The state of capeshit vidya

>WB Montreal's Batman Reboot
>Rocksteady's Suicide Squad
>Insomniac's Spider-Man 2
>Crystal Dynamic's Avengers
What are your thoughts on the upcoming slate of superhero games?

Only interested in Avengers and only if we get Carol

>WB Montreal's Batman Reboot

Played all the way up to City, had a lot of fun with that and Asylum, but figured that it'll just be more of the same so I didn't bother with Origins and Knight, and don't think I'll bother with this one. If you're going to make a decent game about a DC character, make it about anyone else but fucking Batman, make an actual good game about Superman for fuck sakes.

>Rocksteady's Suicide Squad

Haven't heard of anything, would be interested if it were a turn-based tactical game ala X-Com or Jagged Alliance like it was rumored to be, otherwise, meh.

>Insomniac's Spider-Man 2

More Playstation-exclusive bullshit I'm sure, I don't have a Playstation nor do I plan on getting one, so I don't give a shit.

>Crystal Dynamic's Avengers

They need to release more info for me to gauge my expectations. I don't give a fuck about the cosmetic microtransactions, just make the actual content fun and expansive.

Excited for Batman and full-on hype for Spider-Man 2. The other stuff may be alright.

I just hope something comes of Ed Boon's meeting with Marvel.

>Marvel DC fighting game finally happens
>it's by Netherrealm studios
I have fun with MK but Injustice is a slog to play, Capcom or bust

Well Insomniac were bought out last year by Sony, so yes.

I think it's not impossible that the first game comes out on PC, Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a PC port published by Sony themselves.

Is it too much to ask for a good iron man game?

>Rocksteady's Suicide Squad
What the fuck, when did this happen?

I was interested in the Avengers game unitl I found out it's a Destiny/Borderlands/Diablo style RPG where it's built around replaying the same levels over and over again at higher difficulties. I don't care much for hamster wheels, so I don't give a shit about that garbage. Kamala is cute, though.

Split the difference SNK makes it

Uninterested.
I don't have a PS4 so I never played the Spiderman game, Avengers game looks like crap, Arkham series already got me my fill of Batman vidya and despite doing great work with it SS game by Rocksteady kinda gives me the feeling it'll just be more of the same Arkham already have.

Best superhero vidya (not counting OC stuff like Prototype or Infamous) is a tie between Web of Shadows or Arkham Asylum. Was Shattered Dimensions good? Thinking of getting it for cheap.

>WB Montreal's Batman Reboot

Don't care, still haven't 100%'d Arkham Knight.

>Rocksteady's Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad or Harley and The Suicide Squad? I'm really not interested in either.

>Insomniac's Spider-Man 2

Don't have a PS4, and I'm not in a real big hurry to get one even for Spider-Man.

>Crystal Dynamic's Avengers

Still looks rough, might flop if it goes full Overwatch/games-as-a-service.

Avengers looks like shit. The Arkham games are great so I'm looking forward to new Batman and Suicide Squad. Spider-man game was good too so the sequel probably will be too

I'll only give a shit if they make a new Superman game

Remember the time an Arkham Beyond game was leaked on Zig Forums and the premise was so unbelievably shit?

Instead of taking place in the distant future with Terry McGinnis, it takes place in the very near future with fucking Damian?

Why are developers so terrified of using Terry? FFs the original premise of the new Batman Beyond comics had Tim Drake stealing Terry's role

Superman is kill. Zack answered the eternal question "Gentlemen, how do we kill Superman?"
He'll always have a comic, but DC's tenured characters always see print even if practically no one cares.

>Seething Xboxfag, the post

Shattered Dimension, story wise, was great. Gameplay may not be great but it ain't bad either. Also, if you can get Edge of Time, you should. Great game.

Things I want from a Spider-Man sequel
>better momentum building while swinging like in the PS2 games
>combat that isn't Arkham shit
>no MJ/Miles stealth missions well I guess it wouldn't work for Miles anymore anyway
>fix the teeth and jaws of female characters and tone down the tacticoolness of their outfits so they can be qts
>boss fights that are actually fun, don't reserve them for the last third of the game
>let me pose for pictures on the Statue of Liberty

Things I want from Avengers
>for it to fucking tank because it's even more shameless MCU pandering than Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was and it's costing me the existence of the final Adam Jensen Deus Ex game

I couldn't give two shits about WB Montreal's Batman game and I'd rather just wait for confirmation on Rocksteady's new game.

Web of Shadows was easily the worst Treyarch Spider-Man game

He's been kill before, he can come back again
I really think a good Supes game would need to escape the open world meme and be a linear action game with well designed levels and completely over the top setpieces like Metal Gear Rising. I think cape games that have you running around a city doing the same generic tasks over and over are garbage

>implying I'm a console peasant

Eat shit, exclusivity shitflinging doesn't compel me to buy a shitty watered-down barely middling at its release PC, it just makes me double down on refusing to give them my money.

>for it to fucking tank because it's even more shameless MCU pandering than Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was and it's costing me the existence of the final Adam Jensen Deus Ex game

Get the fuck over it, it was shitty suit decisions that killed that franchise by nickel and diming actual content and people expressing outrage over buying an incomplete title that killed the company's interest in pursuing the franchise any further, not because they had other projects.

Fuck off and don't bring your literal consolewars to Zig Forums, you pair of faggots.

that leak is fake

I just expressed that platform exclusivity can suck my dick, and I'll stick by that, on that token, so can you.

I remember reading some time ago that DC hire ups dont like the idea of confusing the brand with two Batmen. Its absolutely retarded because the characters are clearly separate entities, but it makes sense. They dislike the idea of Terry being Batman's successor, as a weird not-legitimate son who isn't really like Bruce at all. Damian is more marketable by virtue of just being a copy of Bruce. So if we get a game in the future, bet it is Damian they go with.

I hope that if we do get MJ sections, she gets powered the fuck up with spider gadgets. Either that or she just has puzzles and not stealth.
Seeing as how Miles got bit by the invisibility+electricity spider, he might make for a mildly more interesting stealth section, though I’d be interested in seeing how they would differentiate the two.
Also their reluctance with the symbiote sounds like it might be a full blown mechanic in the second game. Symbiote skills or something like Metroid Prime 3 Corruption could make for an interesting change of pace, and it could easily lead to a Miles vs Peter fight.

The bat guys at DC are retarded with how protective they are. That’s why they rather pass around babs for everybody to fuck in the family instead of letting them move to greener pasture somewhere.

In most continuities Talia rapes Bruce to get his genetics, marketers and higher ups don't see that as problematic as hell?

>They dislike the idea of Terry being Batman's successor, as a weird not-legitimate son who isn't really like Bruce at all.

I will never understand this. Being a superhero is not hereditary. Sure, you can write an anthology of generations of superheroes but there's literally nothing wrong with a non-blood successor story line. The rational of higher-ups and marketers is weird as fuck.

> who isn't really like Bruce at all.

I thought that was the appeal, rather than a Dick/Drake/Damian character whose personality and biases are inseparably molded, for better or worse, by Bruce as an adopted father-son relationship. Terry is different because he's neither a Robin, and old enough to have developed an entire personality/life experience independent of Bruce before the events of the show
What's this about Babs?

>Crystal Dynamics
the Gex dudes?
