Cmon, DC. When are you bringing back Apache Chief? I want my size changing Native-American superhero dammit. You brought back The Wonder Twins in main canon. Forget the Outsiders, make a "Super Friends" team with Katana, Black Lightning, Apache Chief, and The Wonder Twins

I thought the Young Justice cartoon versions was a good modernization of them. Would like to see them as supporting characters in a Static Shock book.

The only ones I liked were Static and El Dorado

Tye and Asami were annoying as fuck.
Ultimen's Longshadow and Wind Dragon were better

He was always a favorite, I loved how he fought that giant woman

How about DC stops masturbating to Superfriends all together, it's been 45 years.

Apache Chief is actually a pretty cool concept for a superhero. Not sure why he’s always ignored.

I didn't like that he was a kid, or the fact that it was a weird energy thing. Go big and for the gold, I say stick to the Giant Man gig.
You're referring to Giganta, Wonder Woman villain, and queen of jobbing.
Fuck off

Because he's seen as a racist character prolly

What's exactly racist about him?

>Walks around in a leather loincloth and vest
>Talks..real...slow...kimosabe
Yeah he's about as inoffensive as Zulu-Warrior Man.

Aside from his growing powers, he's a dated caricature that has more to do with a cheap 50s western than an actual Apache.

Because the legal rights to the character are muddled.

Didn't he got caught exposing himself to civilians?
I swear they took him to court for that

Long shadow or the JY one is a great non racist update. Bring him in.

What's exactly racist about the growing powers? I don't follow there.
>he's a dated caricature that has more to do with a cheap 50s western than an actual Apache.
"Caricature" implies the character is exaggerated ando/or made as a joke, you could say Steamboat from the old Captain Marvel comics is a caricature, but Apache Chief seems pretty normal.

Apaches never dressed like that. It's just random exoticism.

The growing powers aren't the racist part, that's why I said "aside from"

>Apache Chief seems pretty normal
You don't actually know many native Americans, do you

I'm 27, Superfriends reruns were my primer to the greater DC universe as a kid. The show ran consistently on Cartoon network and boomerang until like 2001, it has a lot of multigenerational crossover.

>When are you bringing back Apache Chief?
When his settlement with the coffee shop finally clears.

You got Timber now. A giant native american woman with a blue axe named babe.

I get that, I'm 41 and I literally grew up with Superfriends my whole life. In fact it was pretty much my favorite show from about age 6 to age 12. But constantly referencing it in so many DC projects just feels cheap and repetitive after a while. At the end of CW Crisis I knew that "abandoned STAR Labs facility" was going to look like the SF hall of justice before that scene was over. There's so much more to DC besides the Supefriends, one of the reasons I loved Batman: Brave and the Bold is because it went out of its way to avoid Superfriends references.

Then why Nightwolf is still a character in the Mortal Kombat games?

Where is this from?

The short-lived Immortal Men

Not an american here, can anyone explain me why is Apache chief racist? I get he's suppose to be a native, but it's something about his desing an offensive reference or his name?

He retired. There was an..."incident" with McDonald's coffee, and, well...the scars cause serious issues when he grows, so he just...quit.

So no, she didn't replace him. Nobody acknowledges Immortal Men.
He's not racist or problematic, at least in appearance (but if we're honest, I think he could use a new look). See the real issue, besides relevancy, is the name "Apache Chief". Why? Well what little Native American tribes are left HATE it when they all get lumped together. Apparently they get super butthurt because each tribe is very personal to them, and each has their own customs and history. So to make a Native American hero dubbed "Apache Chief" basically shits on every other tribe besides the Apache. That's why in Justice League Unlimited with the Ultimen Apache Chief was renamed "Long Shadow" (also I think there's a rights issue in play). Frankly Long Shadow is a better name anyway, I just want my size changing hero back

His design is just a generalized hollywood/cartoon injun that doesn't actually have anything to do with traditional or contemporary Apache dress, and his personality isn't anything beyond "Hi, I'm an Indian and I know secret Indian magic."

You and I both know that case was thrown out in court when it was proved he could still grow

So calling him Apache chief is like calling john stewart "the black guy", also Long shadow is not really that bad, make sense with his power and is easy to remember

You're kind of exaggerating, and pretending his name is Redback. Hell John Redcorn's personality was just fucking Nancy and spouting Indian wisdom where the wind would magically start blowing

It's more like if I assume every Asian I see is Japanese.

The name Apache Chief is no different than the name Captain America.

It's totally different, are you dumb? You're comparing a nation to a ethnicity

>Hell John Redcorn's personality was just fucking Nancy and spouting Indian wisdom where the wind would magically start blowing
John Redcorn had a few different story arcs and was a pretty fleshed out character by the end of KotH.
