Did Asami even have a character arc?

Did Asami even have a character arc?
The only major actions in her life were learning her dad was an Equalist and then watching him die in S4, and neither time do we see her ever actually dealing with that loss or consequence.

describe her personality

No. She also literally helped Korra divided the North/Southern Water Tribes by producing arms and munitions to save her warmongering company who were helping the Equalist.

How she wasn't arrested for this is beyond me. The President of Republic City literally did nothing wrong and was looking after his nation's best interest.

LoK pisses me off because Korra is a terrible Avatar and they support nepotism out the ass.

Her personality is to be Korra’s bottom.

Anyone have that screencap of how Asami is secretly the villain?

Her only purpose in the show is to be the chauffeur.

Asami and Bolin had way better chemistry than Mako/Asami and Korra/Asami.

There I said it. I mean think about it really, they've both been hurt by Mako/Korra. Bolin hung around her the most and they always acted like the closest of friends. And it was always Asami who comforted and talked about problems Bolin has had ranging from his broken heart, to Team Avatar 2.0 being broken up all the time, and other things.

Her character "arc" in S1 was NOT betraying team avatar. From that point on, I don't think they have much of an idea what to do with her. In S2 she just spins her wheels for a little while, although that's true of virtually every character in S2. In S3 she's basically just Korra's buddy and that's it. In S4 her character arc is daddy issues with a side of yuri.

can you even call her daddy issues an arc?
each and every time her father got involved, it would last all of 5 minutes and then be done, do we ever actually get to see Asami sad her dad beefed it?

When the writers came up with her, what kind of character did they think they were writing? its obvious what they were trying to do with mako the loveable douchebag and bolin quirky dumbo, but what kind of character is asami supposed to be? the ambiguously villainous person?

They honestly should've kept her with the Equalist subplot. Then have her become a character who realizes hating benders is wrong and go against her father after spending time with Team Avatar.

From there they could make her character be about righting the wrongs of her family and turning the company into a pro-bender/non-bender movement to ease divides started by the Equalist and some benders taking advantage of non-benders. Asami easily could've been a foil to Amon and his movement more than Korra.

>what kind of character is asami supposed to be? the ambiguously villainous person?

Literally yes. As I recall, they originally planned her as an equalist spy, but then they felt it would be more interesting to have her be a good guy instead. In other words, she was originally supposed to be the femme-fatale, but instead she's a deconstruction thereof (or at least an attempt to do so). After S1, though, they clearly had no where else to go with that, so she just sort of flounders with her businesswoman stuff.

>businesswoman stuff
>Father company was making weapons for a coup
>Proceeds to make the company produce weapons for a Civil War/coup.
God she's a terrible business person.

She was just a vehicle for Varrick being sketchy. Which is funny since they quickly realized that Varrick was literally too likable to be a villain and so they let him get away with everything in the end.

>Asami who comforted and talked about problems Bolin has had ranging from his broken heart, to Team Avatar 2.0 being broken up all the time, and other things.
and yet she only grew close to Korra after they wrote to each other

No. She was arm candy the whole ride. At least she was apart of the "first" lesbian couple in cartoons

>She was just a vehicle for Varrick being sketchy. Which is funny since they quickly realized that Varrick was literally too likable to be a villain and so they let him get away with everything in the end.
Varrick getting away with everything is some bullshit. Especially since he tried to kill the President and assist Kuvira in taking over the Earth Kingdom. His wife at best definitely shouldn't have been allowed to become President of Republic City.

What the fuck went wrong with the writers of Avatar?

Um she uh she uh likes Mako and then she likes Korra and she uh

It's funny how people desperately wanted her to be a villain. After going through so many bad things, they thought she would go insane and were waiting for her to be like the final boss of the series.
Well, so much for that.

Yeah she did. Arc for season 1 was making her realise her dad was a monster.

Season 2 was Asami learn to run a company and that Mako was a jerk.

Season 3 was Asami being there for Korra and laying the groundwork for Korrasami

Season 4 was learning her dad wasn't a full on monster. That he did love her. While also asking out Korra.

The books are about Asmai figuring out how to run what's left of her company and date Korra. While dealing with political treats and gangs after her.

Because people desperately wanted her to have character.

That's because the creators talked about her going bad. But decided against it because they felt she would make a good girlfriend for Korra.

she really likes unlikable people

Damn what a boring fucking character

her father was never a monster.
his anger was misplaced
Sato committed a heroic sacrifice, something she could never do

She uh um

>implying Korra isn't the bottom

>realizing her dad was a monster
see, if there had been a progression up to it, I would have agreed with you, but she had zero clue, she learned the truth and decided to go against him in the span of 2 minutes. there was no decision making or questioning of morals, no arc at all

It's funny cause it seems like the creators really hated Mako for some reason yet he was still given important stuff to do and actually mattered same with Bolin who was basically gigachad by the end

Ship bait war profiteer

>it seems like the creators really hated Mako for some reason
Bryke are hardcore sjws, they probably hate men in general

>Asami learn to run a company
By having it profit out of wars supported by the Avatar who is suppose to bring peace?

Why did they write him better then?

They did?

That's what season 4's ark was about. Yes he was a monster. He enjoyed killing and hurting benders.

Dude that's some weak bait user

Then the female characters?
Yes.

It was build up that took 2 episodes. They were limited on how long to drag it out. Yes there was questioning of morals on air temple island. Then again in season 4 when she started to talk to her dad again.

Asami deserves better than that cunt Korra. Really, korrasami has to be the only yuri pairing I'm not really into. Korra is just too unlikeable

Then why give Bloin a girlfriend. Or Zuko a harem of different girls.
