Ending NC was the beginning of the end
Not so awesome was gunshot
The wall was spitting on the grave
It was fucking weird when he dressed up as that creepy as fuck Goofy cosplay
he came up at a time where it was acceptable to watch things ironically
How do you feel about the Linkara storyline?
Was never good, but at some point was much better than what he became?

When are we getting our fucking e-celeb containment board, I hate you all
He was funny when he was just making fun of shitty kids movies from the 80s and 90s. When he thought he had the talent to branch out, that’s when he started to falter.

He wanted to be the office so bad
Apart from all the baggage his studio created and discussing purely his content: He was tolerable when it was just

Like most "critic" Youtubers he went to shit the second he decided he wanted to be a comedian and added skits/more layered jokes into the content.
Youtube critics are rarely ever funny and seeing them try to push the comedy angle often times leads to absolute cringe. Not to say there are no funny critics but the vast majority just aren't.
He was good when he criticized old obviously bad properties, similar to how AVGN was. At some point both of them ran out of content and started scraping the barrel and adding intrusive skits.
Why does his stuff always look so amateur? Like noname film-makers making stuff for free as a hobby seem to make better looking stuff than ol' Doug, I know he likes to pretend "it's meant to look bad!" but it just looks like he doesn't do anything more than filming inside his own home with a single handheld camera. Like, I know he doesn't do anything more than that (ok, maybe he has a shitty greenscreen set up somewhere) but if he's going to build a career on ripping on other films then you'd hope he would at least know some of the rudimentary basics of filmmaking.
This
Also don't forget the whole game show fiasco.
What I liked most about his demo reel shit failing was his good friend Brad taking a jab at it's failure with ET the Porno Demo Reel as a april fools day joke, and he's a fucking cuck for not reposting it.
MELVIN MELVIN BROTHER OF THE JOKER
He's a bad director. He wants to do shit cheap like Kevin Smith in the early days but can't actually direct properly because if anyone says something may work better it becomes "we'll film it both ways then" and then he just uses his version like he wanted to.
There is a reason movies with INT settings are always big rich houses, because you can place equipment and stand your actors so it looks good. You can tell everyone is pushed against the wall and there is only the camera and mic.
I know that a lot of it is probably nostalgia from when I was a teen, but I feel like his stuff was better back in the day. It was just straightforward making fun of bad movies. Then he had to blow up the production and get other actors involved to do lame skits that take up a decent portion of the runtime. Chances are going back his older hasn't aged great either and part of why he became so popular is because he was one the first guys to do that kind of stuff on the internet and make a career out of it. Now everyone can make comedic reviews of stuff on the internet so there's higher standards.
The only good older stuff is the comercial episodes and even those aren't that old.
He had to include the actors otherwise he can't justify having a studio and wasting money. Only good skit from them has been Monster Squad and possibly IT prt 1.
Keep crying about it, maybe that will convince them.
It was almost tolerable when it started, because they would basically just be vaguely interconnected skits that always occurred at the very end, after the review, so if you didn't care about them you could just leave.
When it started creeping into the rest of the review, and whole videos became devoted to it, it was utterly insufferable.
Does anyone else remember Nostalgia Critic frequently making jokes about his "ovaries"?
I know it sounds ridiculous but hear me out. I used to be a really big nostalgia critic fan back in the day, following his videos from the early days of TGWTG. I swear to god, he used to have a running gag where he would mention having ovaries. It wasn't once an episode or anything, but it was enough that people took notice. There were some easy jokes, like if there was a scene with fanservice of a male character, he'd say something like "oh god, my ovaries just exploded!", obviously parodying the idea of what a woman might say.
But it went further than that, I remember during one of his extended rants he said something to the effect of "I'd rather rip out my ovaries and stab them with a pencil than watch this again!" - that one in particular really stuck with me because the rant built up and ended with an exaggerated "FUCK! THIS! FILM!", and I downloaded that clip to make a sparta remix of the ending, but I left the whole rant in the video before the start of the remix. Unfortunately I closed my old youtube channel ages ago, and I've switched computers multiple times so I lost the files involved.
I also remember there were a few times where he set up a joke where he was kicked in the groin, and at first acted like he was in intense pain, before revealing that it actually didn't hurt much because of course he had ovaries instead of testicles. Now when I look up these clips, it seems the punchlines have been cut out so they play more like standard 'hit in the balls' jokes with no subversion of the trope.

Unfortunately, I'm looking this up now and I can't seem to find evidence of ANY of this. I can find a couple of times when he said the word "ovaries", but they're never in reference to himself. I remember there were people seriously looking into this back in the day because the gag seemed so random and bizarre, and they actually dug up old forum posts Doug had made offhandedly mentioning his ovaries before the Nostalgia Critic character existed. This lead to some theorizing that he might be a trans man (FtM), but all of those discussions seem to be gone now too.
Is it possible he's trying to cover this up? There have been occasions where he's edited his jokes out of his videos, such as the "autistic kids" one from his Patch Adams video. Lindsay Ellis also went to great lengths to hide the "våldtäkt rap" joke from one of her early Nostalgia Chick videos, and it didn't surface again until a few years ago. Plus with moving all his videos from Blip.TV to various YouTube channels over the years, it would provide more opportunity to do it. Maybe unrelated, but I've noticed them issuing more copyright strikes on unofficial NC uploads in the past couple years.
The TGWTG wiki has transcripts of nearly every Nostalgia Critic video out there, but they can be edited by anyone, and while Wikia lets you view the full edit history of any page, there are so many pages that I wouldn't even know where to start looking for deleted jokes (I unfortunately don't remember which episodes they were in).

Whatever the case, I can't be the only one who remembers this. I've encountered residue - for instance, once in a Discord server, someone said "ugghhhh my ovaries hurt" and another user responded "Calm down there nostalgia critic". For what other reason would they have said that? The first user didn't have an NC avatar/name anything.
So, am I crazy? It MIGHT have been another internet reviewer from the late 2000s/early 2010s that I'm thinking of, but I'm fairly sure it wasn't since I didn't watch that many back then. Hopefully someone can help me find some evidence and put this to rest.
I ain't reading this novel.
No dude you just have autism.
When he tried to end it and then had to backpedal because his other stuff was shit, when it came back it became a bunch overproduced(for YouTube standards) skits. Unlike AVGN who sticks to the basics and the meta humor isn't as intrusive he fell believing he was brighter than what he really is.
Thanks for the pasta
To Boldly Flee should have been the end.
Also, Doug never realized he lacks the intelligence to actually analyze movies, since he cannot write for shit.
The first arc was great for what it was. Then he started disappearing up his own behind about it and it all went downhill from there.
>Why does his stuff always look so amateur?
Because he has no sense of professionalism. People who actually care about what they do will improve, even if only slightly, while people who don't give a shit stagnate.
he made it
