries to establish superman as the focal point in everything
When will it be her turn?
Wonderwoman is the holy spirit of this trinity cause she doesnt do shit
I liked it, especially the last 4 books I guess
No.
Haven't read it, but one question. Was it necessary to include WHOLE Watchmen characters into the story? Because as far I read about rants is about Dr Manhattan analyzing the DC multiverse.
No
The subverting no-supes-manhatten fight wasnt worth all the decompressed and aimless in it.
It felt more like the button in trying to introduce something for other books.
>capeshit
No
The Comedian wasnt. The Rorschach twist is understandable. Manhatten was a must for the plot.
But whole story wasnt. Trying to import Watchmen into DCU doesnt make sense. Or at least how they wanted it didnt worked.
I say check it out, wouldn’t hurt. Basically it’s a commentary on how cynical comic readers have gotten regarding canon and reboots, which is expressed through Dr Manhattan’s attitude toward creation, surmising nothing matters if the universe will keep getting reshaped. A few anons are salty because instead of Superman fighting Osterman, he gives him a new perspective/hope.
That reboot angle is interresting. Like that.
Sad this wasnt any intention.
And we are mostly salty about the fight, because this would be the only thing that justified the whole book.
And the ending should be much more than just "trolled you, superman is too good to just punch". I mean the impact and writing was more half-assed than really submitted.
Better than masturbating Batman
>Sad this wasnt any intention.
How can you say that? It’s pretty clear it was.
>A few anons are salty because instead of Superman fighting Osterman, he gives him a new perspective/hope.
Something that Manhattan already had gained at the end of the original book, BUT HEY LETS MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT SUPERMAN.
No. It isn't. People actually like Batman.
That was before he discovered universal resets, user. He values human life, but he questioned why worry about Armageddon if the wheel of creation keeps spinning. It’s still in character
>That was before he discovered universal resets
Something that this book pushed as an idea all so they could MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT SUPERMAN.
This book pretty much threw Watchmen under the bus to prop up Superman.
user I think you have an irrational hatred to Superman for some reason. Batman gets his dick sucked constantly, yet you somehow have a problem with the symbol of hope giving it to a cynic like John?
No, he tried to understand why the whole DC multiverse revolved around Superman. That was it. What you said doesn't happen. He was just treating Superman as a lab rat because he found odd how DC wanks Superman so hard. And the answer to that discovery is that Superman is just that GUD. So he tried to create his own Superman back in his home universe.
I've a problem with DC using Watchmen popularity to try and give readers to give a fuck to Superman. It reeks of desperation. Worse. Use Watchmen to explain why they fucked up so badly at their latest attempt at a shared universe.
People like batman because he use his GALAXY BRAIN with no power to overcome issues, but when he’s used as Gary Stu-ing then he became lame. Do we really needed 5 new batmans in Metal?
Well, Superman WAS used to throw the Watchmen characters under the bus. So you know...
Batman is more profitable to DC. You can't escape that reality. He's more well-liked, more popular, and more profitable. DC throwing other characters under the bus to make Superman look good won't change that,
Wrong. He took interest in Clark because he was a universal constant in the universe resets. He was the perfect test subject to see why someone would continue to try and save a universe when it will just start over. Your “wank” obsession is purely your own bias towards the character.
>Well, Superman WAS used to throw the Watchmen characters under the bus.
How?
Nigga, Doomsday Clock that Superman in the center of the meta-verse. Every changes to him end up fucking the multiverse. The multiverse hinges on him. If he becomes a woman, everyone becomes a woman. That's what Manhattan felt odd and was trying to investigate.
>Well, Superman WAS used to throw the Watchmen characters under the bus. So you know...
And that is fine.
Try reading Doomsday Clock and you'll see how.
If you're fine with the publisher throwing popular characters under the bus to prop a character nobody gives a fuck to then you must love Carol Danvers.
What I said is completely true though. The meta-verse stuff only applies because Superman arguably got the DC universe started back in the 40s.
I have, and thats not an argument. I’m not calling Doomsday Clock a masterpiece by any means but it sounds like you hate it on principle given that it involves Watchmen at all. Let me say this right now; while Watchmen is a nice deconstruction of the superhero genre, it’s not the intellectual sacred cow as you prop it up to be
>What I said is completely true though. The meta-verse stuff only applies because Superman arguably got the DC universe started back in the 40s.
The comic literally established that everything hinges on Superman. All the other DC characters are just props. Butterfly land on Superman shoulders and Green Lantern disappears from the reality.
>The comic literally established that everything hinges on Superman
Only because Osterman couldn’t see what would happen in their confrontation.
>All other DC characters are just props
Not true, and now you’re reaching
The comic could involve the Watchmen characters fine. The problem is that everyone can see that Watchmen was only used because it is popular and because DC needed the people to give a fuck to their failed rebooted universe that nobody liked and Superman who DC won't accept isn't as popular as he used to be. Watchmen is there to be sacrificed so DC can turn their comics universe popular again, and maybe Superman too.
>Not true, and now you’re reaching
The JSA disappeared because of Superman.
No the JSA disappeared because Dan Didio is a cunt
>I don't like Watchmen as much as everyone else does, but since my opinion is more credible than the millions who disagree with me, it is therefore ok to shit all over the characters to make Superman seem cool
Get over yourself. If DC bought the rights to 1984 or Catch 22 then sacrificed them to make people pay attention to Superman, people would be rightfully pissed. Same here, they took a genuinely thoughtful, beloved series that countless millions consider a genuine piece of literature then shat all over it to make Superman seem more relevant than he actually is
